Chef[501st]
very true... I'm just thinking of visual impact here. Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
I am with ya, its a tougher sell. Blood or guts sure wont show as well, but I would still love to see it. Link to comment
drthmrl[TX]
Yeah I'm still going black. Got most of the trimming done last night. Gonna finish it up today and get started on the flat black painting. Was thinking of just dry brushing a thin coat of brown over the black in spots then doing the same with a olive green color. Then use a soldering iron to make burn lines and holes. Link to comment
Master Tej
I like the idea of the burned lines and holes. - Master Tej - Link to comment
DizzyStormtrooper[501st]
Since there's no hard armor covering the stomach it'd be a neat idea to have a fake tree branch as if you were on a bike and got impaled Link to comment
Master Tej
Then, that would make sense if you were on a bike and hit a tree. You were impaled, the bike exploded, and therefore burned your armor. - Master Tej - Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
Or use the double iPad idea to give yourself a hole in your stomach. Link to comment
Griffin-X[501st]
This should be a cool one. I can't wait to see what you do Mearl. Link to comment
drthmrl[TX]
I like the tree idea. Don't have 2 iPod's or else I would do that. :-) Link to comment
drthmrl[TX]
But I just thought about something. I'm not going to put a hole in my cumberbun. Lol Link to comment
Master Tej
Attachable sandwhich-board type piece with the branch for the chest, maybe? - Master Tej - Link to comment
drthmrl[TX]
I thought maybe addi g a torn/ripped piece of cloth to hid the straps that would hold the limb in place... Link to comment
Master Tej
That would work perfectly. Oh, boy, this is exciting. A Death Scout. I still can't wait to see where this goes. - Master Tej - Link to comment
drthmrl[TX]
I don't know if this pic will work using my iphone, but here is the zombie mask I bought for the costume... http://s91.photobucket.com/albums/k317/drthmrl/?action=view¤t=2DB3974F-345D-4264-A777-33661B720589-513-0000004CB33A33D9_zps4224dc01.jpg&evt=user_media_share Link to comment

drthmrl[TX]
I couldn't believe how long it took for me to find just the right one. Over a hour online. Lol $34 with free shipping. Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
Nice mask! Link to comment
Chef[501st]
yeah cool mask. To get the best effect, I'd have part of the front of the faceplate smashed out of the lid, say half the lens (ish), and down one cheek. Just so it exposes that rather nice ripped open gore on the mask. Not a lot... Just enough so people can see inside. That's if you are doing a helmet. Link to comment
Griffin-X[501st]
Very cool and creepy mask. I've seen plenty of TK-style death troopers. I can't wait to see yours Mearl! Link to comment
drthmrl[TX]
I'm going to do a helmet just not yet. Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
It's just likely regular armor, the upgrades are never complete. Link to comment
drthmrl[TX]
Ok, I'm somewhat torn between painting then damaging the armor or damaging then painting. With a stormtrooper armor you either paint the cracks black or add color damage. But I was thinking that painting first then doing the damage would show the white under the black paint to give it more damaged highlights against the black. Thoughts? Link to comment
drthmrl[TX]
Well I desided to paint fist. I figure after a add damage effects to it I'll use some brown/rust color on the "burned" sections and leave the white scratch's and white edges where I plan to cut pieces out. Just finished putting the second coat of flat black paint on, which I think the flat black is really going to help with the "aged" look. Once it dries I'll start adding the "burned/scorch" damage. I'll try to post some pics when I'm done. Link to comment
