Engineer boots

Recommended Posts

I came across a pair of boots today that I think are more accurate. The Jack boots arr too tall. I do understand that they can work, so I propose a level 2 boot. These are "Hunter Bay Black Waterproof Commuter Boots" They do have a zipper on the inside, so it would be easily concealed.

As you can see in the attachment, they match up better. I even found some jack boots by the same artist, so you can see the differences in source materials.

I also noticed this . Not just for Engineer but for Lt. Sunber . I think a short boot would be far more accurate than the current style .

I'm liking it. Those look like a dfferent style than most engineer boots. Can we get a picture of both sides of the boots, as well a pic of you standing in them with your pant legs tucked into the top? That would be awesome!

i googled the boot and found "sorry item sold out" It must be an older boot. I noted that sizes were below 13, far too small for my big landing gear.

after the server move it looks like your link is borked.  its giving me a 404 error.

I found size 13 boots and went for it! I should have them on Friday or Saturday of next week.  Hope they fit!!

It would be fine for Level 1 approval, its what Im wearing because at that time, we did not have the commuter boot information.   My commuter boots from Ebay should be here tomorrow and Im hoping they fit. I have monster size 13.5EEE feet.

Consult your GML, but since it IS in the CRL for the Engineer, it would be approved as Level 1.  Now, for Spec Ops Det levels, those have not been set up yet by the Det

Nice find. Do you have a link to those?

I think they're out of production, so people are finding them through web searches and eBay.

David, get me a picture of you suited up in your engineer wearing those. If they work and look correct I'm going to submit it the to LMOs for level 2.  People have bought them, but no one has supplied a photo of them actually being worn in relation to the rest of the body for an accurate comparison.

Ill do my best to get to them this weekend. I need to see how they look in relation to my suit since I lopped off a little of the legs of my suit, but they should be fine for blousing and I have Army blousing rubbers.

After looking over the comics and browsing the web I’ve gotta say these Weatherproof Commuter boots  are probably the closest boots to the ones from the comics . I just ordered a pair , should get here around the same time as my MP40 pouches .

It's been rather hard to find appropriate boots in my size. All the appropriate commuter style boots I've found are far too big for me. I wear a Size 7 or 7.5 men's. The ones I have found in my size are like these https://www.amazon.com/SkaDoo-Comfortable-Fur-Lined-Insultated-Waterproof/dp/B01N8UJQX9/ref=sr_1_3?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1532642336&sr=1-3&nodeID=7147441011&psd=1&keywords=black%2Bweatherproof%2Bboots&refinements=p_89%3ASkaDoo&th=1&psc=1 with those swoop stitched panels on the outward facing side. Any advice?

You may be able to find a similar boot in 9.5 women's sizes without the decorative stitching. Might be worth a search.

Jon did the pair you have have decorative stitching like the pair linked above?  I may be able to slink into a shoe store and have a look see tomorrow.   Notice I said slink--not stroll.  I like to get IN and OUT of shoe stores!

They looked exactly like the ones I linked up top.  I also found another pair of a different brand at DSW.  I'll post a pic of them soon.  They have some additional stitching and some logos.  If I can clean them up enough, they could work.  So far I'm seeing a pattern of Winter Boots being the right height, so might even be other brands out there.

I know there has been a lot of discussion on this and the "Commuter" boots are all but locked in to the new CRL, but I wanted to give my unsolicited opinion.

I got a pair of Totes commuters here - https://www.kohls.com/product/prd-3653220/totes-dalton-mens-waterproof-winter-boots.jsp?skuid=76138120&ci_mcc=ci&utm_campaign=MENS DRESS/CAS SHOES&utm_medium=CSE&utm_source=google&utm_product=76138120&CID=shopping15&utm_campaignid=9733267153&pid=googleadwords_int&af_channel=CSE&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl6mEw4yq6gIVEvDACh0P8gHIEAQYCSABEgIzr_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

30 Bucks, can't go wrong.  Right?  I dunno.

I don't want to derail all the work that's gone in so far, but FWIW, I'm not convinced these are right.  Let's go to the videotape:

The heel looks great, the toe looks right, there's no laces, but the ankles.  That is not the ankle support of a soldier.  I threw on my Timbs for comparison:

That looks like the proper blousing to me minus the padded ankle. (FWIW Timberland does (did?) make a version without the padding: https://www.shoebacca.com/timberland-6in-basic-waterproof-10069.html?CAWELAID=120280160000015159&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjLvC_s2p6gIVEL7ACh1_SwWxEAQYFiABEgJ22fD_BwE )

Are we hamstringing ourselves with the no laces thing?  Is a lace cover an option?  Like foundry boots?: https://www.gearcor.com/82024cu0/Cofra-Asphalt-Heat-Shield-Heat-Resistant-EH-6-inch-Boot.htm?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_ef8q5Cq6gIVVJJbCh3EVQt9EAQYESABEgJnXvD_BwE

I dunno, what do people think?  That snow boot just feels like Napoleon Dynamite to me.

The boots must match the original art.

No laces.

Please see Kessels boot topic for more.  Also, the Det is not approving the boot, your Garrison GML will be the person who approve the costume.  The Garrison will only be approving a Specialist Level 2 application, which is tighter than Base Level 1 approval.

With respect, the silhouette of the commuters that I posted clearly does not match the art.
