stevechewbacca replied to stevechewbacca's topic in Imperial Flametrooper (JFO)
Ok, I didn't resist, I made a fitting test ? Result : - The canva part of the helmet needs to be enlarged - The backpack needs a little lift up Otherwise, it is very comfy for now and the sight is great ! I'm happy with it -

Huge update today ! I received my mini-me figure and glued the helmet together to get a good look at it. I have to say that I'm pretty happy with it and cannot wait to test in with the armor on as well as finish it with the decals and weathering ? -

Today's update : - skirt added to the bottom of the helmet. I'll have to cut the edges to match the pattern of the helmet and let appear some black areas. Not visible on the pic below : some adjustments will be required on the printed part underneath to make the jaws of the helmet less wide and more natural But overall I like it ! -

You are 100% right. I thought about that for the side parts and for the flamethrower. But not the main parts. For the next ones I'll model, I'll definitely think as a puzzle rather than a whole piece. -

It is there to prevent the thin parts from breaking. Unfortunately it adds some weight but not too much so that's ok. The thing is that I hadn't any plastic left to do it. If I ever had to do it again I would try to add some resin. But in my appartment I cannot do that ^^'. So I choose the easiest way ? -

Thank you very much ! Same here haha ! I never liked the snowie look but when JFO came, the flame was like a love at first sight xD I really loved his skull like face mostly. In fact it is a spray can, you apply the foam into 3/4 of your area you want to fill and it grows by itself during approximately 2 hours. Then you cut the parts that are outside the area you wanted to fill with a simple cutter and you can sand it very easily. It it light weight and can help solidify some parts. Here I needed it because some areas were really thin so to get it more consistent and solid, I needed to reinforce them. Now I can put some filler on the full piece -

Oh yeah I see. I would say that this is a kind of perspective matter in this pic. I tryied to put some material and it looked quite good. I'll show you when I got the real good textured skirt to glue Also, today's progress : - The last 2 pieces of the back pack are waiting at my friend's so I should get them by the week end. - Helmet white paint done. I have made some little mistakes but none that cannot be used for the weathering process as I've done far worse on my shoretrooper or my navy commando ^^ Cheers ! - Steve -

So, here are some pics of where I am - Comparison of my backpack with a snowie's (there will obviously be a big filling and sanding process :p) - Test fit of my secondary parts on it to check the fitting and size (it is all perfect) - Sanding again the helmet to get rid of the lines and seams. It should work this time and the places where it is not 100% clean will be perfect for the dusty weathering process -

I know right ! Well, at least the visor part is good and I just have to take more time on the dome and skirt only ^^" -

Yeah totally I just checked it again and it is the same on every seams. Also the print lines (some of them at least) are still visible. I guess i failed at the sanding process. Too bad because my paint job wasn't bad for once ^^" -

Today's update : We did an armor party with 2 friends and I - glued all my flamethrower together and sand it. - got the 2nd quarter of my backpack. - started painting my helmet. But I just realized now that it have an horizontal line in half the dome that is bigger than the rest. Seems like a seam line between 2 printed pieces So, I'll have to sand this part again and start the paingin process again. See ya ! Cheers ! - Steve -

Oh yes sorry ^^ I'm starting to think that I'll need to re print the mouth part ? Also, on the in game shots, the material seems to be the same as the pants. It could be easier for me to go for that than the vinyl/faux leather I used today. What do you think ? -

Okay big question here. I tryied to put the vinyl "skirt" on the mouth of my helmet. But the amount of details and recessed areas makes it really impossible to get it clean. Any idea on how to mount it, please ? I imagined gluing it on the bottom (but it is a really short area), then add some filler and spray paint the whole thing in white. What do you think ? Also, I need to get rid of the glue I put on the helmet not. Hot glue on a PLA helmet is not my best idea to date ? -

Today's update : - Dye color received for the pouches - Pants received, a bit tight fit but I guess I can modify them as the button will not be visible in the end ? - White spray cans ordered to paint the helmet and backpack - Molotow chrome marker ordered to paint the aerators of the helmet. Things to do : - Paint and mount the helmet - Wait for the 3 other parts of the backpack to mount and paint it - Glue and paint the flamethrower - Find the material and make the gaiters -

You're right but I guess there is no model to match the references I'd need to go for the closest or to custom ones ? -

Hi guys ! Well, I tryied again to source the boots that are covered with the gaiters but could'nt find something really relevant. If anyone as any idea for something, at least validable, I'll be really happy to look at it Also, I received the flamethrower's hoses, my friend as strated printing the backpack main part and my pants are on their way "almost there...." as some rebel scum once said ? -
