Instvogel IAE Build

Recommended Posts

After my last troops became pretty exhausting. 4+ hrs in armor are hard for me.

Now i thought of making an IAE.

I already have boots but they need to be cut down.

Also i ordered a Natural Workwear Overall and the hooks for the harness.

Unfortunately i cant find a source for the belt in Germany. At least not in my size. I need at least 130 vm in length. I was thinking of getting two belts and fusing them behind the backpouch.

The backpouch seems to be the next thing i cant find in germany.

I will keep you updated!!

Another Engineer!!! AWESOME!!

yes, you will love the ability to move freely and be comfortable.  I love mine!

All of my belts are fused together at the back because I have to cut two in half and put them together. Mine is overlapped and I use black zip ties to mount them together, and then I cover that with a pouch.

When you build your coveralls, rmember that this is a simple conversion. Follow my tutorial on how to do it. Also pad the leg pockets out with foam or rags.

Im looking forward to seeing your progress !

So Guys, Especially @Blackwatch I need your opinion?

These are the pics of the overall I just got. Its a natural Workwear 4XL Tall and so far the biggest I could find. Its close on the torso length.

I have the option of sending it back or keeping it.
A german maker named HerotecX is in the final stages of making the suit as a complete finished one but not sure about the sizes.

What do you guys think?

if you want to go with HerotecX , they are a known and trusted maker, so that may be a somewhat better fitting option for you. I have heard both ways about HerotecX that its 1: Custom to fit you and 2 Not custom to fit you , based on basic sizes rather than individual measurements.  Defnitely discuss with them what you would be receiving should you order theirs.

You will probably have to order the pouches online.  @Heavy can you give any input on where you found your pouches?

How is your boot search going?

Thanks for the photos, Im looking forward to where this goes.

Thanks for the tag David. Great to see another engineer on the way :-)

I have sewn my own suit, since I always have problems finding the right size in a coverall. My hipps just wont fit in a size that is right for my short height LOL

I got my pouches and belt from  aliexpress and the gas mask pouch from the e bay, I couldn´t find any in Europe either. I was a bit nervous getting them from China but luckily it is not cheap materiale + great prices. Since it has been a couple of years, sadly those I got them from, has closed.
But just search for : military molle pouch phonecase, handcuff case, gas mask, multi modular storage big pouch and a lot comes up.
Hope it helps - looking forward to seeing you in the ranks Chris.

Regarding Boots.

I have these laying around.

I think these will do fine. They shall be cut down to the needed size. Which is no problem since my calves are way too big for them.

Any suggestions?

Mine is this - I removed the strap and velcro, added the snaps for specialist level.  https://www.bodyarmoroutlet.com/collections/pouches/products/condor-modular-gas-mask-pouch-black

Thank you Heidi! Your insight is MUCH appreciated!!!!!!!!!

I definitely want you to apply for specialist status once you are approved, so you will want two snaps on the back instead of the one.  OR  what looks like two snaps. My Velcro holds mine together and I added two snaps to the flap part, and stuffed the bag with foam scraps.  When you are setting up your harness, pay close attention to the mounts at the bottom. Mine are hidden at the very bottom edge of the belt, and I have black zip ties holding them tight to the belt from behind. Its not pretty, but no one looks at the inside of my belt.

Honestly, if it will go through i might go for specialist. But right now basic would be enough.

Will do some movement testing in the suit because its close body length wise.
Arms and legs no problem, but my torso is too long/wide.

Snaps shouldnt be a problem. Did 100s of them for the Shadow trooper.

torso length is a common issue for all of us that wear coveralls.  Ive never worn armor other than chest parts, so I have like 8 or 9 different sets of coveralls.  When you get tall, it stretches the fabric.
