Looking good - Can't wait to watch the progress.

1 vote for Doopy here - it's what I use and depending on your skill level you can just buy the conversion kit or the "PVC Pipe kit" ... looks fantastic, and pretty in expensive. Mind you in Canada with the strict import laws (covering firearms and replicas, props and toys) and general firearm possession laws there aren't too many options up here. EDIT: nice looking blaster Jim!

Cutting the Cod should I, shouldn't I, and if so How
ELP replied to Tekket's topic in Armor Tips, Tricks and Tutorials
Wow .. never knew it was such a point of contention ... As to specialist - you don't need it. Hope this helps Steve ... Thanks for posting! -
Always glad to see new faces!

looking forward to watching the progress!

Doug - Thanks for the reply. And please don't take any of the comments personally ... We're all just pretty unimpressed that someone would try to sell that pile of plastic as anything other than a pile of plastic. Thank-you for taking the initiative and asking! Hope to see you in Armour soon PS - This is also why we strongly caution making any purchases on eBay ... while there is a good vendor or two out there most sales can and will turn out to be more trouble then they are worth.
-
Personally I wouldn't buy it ... Again just my personal opinion ... There are a tonne of great makers out there that can supply you with a kit for really reasonable prices. And if you're looking to make a death trooper then politely ask a known maker to see if there are any "seconds" available - a bad pull, or mis-shaped piece. Some makers will have a few kicking around that they may give you a price break on. Again just my personal opinion.
-
Hmmm ... I really don't like the plastic at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock around the 'O' in the OII as it look raised, and the O doesn't look very sharp ... but again just a merch guys opinion.
-
And this is just a personal opinion but it looks like someone has been recasting (casting off another set of armour) again only my opinion ... it looks really iffy. The chest piece looks exactly like an AM chest only with all the lines being less sharp. Also looks like some of the pieces have been heavily trimmed ... the back piece for instance should wrap around the body a bit more, as wit the chest. If you're looking for good Armour from a good maker then send a pm to the detachment armorer or check out the "for sale" item in the junkyard - "for sale ABS AM Shadowtrooper kits". Pics just look a tad iffy ... again just my opinion, and hey I'm the merch guy ... so take that for what it's worth .

Were can I find a kit so I can start building?
ELP replied to LastZamWesell's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
welcome, and PM incoming. As a general rule we don't post information about who makes what and how to contact them on the forums. Also please feel free to pop your head into the "report in" area and post a quick "hello" ... Don't worry the "report in" title sounds a bit more regimented then it actually is . EDIT: you'll probably have a tonne of questions as well - construction techniques, which helmet, etc. As they come up please feel free to read over the forums as there is a tonne of info, and please ask any questions. And again welcome to the family . -
Dizzy's CAP-W bucket Restoratation and Build

Looking good! Nice techniques and tutorial! -
Absolutely ... my wife has TD clips that size and construction, and she goes bombing through crowds at cons ... Never worried about her TD being taken as a "souvenir", por having it come off. They just look huge when they aren't attached to the belt and with the rest of the kit.
-
Nice! And good call on the reference aspect. The size of the clips on the TD still give me pause ... They look HUGE. There is a travelling LFL show going on right now that has a lot of screen used costumes and props (identities http://www.starwarsidentities.com/#!/) ... Don't get to touch them but you can get about 4 inches away. Can still see actors names in the buckets ... It was really neat.

Nice - looking forward to watching this unfold

Question for those who troop with glasses..
ELP replied to Faithfuldemise's topic in Armor Tips, Tricks and Tutorials
my wife has trooped her TK with glasses but after a few events she bought contacts because they are so much easier. She also wears the RT Mod helmet so she has tonnes of room and even still she found them to be troublesome. As you can't do contacts - your best bet would be the prescription sports lenses suggested above ... And just find as large a bucket as you can. Have a look at Izzi's bucket list to gauge sizes. http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/122-how-to-pick-a-tx-bucket/ There are a few that aren't listed but that'll give you an idea of general sizes. -
here is some basic info for ya ....Some of the links are over on the FISD - same kits of the same material being constructed ... ours just look better Basic Tools: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11760-basic-tools-needed-for-armour-building/ Terry / Panadtrooper's AM build: Great info, and he's using the AM kit (note it's in white - his practice run before his black kit ... haha!) http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/10434-pandatroopers-am-build-threadam/ Basic Tutorials: hosted here: http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/69-tips-and-how-tos/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/6372-index-of-all-tutorials/ hope that helps.

AM is a nice looking kit ... Clean lines, and can really be tweaked in terms of sizing down. I got mine through a guy on the boards - will pm info. He is a great guy to deal with. And I happen to know he's around his computer today. I and a female trooper (5'6") both wear the AM in our Garrison. She loves the kit. Just took a bit of trimming. In terms of helmet sizing read Izzi's thread on bucket sizing - Arakyel's isn't included but I'd guess it's in the Medium group. And what will determine what fits in a specific buck it's so much the bucket or the electronics ... It's the size of your noggin, and what else you want to put in there. EDIT: and just going forward please remember to not discuss pricing openly - Thanks!

All good questions! Here are a list of posts you can check out. Some of which are over on the FISD - same kits of the same material being constructed ... ours just look better . Basic Tools: http://www.whitearmo...rmour-building/ Terry / Panadtrooper's AM build: Great info, and he's using the AM kit (note it's in white - his practice run before his black kit ... haha!) http://www.whitearmo...build-threadam/ Basic Tutorials: hosted here: http://forum.501stsp...ps-and-how-tos/ http://www.whitearmo...-all-tutorials/ In regards to Scissors: I use kitchen sheers - Crazy sharp, slightly curved blade and very heavy duty - for cutting through bone and taking apart poultry carcasses - These work really well for me and then I finish the edge with a palm sander. In regards to the return edge: Before you start making them (as you'll need well fitted armour parts first) take some trim / scraps and do a few practice runs / mock ups. You'll see what discoloration can happen when the shiny black ABS is manipulated. Then you can make the call if you want it on your own kit. Also get on your local garrison board to source out local supplies as those troopers have been where you are. Most troopers are more than happy to help a new trooper out, and if you organize an armour party troopers will generally head over (sometimes with tools you may not have) and give you a hand with your build. Generally costs a few pizzas and a few beverages but you meet the locals and have a great and productive time! Also about Terry's build - He's a good friend and my Squad leader here in BC, but he is not a large guy by any means, so he has taken what is arguably one of the biggest out of the box Armour kits and trimmed it to fit a guy about 160lbs and 5'6" tall. So there is a tonne of great information on assembly and techniques but unless you are his size don't feel the need to trim any where near as much as heed did. For reference I'm 6'1" and I wear the AM so he took off a lot of material. Hope that helps!

I'm in the eFX ... I like it. But i got in on the pre-order so paid a decent price. Aside from look, also take into account size - For us large "brained" individuals it is a real concern . Izzi's post (link below) give a nice size comparison but Araykel's bucket isn't in the size chart. I'd guess at a medium to large from what I've seen but that is a guess. http://forum.501stsp...ck-a-tx-bucket/

Just wondering if you can post a few pics so we can get a better idea of what is going on ... That way any advice would hopefully be more on point. PS - Don't Panic ... yet EDIT: looks like great minds think alike ... but have drastically different typing speeds ...

great plan, can't wait to see the results ... Oh yea and welcome aboard!
