  1. Upper Arm Armor Armor has a recessed area with a contrasting black "T-bit" detail attached within. Black elastic is used to secure the armor around upper arm. Painted to match the rest of the armor OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Accurate "T-bit" detail is mounted to the armor. T-bit circle detail piece faces forward on each arm. Armor is secured around the arm with a 1.5" (40mm) black elastic strap. Forearm Armor Black elastic is used to secure the armor around forearm. Painted to match the rest of the armor. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Armor is secured around the arm with a 1" (25mm) black elastic strap.
  2. Shoulder armor is the same as the other scouts, but with a White base under tone, and a green/brown camo like application over top Same for most the armor parts honestly, if not all. Shoulder Armor Black elastic is used to secure the armor around upper arm. Shoulder pieces do not have any adornment. painted to match the rest of the armor. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Armor is secured around bicep with a 0.5" (12mm) black elastic strap. Bottom corners are rounded. Optional: Affix top of shoulder bells to shoulder bridge loops.
  3. Flight suit. This one is interesting, as it does not appear to have the middle riding patch, but does seem to have a butt flap present. I would say for basic level, we use the standard that is being used with the Shadow and Swamp scout? but for higher level, remove the riding patch, and instead require that the 2 inch elastic strap completely surround the upper thigh? Flight Suit The undersuit is a one or two-piece black textile suit, such as military flightsuits, motorcycle racing suits, industrial work clothing (Dickies), or similar suit modified appropriately. Stand-up collar conceals the neck with an enclosing strap to keep the collar closed. Must have a suede or faux suede butt flap attached above the waist hidden by the cummerbund and is rectangular in shape. The flap is slightly narrower than the width of the trooper and stops slightly higher than the bottom edge of the troopers backside. Suede or faux suede thigh patches must be present, extending over the flight suit crotch and down the front finishing above the knee armor. The thigh patches must be secured by 2" (50mm) black elastic, sewn in under the front and back of the thigh patch. See the Scout Trooper Flight Suit page for detailed images of the patches described below. Suit must not have any visible labels, logos or zippers (including built in flight suit pockets). OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Suit is fairly fitted and not baggy. Black suede thigh riding patch is removed. 2 inch black elastic runs completely around the leg/thigh Real black suede square/ rectangular butt patch is attached to flight suit at the rear under where cummerbund sits. No external visible stitching. Size will differ slightly from scout to scout, but correct scale is maintained.
  4. For the helmet. It appears, from what I can tell, that the helmet is missing the "Vent" detailing on the right lower side as is present in all the other scouts. It also appears that there is an added decal/detail on the right side of the visor, opposite of the "hook" detail on the left side. looks like a mirrored hook detail. so same decal sitting on the opposite side, with the same mirrored orientation Helmet Scout style helmet accurate in shape and form. Eye lens is black, dark green or silver mirrored. Helmet is painted to match armor. White undertone/base with green/brown camo like appearance. Flat or concave elevator bolts. Snout is gray with black details. Same Details as present in the Biker Scout, with colors matching visual reference. I am not sure what constitutes level 2 over level 1, but maybe a detail of level 2 would be that the vent detail on the lower right of the back of the helmet is removed. And the added "mirrored" hook detail on right side of helmet OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Details are the correct color and placed as shown. Scout style details are present, either painted or decals. Ear holes are correctly shaped and have no mesh. Black 3M Speedglas bolts or replicas mount the faceplate to the helmet. (Visible bolt head diameter of 22mm). Accurate snout detail and aerator with accurate parts, mounted onto a plate and painted gray with black details. Accurate squared emblem (Hook) located on the left and right faceplate "blinder". Accurate rear helmet "bar code" striping pattern. Accurate three lines on center of forehead area. No visible seams on the dome. No visible "Vent" detail on lower right of back of helmet. Balaclava I would say falls in line with the current used in the CRL. Covers the face and neck of the wearer. Balaclava A balaclava is a black head sock/hood that is worn under the helmet and is used primarily to hide any view of the wearer’s skin and/or facial hair.
  5. Helmet also appears to have a decal on both sides of the visor. The normal "hook" decal/detail on the left, but then there is also another Mirrored looking decal on the right side.
  6. New References incoming! The belt looks different though than the normal scout belt as well, and slightly different that the first reference photo. Tank also appears to have the "rank" bar detail on both sides. 6 or 7 lines it seems No holster on the boot. Boot also has a two tone build. and the "dog Bone" detail is gone. Boot still secures at the back.
  7. Ok so here we go! I am hoping to get this build done and give the Spec Ops another costume to add to the amazing list. The Forest Trooper is a Scout, but with the forest/wetlands "camo like" scheme overtop. I believe the base of the armor should be white, with the heavy green and brown overlay. Currently searching for boot options, as it seems the boot is a "flat" sole boot with a grey color sole. The boots also appear to be missing the standard "dog bone" construction of the original Scout boot, but I believe I have a workup for that already, just need to find the right base boot. Do we think a level 1 element could allow the basic scout boot base? with high levels being a flat sole? definitely want clarification before purchasing a base and it not being right. As far as the back of the armor goes. It appears to be that the tank does not have the tank topper detail. Is this something that would be allowed for level 1? or for conformity over all the costumes? how would the detachment want to proceed with that? This is going to be a fun build! Using my Biker scout as a Base, and having a shadow scout already approved, I will be pulling and "kit bashing" this build to get the desired outcome for this costume. I pray with the help of this awesome detachment, we can achieve a game accurate costume, while being able to allow a slight variation of levels of approval. any and ALL suggestions and input is welcome and appreciated! Scout used for base Cummerbund is the exact same as the Shadow Scout, minus the black Cod. Will be making a new Cod using material from the swamp trooper cummerbund
  8. Here. This is everything you need for your costume submission. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TX_shadow_scout That is what your GML (the judges) will base approval off of.
  9. Excellent to hear! Cant wait to have another shadow trooper! If you have any questions, please ask!
  10. Right. But please confirm. You are NOT going to do the tan one? The Tan one is not an official costume and as such you can not and will not get it approved on the 501st. You keep saying "shadow scout" which is black, not tan. Just wanna make sure you are clear and so are we before you spend a bunch of money for nothing. Those renderings are someones design and are not official star wars costumes.
  11. So you are going to do a shadow scout and not that tan one now? Im sorry i am a bit confused
  12. First off. Welcome. Secondly, are you looking to join the 501st Legion? You are are wanting to build a "custom one off" scout? I have never heard of a Tan scout except for a Kashyyyk scout but those are more camo and found on the pathfinders Detachment. Other than that, there isnt an approved "tan" scout costume. Can you be more clear on what you are looking to do or wanting? Like is there a pic you have? Thanks
  13. Yeah no worries! Its an easy thing to mix up, and about 99% of it is the same.
  14. That doesnt look too bad. When you go to put the rivet in the bottom make sure you make it tight. But what do you mean "basic because the strap wont work"? There isnt a strap required for L2. Also reach out to your GML and see what they say
  15. Welcome to the true dark, in the dark side. The shadows are where the fun truly happens. As far as the belt, yes that can still be approved. The one piece requirement is only a L2 requirement. If you havent already, take a look here at the CRL which will be used for your approval by your local GML. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TX_shadow_scout If you have any questions or concerns, or progress photos, please keep us updated and lets get you approved!
  16. So technically you dont have to fill that cap seam for approval. As far as the face plate goes, you can take a square of abs and put it on the inside of the helmet and create a new attachment point for the face plate, this will pull it in and align it better to the dome. Definitely a salvageable helmet no doubt
  17. That trooper is a lot of soft goods. I am sure someone in your garrison can sew. Might be a good idea to touch base with them and work something out. Its alot easier than it seems. Glad you decided to stay!
  18. Definitely dont wanna see you go! We have an awesome Detachment and pretty cool when we show up to troops. If nothing else, leave the membership active and just dont mind it. It doesnt hurt the Detachment at all if the account is there but dormant. And if you ever do decide to come back and give a cost a go, your account is already here waiting for you. I will say i have alot of accounts with other detachments as well, some of which i dont necessarily intend on joining. But hey, now I am 23 approved costumes in and apart of 10 different Detachments. Sometimes things change. Again, we would hate to see you go and would love for you to join us.
  19. Jay, what I showed you is exactly what the tank topper needs to look like. Unfortunately if it does not then it is inaccurate and will not pass
  20. Tank topper is straight black. No detail or anything that would make it stand out.
  21. Finally got word back! Approved!
  22. Update! Approved! Only thing I was asked to do is make the stripes on the arms wider. Which made sense. I didnt want to go too wide at first and then get told its too much. So happy with my final outcome.
  23. Awesome! Something to point out. Those clips that hold the gloves together can sometimes be pointed out. Talk to your local GML about them and weither they want you to remove them or not.
  24. Hey Jill! ok so now its been 3 years!!! was just wondering how things were going for you? any help needed please ask. Hope all is well!
