Imperial Flametrooper (Jedi Fallen Order)
stevechewbacca replied to stevechewbacca's topic in Imperial Flametrooper (JFO)
Thank you guys Well, i really thought it was worst than what you seem to say. But yes, i think i'll try to have it smoother and smoother. I already talk to a friend whom can make me a better base for the backpack if needed. So if I'm not happy with what I 'm able to do, I can ask him ^^ Hopefully I can at least clean the helmet this week. @Raider, I feel you bro. I'm starting to plan working back on my old Navy Commando to make it better. it never ends I guess 😅 -

Guys, I need your eyes and objectivity. Here are some close ups of my backpack and my helmet. Aaaaand now that I look closely, I can see some defects as the print lines and prints defects raising (the print I received was not a good one and I spent a looooot of time trying to get it in shape). The fact is, I'm part of the French GML team and all the 3d parts we receive for approval need to be smooth. So, I'm affraid my parts won't pass the process especially because we can not base a new CRL over something not clean. I'm pretty sure the flamethrower will do fine (will check it later) and the helmet too as the defects we can see will be covered by the weathering process (unless you tell me otherwise of course, I really want you to be extremely honest please). But my main doubt is about the backpack. So my questions are : - do the lid and backpack need a cleaning ? If yes : - do you think it is better to reprint entirely the backpack core (I have some parts I can split to treat them appart if needed) or do I "simply" need to try to fill the defects ? Thank you so much in advance. I really want it to be cool and great and enjoyable for both the public and me and as the first and a GML, I cannot fail it Cheers ! -

Thank you ! The weather is way better now, i'll try to work on it in the next days ^^ I understand, i made a few mistakes like this myself. You know, my first armor, entirely made by me as I had 0 budget was vacform with a heatgun over a gas bottle... I realized a few years later that I could have blown the family house and kill everyone -

In fact I use the canva part of the vinyl on the outer side so it is not shiny and looks like the flightsuit. This way, the overall look is consistent I'll give it a try and re model the entire mouth part for it. Well, it's definitely over to get a version for friday but at least it should be more accurate when done. -

Hello there ! Little question here. I put the vinyl material on the mouth part. I did it the same way I did my last version but now i'm seeing that it is not accurate at all. But i really don't know how to make something correct. I thought i can re model it with a little recessed area on the bottom to glue the vinyl and paint the upper part. Hoping i can hide correctly the seam during the painting process. What do you think ? Here are the pics -

Haha yes, I'm thinking about it since I read your post during my way to the office 😛 I made that mistake for a piece of the flamethrower. The mouth is way more complicated so I'll have to be very concentrate and careful when making the negative. -

Thank you sir I did it and provided the pics in the references' topic. I think I have all the ref I need for now, thanks. It is just the cowl part that is giving me some troubles ^^" But I'll figure it out. No problem -

Hi guys ! Quick question here As I have almost finished sanding the helmet, I'll soon assemble it. The question is for the cowl. Last version was made with fabric but it is hard to cut without getting some fraying and threads. Would some heated vinyl sticker (like automotive ones or for kitchen customisation) do the job ? It will be opaque and with a heatgun or hairdryer, it can go to the impossible flametrooper's mouth's shape. But I'm affraid about the loose area and how it will react and stay 🤔 What are your thougths please ? (it is possible that I go to the store today for the paint so if this solution is correct I'll by some vinyl too) Cheers ! -

New update ! Got the gaiters and kama today. They are gorgeous. I really understand why almost everyone in my garrison ask her to make new costumes 😛 So the motivation kicked in and I made a harness to make the backpack (which is pretty big) stay in place and not beeing hold only by the chestplate. I tried it without a harness for my first tests and it almost choked me haha by raising the chest onto my throat so I had to figure something out. I also painted the new aerators/mic tip/whatever we will call them 😛 Next steps : - going to the work store to get some bondo like material to fill the helmet. - sand the helmet, the backpack and the flamethrower - paint - getting ready for the new game release -

Hi there ! Little update : got my flight suit and it fits me perfectly The kama and gueters are being made this week. The helmet is fully printed and I need to smooth it now. Now, what i need is to find the right material for the cowl. The first I used for my previous helmet version is not that great. -

Hi there ! Little update I took the dimensions of a snow helmet and resized mine according to them. Printing will start this week end. The "aerators" as I call them have already been re printed with the new size and this time on my resin printer so the chrome/metal effect will be far better ^^ The sanding process of the backpack got a new start. And I finally have a quote and estimated delivery time for my suit : june 2023 as my seamstress is a bit busy ? This will let me finish the armor by then. I'm baaaaack !
