Imperial Super Commando - Gar Saxon animated costume
beren88 replied to MisterxM's topic in Gar Saxon (Rebels - Animated)
thats fine. ill do the modeling. I woudl appreciate the eyes on the models for angles and things i might miss. i try not to miss stuff, but when you stare at somethign so long, sometimes little things slip by. Yeah, if the files are approved and accepted, then i would sell or whatever the files. the more super commandos the better -

the teeth and the ffront slit look off on it to me, unless that is the version from the game, then could be right and i wouldnt know. i will be modeling the helmet from the show and posting all my wip's in my thread, feel free to comment on the ways i can improve the model im making. I will be modeling the whole armour -

sounds good. I cant speak for the force arena version as i have never played the video game. But i am designing the helmet starting today. I will have the first render in a few days. I hope that as a group we can nitpick the hell out of my file and then it is accurate exactly to the show, if the force arena version is the same, then that helps everyone as well. my hope is that we can be meticulous about the model, and make all the changes needed, so that once i print it, im not worried about it being not allowed for a file, then it comes down to my painting being sufficient. ha ha ha. -

thanks. I use a good site for screen caps as it helps me with the modeling of stuff. When you say "we'll" what does that mean? you and the detachment members? or i would pick pics i think provide good angles? -
i see the helmet is yellow. does that mean the info was started before? or because we are working on it right now for the build i am starting? from what i can tell, 2 vendors have made the helmet, do3d, which isnt very accurate and skylu released a set. Have they been viewed before? i dont think the do3d one is very accurate, as thats not what do3d cares about when they pump out the models. skylu i havent looked at yet. so if you know, ill defer to your judgement and i can find that one. Aleternatively, if the skylu is ok, but not perfect, i can always design a new helmet and then the detachment can pour over the model as i build it to ensure its perfectly accurate. im open to that option. that way many eyes will make a model perfect

next comment will be al the screen caps from the episode. I cant tell a difference between grunt and captain in the armour other than paint. -

top down works for me, that is pretty inline with how how i tell my um's to build and thats how i build too. I will respond to the messages then, i will post all the images. As i was pulling the images from the episode last night, i cant honestly tell a different between gar saxon and the grunts other than paint job, so we can use this thread for the discussions about what to do, and then my friends thread will just be his work in progress photos. That way discussion could realistically be streamlined to one thread. That artwork is interesting, the tristan one looks close, but the gar saxon is very different than the show. -

i didnt even know there was a rebels art book. i will acquire it asap to reference. yeah, the mmcc has some really great points. thats why i posted, use it as a reference frame. can i use this thread as my wip and pic gathering? I would be doing the Gar Saxon build, and one of the guys from my clan would be doing the grunt? now he isn't 501st approved, this is going to be his first 501st costume, so would i have to have two threads ongoing, one for him and one for my costume since technically two crls would be going at same time? I will go grab screen grabs and post them in to the thread. I was thinking i would like to start on the helmet and the undersuit. Its my ruusalor position kicking in, i always say soft parts first to my UM's is that a good place to start with? -

Good Day I currently have an approved Clone wars s5 gar saxon Super commando Captain and am wanting to build the animated rebels Gar Saxon as well sicne im almost about to finish my s7 gar saxon costume. There is a theme to my builds, ha ha ha. One of my mando clan locally wants to build a grunt while i build the Gar saxon leader one. I was sad to see that there was no CRL. I reached out to Teresa Nuthall who advised me to join here and introduce myself to start the process if there isnt on in place. I have 8 3d printers and do design work. That being said, i have d03ds files and skylus animated files already. If i can use those, then i will start printing today to get on this. Teresa who sews many of the 501sts approved costumes said she will start on the flight suit as soon as i give her the go ahead. I saw the other thread about the wip crl for the flight suit, but i think that was for the arena version correct? My local con is october 30th, so my goal is to have this approved and worn at that con. i saw someone else talking about making the costume? but didnt see any photos or follow ups, so hopefully not stepping on toes asking if i can start this kit

Hello there Me and another person local are very interested in building costume for our next 501st builds. I would love to have this done before the year is out. I was advised to post in here so someone would contact me about my desire to build it thanks so much. Also, i design armour, so any files that arent already out there are things i can design as needed.
