WTF Del Meeko build.

Recommended Posts

So carrying on with the fun building. So I got that BBB delivery about a week ago and I've gotten as far as rough trimming.

Got that box opened up and did inventory.

So it seems everything is there. Lenses from Pole are on order and waiting on customs clearance. I'm pretty sure I'll go for specialist level, but as this is a commission it will be up to the client if he wants to go for that approval.

The trimming has started and so far I'm happy with the way it is going. I have a few questions, but I think I've gotten it mostly sorted out.

So I realized the back plate didn't fit the back without removing the inside section of the back. I'll update as we go.

So these in not sure if they are still too thick or not.

I suppose I'll wait for some input before adding them. Also got the greeblies sanded and ready for paint and gluing.

Si last piece for the day. Shoulder strap mounts done though I'm not sure how the straps work into them after mounting. I trimmed as much as seem manageable, but they're still a tight fit. If anyone has suggestions I'm all for hearing them.

No armor side plates?

Rat here is the backplate image for reference, from our CRL discussion .  Also, all of my rubber straps have a piece of webbing made into it, the rubber strap is for looks, the webbing is what gets fed and sorted through slots/ octagons in my armors.

Moving right along. So I put in the support struts for the mohawk section and then realized it was off a bit. However I realized it was because I cut them just a bit too long.

Now for the positive side of today's progress. The shoulder strap mounts are on and the straps are a tight fit and hold the weight well.

Now I should get on finishing that crimson trooper with the fine sanding and rivets and then paint.

some kits come with an inner strip and an outer cover strip. I made up a few WTF TIE helmets last year but I dont remember, but I know i made a bunch of strips to support the helmet internally.

Yeah I made some cross struts, but they're a little too long. My issue I'm having at the moment is getting rid of the gap near the cheeks. I trimmed at the flash lines and still have a bit of a gap. I'll get some photos added tonight when I'm off work.

Will you be putting another piece of ABS behind the trident opening?   When I cut mine (for Iden), I didn't trim out the entire front.  I trimmed it about 1/2 way as this is where the cutting indentation was.    Granted, I haven't finished my helmet yet.     If you zoom in on the helmet image on the crl, you can see a slight difference in color in the trident front opening.

No I realized I will need to actually trim my strip down as it is the same width as the bottom of the trident. So I'm hoping to get that out of the way this week.

So update time as I haven't done so lately. Still working, but just haven't updated. Lots of stuff has happened so let's get to it.

Up first is the scout belt. All the strapping has been done still need to refinish the back of the belt and paint the rivets.

Up next the Ople lenses still working the mounting, but they will be mounted with velcro.

So I may need to trim a little more on the eyes, but they are looking good so far.

Up next is the side shims that were not included with Walt's kit so I had to fabricate them. I used some beware of dog signs for this.

spacer.png

So I did some test fits on the belt, then a paint test for the mohawk and painted the mic tip and ear greeblies.

So I just got the paint down on the rest of the armor and it is drying now. Just need to get the helmet put together and painted then decals and clear coat and done.

Oh yeah and I got my U-trim in. So I hope this is the right size.spacer.png

I know these photos will look like the paint is textured, but I don't think it is. Just more a product of low light, but I'll know more tomorrow after it dries. I may need to do a wet sand if it is.

That trim looks good from what I can see.

As for the armor, yeah the low light makes it a little hard to see...so not sure on the gloss level of that.

Right now it is strictly a matte finish. I had to paint the TD tube so I wanted to make sure it all matched. So I will be putting a gloss finish on it.

So a quick update.

So a little better look with better lighting of the armor chest, back and TD.spacer.png

Holster and pouches. So the holster straps needed dying and I didn't like the raw leather edges on the pouches.

Holster mounted, yes it is on the left side, for some reason the image mirrored.

So that's it for now I will likely be clear coating tomorrow.

if you did a selfie, the images will be reversed.   What paint are you using for the matt black?

Just some basic Rust-Oleum black flat.
