i would believe so since the white version can be approved and all this is is just black capped version.

 

The only thing I have a problem with sds is

A: price (there are other that are cheaper but really it depends on what you are looking for if it be price, accuracy, or comfort)

B: little tilt in the back of the helmet

C: and the fact that he cant ship it to the US cause of the legal battle with Gorge Lucas

oh yeah, the ab buttons last time i posted at the Black hole topics. " Question about the Ab plate" they said you can modify this buttons to be black

 

on the FISD members said the SDS (TK ver.) qualify or meet in the 501st standard, as they said its little bit expensive on SDS.

i see, well it is true that SDS can meet the 501st standard said from FISD. the only problem is yeah the letter A .

for the letter B i notice that, tilted in the back of the helmet. i saw the picture at the FISD Black hole / nova trooper topic.

3) A kit may take longer to put together, but you can put it together how you like it, and make it easy for you to put on and take off, and ensure the fit before you glue/velcro/snap things.

That would be acceptable, but there are a couple things in his pics that would need to be changed. But like everyone else has stated, you can get cheaper, better looking kits than that one.

if changes, i need to re paint the Ab plate because the Spec ops Requirements said its all Black buttons. that is my observation in his suit.

Can you tell me sir Black hole, if what are needed to be changes?

 

on the other hands i try to inquire to also to TM (Troopermaster) suit if he can create TX suit . or he can? or is there any other kits came from black? i dont know where can i find.

Well, the changes to make it fit you right could be considered a requirement for 501st entry in that if it fits very poorly it will likely be requested for you to make adjustments.

I think, if I understand correctly, that everyone here is saying "yes, that will probably get you into the 501st", (Darth is right if it doesn't fit well you'll need to make changes before you're accepted) but there are pros and cons ... And most people are trying to make sure you are aware of what you're getting into.

 

Here is my list of the Pros and Cons:

 

Pro:

• - It's Pre Built (may save you time, and be easier to do if you're not in a place that has easy access to the needed tools, straps, etc.)
  -

 

Con:

• - It's Pre Built (If you need to adjust the fit on anything you won't have the tools or know how to easily do it, you also won't have a pre-existing kit for repairs after troops or to make the constant modification / tweaks we all do)
  - Expensive (And I mean REALLY expensive - look in the "for sale" area here and you'll see what kits can be bought for)
  - If the Shoulder Straps and Back Plate connection picture ( 2nd from right, also attached below for quick reference) is indicative of the "professional strapping system" I'd stay away. This is an ad photo and if that is the best they can do that's both terrible and scary.
  - The TD looks to be about 2 inches too long
  - Belt is a non-shiney material. Fine for 501st acceptance but if you want to go for the Detachment award "specialist" you'll need a shiney one.
  - The ankles look really skinny. Not really a problem but most troopers who use the Bass Amsterdam benefit from a wider ankle in case they need to strap down the shin (as they tend to ride up above the lip of the boot).
  - And best of all the line "accommodates 5'6" - 6'2" " ... I don't recall the last time I bought a suit that said: fits from 5 and a half feet tall to over 6 feet tall. So there is no possible way it'll fit you perfectly out of the box. You'll need foam shims, you'll have gaps, things will rub, etc. Yes you can probably adjust the "professional strapping" but the thigh diameter won't change, and that may be a HUGE problem.
  - The local community knowledge base is built around the "home built kits" ... There isn't a lot of knowledge about how to effectively tweak an SDS without resorting to trimming, shimming and gluing... and if you're willing to do that then why not get your own "DIY kit".

And as a note: the fit of 5 foot 6 to over 6 feet is probably based on the average European Male. So if you're not of average European male build (read: female, thinner then average, bigger then average) then that is another strike against this kit.

 

Not to toot my own horn (but I'm gonna) the last time I built anything out of a boxed plastic kit (before these suits) was in 1978, it was an F-104 Starfighter aircraft with my Grandfather. While the Trooper kits may look daunting to assemble, they are pretty straight forward, and there is a great community here to help at every step of the way.

 

 

 

Shoulder strap / Back Plate attachment:

- Pretty standard use of Velcro but my concern is if they allow the photo they use to sell the product look this bad what will they let your kit / strapping look like. The strap on the right of the pic isn't attached and the one on the left is just barely attached. And as a bonus you get a view of the Giant TD.

Yes, the suit should be fine for 501st clearance. If there is anything wrong, the LMO will tell you what changes need to be made. They shouldn't be anything too hard provided the suit fits you right out of the box.

I looked @ this suit before I even made my first purchase. And I was so gun ho about buying a suit & getting into the 501st I came very close to making it happen. (I have friends abroad, who come back home now & then). But Matt makes a very good point. You cant expect something that is suppose to be as form fitting as "Armor" to your own individual body type, shape & size to come out of a box that has been "Mass Produced" for the masses.

 

This is the same reason that you don't walk into mall and pick up a "Star Wars" costume (I use the tern loosely) & and say 501st here I come! They aren't made with any pride or quality. (However its amazing how the two are poured into the construction of you own suit)

 

I know it can seem over whelming to try and research your first suit, but if you tell us all about yourself, & ask plenty of "stupid" questions (remember there are no stupid questions) someone if not everyone can point you down a better path. And don't worry, no one is going to call you a noob or think less of you. Until we all found our way here or any other genuine community based boards, we were all adrift on a sea of disinformation. At the mercy of those looking to make a fast buck off a sucker with a fist full of cash. I really mean it when I say, we have all been there!

 

For the amount that suit is going to cost you, I was able to get a brand new full kit, new lid, custom blaster, gloves, under-suit, neck seal, shoes, fans, belt, all the little extras I needed & still had money left over to put towards a second kit.

 

Buying your first suit is a big decision. I took my good friend last night to buy his first suit. And trust me, even though I he had watch me build & finish two. He still did his homework & researched the advice on these boards before finally putting his hard earned money down.

mate of mine in uk knows ainworth and seen there e-11 close up basicly they made a mould and flop it so i belived and looks really bad but is easy to get his stuff in usa get a legion mate in u.k to get it for u and then drop ship it across with the ainsworth logos and such covered up
