  1. Congrats and welcome to the Spec Ops ohana!
  2. Even if the helmet kit is white, a good coat of primer and then several light coats of Rustoleum 2x gloss black and some mirrored lenses ( I ordered two 4x4" samples and cut and molded to shape these https://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cut_to_size_plastic/acrylic_sheets_mirror_clear/521 ) and wah lah ... a TX helmet you have
  3. HMs are approvable, however they are not as high at the ankles as the imperial boots so shin/calf amour slides up, and the Doc Martens have the sole gaps exposed. If you have TK boots and aren't going to use the TK any longer you can always paint them.
  4. Well .... never mind my question. On page three of the Optional/Variants thread I found Pat's post with a picture of the wrap around strap. Move along! LOL
  5. So I was bored at work today, and in typical Chaos fashion I dug into some detailed photos and have a question. The CRL states Death Trooper Specialist Chest Rig For 501st Approval: Wraps around the front of the wearer covering the abdominal plate but not the belt or chest plate. Has a webbing strap that secures around the waist. The reference photo shows the wrap around strap, other than the Condor chest rig having this feature what reference was used? I have looked again and again at the DT holding the TK doll and think that the lower rectangular ring is connected to another rectangular ring attached to the side of the lower back plate and both are connected with a elastic strap which has a Velcro closure. I can't seem to insert photos here so I uploaded it my Imgur. I have circled what I am talking about. Anyone else think this is the case or am I just seeing things due to way too much coffee this morning? http://imgur.com/a/8xLq0 I am building Jim's kit and plan on putting a snap for a piece of webbing with a rectangular ring for when I use the chest rig and using a set up just like my reference photo and don't want to be dinged for not having a wrap around strap.
  6. I use my wife's sewing machine ALL THE TIME!
  7. Chase, they have a few more. I had to work on my VW Thing last night so I didn't get around to opening the magazines and taking pictures. I'll do it this afternoon.
  8. Reviving this thread. I just finished building my E-11D. I based my size on an analysis of the Celebration's photo an a known size for the Hengstler counter. Somebody want to double check my measurements to make sure I didn't mess anything up? Mahalo http://imgur.com/a/XGmSW

  10. Welcome to the Spec Ops community. There are a lot of great build threads on here. I've just started my build (Jim Tripon's kit) and these folks assistance has been amazing.
  11. https://www.amazon.c...GSK3QSJ6F72ZFDW So I was thinking about your visor issue. I used this to make my Shadow lenses. It can be heated and curved. If you cut this and attach / run the blue LED strip around the outside edge, the blue will illuminate the acrylic and the mirrored surface will reflect the light so your eyes will not be seen. I thought about this when I was contemplating a TFU Shadow Stormtrooper build. Here is an example of what I am talking about:
  12. I should get these delivered Monday 12 June. When I get them I'll post up some pics and thoughts about what it will take to make these screen accurate.
  13. For those who have issues getting real HK G3 mags due to fire arms red tape, here is an option for you. They are light weight and sturdy. 10 pack for around $44 or so bucks is less than $5 each. http://www.ebay.com/...%3D322007806575
  14. Oh that pouch came out really nice. Excellent work Mark.
  15. Nice job Mark! What did you use for your pattern and dimensions? I'm going to take a go at making the pouch and speed strap. Mahalo!
  16. I have Jim's kit and to be honest I'm old as well, but the new material that he is using is much lighter and more flexible than the older fiberglass kits. I would try and find someone close to you that has one of Jim's DT kit. If you like I can pile all mine on a scale and weight it for you.
  17. Steve from Imperial Light and Magic has been working on a few models. This one uses one of his Kylo Ren voice changers and an aker amp to create real time interactive scrambled voice sounds. I guess you could practice making the garbled sounds.
  18. Congrats Nick! Great build and it looks awesome.
  19. Stay with it! Your build is looking great. I too had some fit issues around the waist and had to put put extension pieces. Slow and steady gets it done right the first time.
  20. This question keeps getting asked on a lot of the boards and build group pages. If the extendable stock used in R1 is indeed an HK-416, then the narrow end of the butt plate points down. This design allows the shooter to place the larger end against his/her shoulder and allows the narrow end to extend down into the crease made by the upper arm and chest in the arm pit area. https://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/catalog/view-5-416-arm4-stock-pdwc_1105_detail.jpg
  21. Well said. I think things occur for a reason. It was noted screen accuracy is 16, many in the community only have 15. So what happens? The community cames together to do two things. 1st make allowances to ensure acceptance for those with 15. 2nd gracious members came up with an inexpensive solution to bring those with 15 to "screen accuracy" Cudos to those who came up with a solution. The SpecOps Ohana thanks you!
  22. Soooo how many are following the poop storm about the CRL and 15 verses 16 cogs over on the FB DT Builder's page?
  23. That is why I am getting my kit from Jim! LOL he and I have the same body shape. I am hoping to be the first DT here in the Pacific Outpost … “Goals†everyone has to have at least one. Jim, I was wondering if I used 1 ½ inch lifts in my boots if it would affect how the shins look. Any thoughts. I hate hearing “You're a little short for a Storm Trooper†LOL
