you will need: -mic tips -metal screen material -scissors -superglue (optional) -highlighter or dry erase marker 1. Cut mesh into circle a little bigger than the size of a nickel (this is so it stretches and doesnt fold) 2. Sandwich the mesh between mic tip and upside-down highlighter/marker cap like this 3. Push down slowly and evenly you can see what i did here 4. trim the excess. this is so it goes in evenly and you dont end up mashing it down 5. pull now-bent screen out and flip it over. you can put a bit of glue around the inside, id recommend so it wont fall out. when installing i like to use an exacto knife to evenly push in the screen from the sides do the same with the other one and there you go!

I found them in the only place I didn't look lol. Helmets finally done! I'll have to make a mic tip tut, but anyhow reassembly is a no brainer. I drilled some new holes farther back to seat the brow closer to the face and bring the ears in a little more. But there was too much material cut by the right ear in back so I'll have to use the big old neck seal for now to hide the gap. I was using a mirror afx fast shield with my motorcycle helmet for awhile so I was gonna put that as the eyes but it's too thick for my liking to fit the curve of the helmet. I'll have to find an acetate like material but for now I used the smoked lenses from one of those clone trooper talking helmets til I get approved and can switch everything to chrome. Testors silver, flat tipped brush, and a steady hand were used for the frown. Another thing is the tube stripes are the same sheen as the paint so they are there but barely viable, that's still approvable right? Just another reason why we need grey/silver stripes approved dammit! Are the black trap decals necessary for approval? I didn't even bother since you can't tell either way -

the dome is drying but its much better than before that had some runs i wasnt happy with. its almost shinier than the face but hopefully a good polish can even everything out since i dont use clearcoat. heres the rubber im using. from left to right old brow, new brow (just over 1/8th inch taller and looks better), old neck trim, new neck trim. the new neck is not screen accurate but i have a bunch of these ill sell if anyones interested. its kind of a "g" style. the enclosed part wont trap dust (or spiders in rare occurences!) -
I still think grey/silver should be an approvable stripe option. Its on all the reference pics, and. Or armor isn't very photogenic as it is

all my armor has been collecting dust in grocery bags in my closet lol, i think i was at the part where i have to respray the dome cuz it doesnt meet my "exacting standards". yet i also got the crazy ideasometimes to paint all my armor white i just keep remembering how ill be the only black stormy in the dune sea and everyone'll love me, plus i feel like i have brothers here. so im back on! -
The one on the right? I was checking her out too

Shoulder straps are glued to the chest piece but are not to the back piece, and there should be no gap between the ab and kidney plates when viewed from the side
-
That turned out well, ive been blowing of finishing mine. But my motorcycle looks spec ops lol
-
I think troopermaster does heroes
-
It doesn't matter what paint you use, just the end result lol. Any scratches should be filled by the primer, but the whole point of sandpaper is to make millions of tiny scratches for the paint to bite into

Looking great! i'm sure there's nova stripe painting techniques in the nova section

Need some opinions on TX armor...
DizzyStormtrooper replied to DarthDyer76's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
Oh good. since you didn't make it I can be honest I hate it. Belt looks like ish fibergkass those Chinese recasters make. It looks like somebody recast an ata with am torso and knee plate after they trimmed them and did a crap job. It would probably look better in white. Black shows everything, in a bad way. -

Test first on the tumor or something else that's plastic so you can get a feel for the paint. You can do very light coats every few minutes between each coat and build it up, the next coat will "melt" or absorb into the previous coat. Do it enough so that the paint bonds into one solid coat and you'll get a good shine. That's what I used to do on model cars, especially with black since its hardest to get right. But with the rustoleum there isn't much time to do that as its hard to work with on its own so I had to do one all at once rotating a lot to get it even everywhere -

well i finally had time to prime and paint, im not even going to bother how to teach you to spraypaint properly, but i can say out of all the paint ive used through the years, i still like krylon best. whoever said krylon and rustoleum dont work well together mustve been high on the fumes. i used a simple one coat of good ol' krylon grey primer. i use a certain technique when i paint things. i always do curve edges and crevases FIRST, then the main areas. think of it like this, the aerator wells need extra attention since they go in so deep. normally one might just paint the whole face smooth but the aerator inside wont have the same amount of paint as the bigger flatter areas, might even be spotty and rough with no paint at all. by covering the wells, teeth, and under and inside the eyes first, youll have the same amount of paint all over, if you get what i mean. so a good way to do this is paint with the part upside down so you get all up in those hidden areas then flip it over and continue with the rest. the ears should be done before the face, then the dome last, this way your used to how the paint will shoot out, what thickness you need to lay etc. by doing the ears first, if you screw up and need to sand and repaint, the ears are not much space to sand, whereas youll have to put up with the face forms all over again, and that took me 2 hours alone to finish sanding. ears were about 30 min each. the thing about this rustoleum, which ive never use before but was recommended as its super tough for armor and super shiney, is that the nozzle requires a bit more pressure to activate than most cans ive used, so i had a hard time keeping the flow consistant without the can sliding down my hand. it also comes out thin, but it all wants to come out at once, so theres thin paint rushing out fast, you have to be very careful you dont lay too much in one area cuz itll run. second, the dome has always been the hardest part to paint due to its size and shape. you have to keep spinning it on your hand making sure to get an even coat all around. even as an experienced spraypainter i got a few runny areas on this so i have to resand those areas and spray another day. the face however came out perfect the first time. shing shing sparkle sparkle everytime you spray with this paint, let it dry for 5 days. i only needed one coat for the ears and face, but even E6000 dries faster than this. work on your other projects til then FIVE DAYS! -
I'm working on a "size small" helmet, since there aren't set sizes, its smaller than screen derived so shorter troopers don't have the Bobble head thing going on. But dam, your like a Japanese super-deformed character with that thing! I've never heard of that maker before.
-
What's your height and weight? And what helmet is that?
-
Yeah mate the brow doesn't need to be cut shorter I just took the trim off, you'll see what I mean about adjusting when you take yours apart, might have to drill a new hole as I did, but I'll show that later
-
The low brow isn't a cut its just positioning the face better, and closer. Is that a crack in the back?
