JuiceBox's Security Trooper Build
TonyJuiceBox replied to TonyJuiceBox's topic in Imperial Security Trooper - Andor
BELT SETUP Simply my Wampa Wear belt, with the correct sized/colored belt boxes added, along with the correct code disc mounted. Nothing much more to say than that. -

PIVIOTING! I still plan to make v2 first as I won't have the armor before I have the uniform, but I also plan to make both the riot helmet and standard helmet. I think I'll go with Riot first since I don't yet have a source for the standard helmet but can start printing the riot one shortly. -

I've found these files, at a quick glance they look good to me, any thoughts? Riot Trooper Helmet (andor) STL File (download) - Etsy -

DLT-19x Also optional but as Del's primary weapon, I had to have it! I used a DLT-19 base from Galactic Armory and just didn't print the bipod. I then found a scope off thingiverse and glued it on top.. crooked. I will be tearing it off and regluing shortly. I painted the scope separately from the blaster so I can get the nice red line all around without worrying about too much overspray. -

E-11 While blasters are optional, I feel weird standing around without one. I made this ROTJ E-11 awhile ago. It's based off some.. not so great.. files on thingiverse, but it was free! U-tracks are pretty delicate though! -

BOOTS Arguably one of the more difficult parts, I ended up with keeptrooping "tall jackboots". Initally I had some taller than average normal jackboots approved for Iden and Hask, but have since realized these are more accurate. Also a comparison to normal sized jackboots. -

THERMAL DETONATOR I believe this is also a shadow scout detonator. I kinda glued the larger greeblie a little crooked, so I plan to fix that shortly. The back side has an insert plate glued in and 2 metal hooks to hook onto the belt. Endcaps gave me a hard time while gluing, I plan to add more reinforcement shortly. HOLSTER Darman's Props on etsy. Fantastic holster! I go to him whenever I need one. Uses velcro to attach to the officer belt. -

SCOUT STYLE POUCHES These were pretty simple. Got them from Mon Cal on etsy. I believe they are just shadow scout pouches. I used some velcro on the back to hold the back flap to the pouch, and they dangle from my vest strap, making it look like they're on the belt strap. -

OVERBELT I also struggled with this. I initially didn't know where the snaps were, what the difference was between this and a shadow scout belt and it was super confusing. Eventually I learned the last boxes on each side have a slope to them, and hopefully that'll be reflected in the next CRL photos when we can update them again. Anyhow I got this from Intergalactic supply as well, and it also has loops inside for the belt. Hip box is nothing special, just a shadow hip box with some leather running through it. Buckles are not functional. -

OFFICER UNDERBELT Pretty simple, it's just a plain officer's belt, ideally with the ROTJ ridges. I went with WampaWear. -

SHOULDER POUCH This was a pain in the ass! I searched ebay, british ebay, german ebay for awhile! I checked all my known reenactor sites and as it turns out black canvas MP-40 pouches are pretty uncommon! Of course a more recent search revealed that they're starting to pop back up again, oh well! The other big issue I had was the stitching. It was all white! I took a sharpie to it and colored it in (front and back) as well as the sides of the leather straps that hold the magazines. I also 3d printed some boxes to be able to make them appear full. Attached with some velcro to my flightsuit. -

VEST This I struggled with the most. Initially trying to find a supplier, I eventually ended up on Jim Tripon. I then realized that the buckles, and pouch bar greeblies were not included, so I had to search for those (found the buckle on here and the bar I modeled on my own). I didn't use too much glue on them since I wasn't sure if it would hold at all, so I plan to reglue before trooping in it. Luckily everything worked out great. For the pouch fillers, I got a garment bag for my officer and it came with a really crappy drawstring bag. I ended up cutting the bag into strips and gluing them like so in the pics. Held it, put super glue, sprayed activator, and presto! It's attached. I recommend asking tripon for extra fabric to be able to do this yourself. -

ARMOR This was deceptively difficult. I bounced around with a total of 3 different armor sets. My initial kit (Iden and Hask) was 3d printed. I trooped it for over 50 troops and have since replaced it. I initially went with JintaProps. Their stuff is good but a bit small. I then decided to go with a mix, Jinta chest/connectors (leather, NOT plastic) and Intergalactic back. This has worked out perfectly for me ever since. I might get the intergalactic chest eventually, just so the proportions match better, but it's not bad by any means. Shoulder straps were replaced by MonCal rubber ones to give it more flex and more space (the Jinta ones are super tiny!) -

COMPAD Compad was also an easy piece for me. I got it off of wampawear. It isn't great.. the buttons are smaller (in line with the CRL) but it is very hard to tell. Mine's also quite faded from the amount of times I've trooped as Iden/Hask. I also got a resin one from Philo, it's a bit smaller so I'm having an issue where the ends pop out of the pocket. I need to add some sort of trimming to get it to stay, just lazy lol. GLOVES Same story as before, Wampa Wear gloves. I currently wear their large but I should've gone with a medium. Ah well. Crinkled cause they're a few years old. -

FLIGHTSUIT This was a fairly easy find. I got mine off Wampa Wear though there are several good sellers out there. CrowProps also does good work, Jim Tripon is also a good option as well. PICS PENDING (gotta wash it) -

HELMET I purchased my helmet from Intergalactic Supply over on facebook (Jason Hill). It's pretty good but has a few issues that I was able to fix easily. The first and biggest one is the exposed screw. I was able to use some of my scrap ABS from my mimban officer to cut a relatively square piece and glue it on top. If you purchase this helmet see if he can go without that screw. Second is the pillbox, by default there is a white trim, you'll need to paint that black as well. Third isn't necessarily wrong, but the tusks aren't metal. It's just mildly annoying since the code discs on the side are. The helmet has got a good amount of space inside. I'm kind of struggling with the padding but I'll get it right eventually. -

Update update update! I am approved!!! Currently on vacation but when I get home I’ll photograph the different bits of my kit and create posts on them accordingly. Kind of a backwards way to do a build guide but who cares! -
The Ghostface's Imperial Security Trooper WIP

I've got a lot of Bailey's stuff (both pre and post sale) The belt boxes are great, though the clips are super strong and have scratched my belt. I've found a work around to stop it though. For Philo's, I had his rogue one boxes in the past. They're alright, but just friction held together so I had it pop off once. The hooks were very flexible which was nice for putting them on but they slide around my belt a lot. I'd say Bailey is the best way to go here. For the belt, I also have both. I prefer Wampa. The buckle, while more inaccurate, appeals to me more. I like the smoothness which doesn't irritate me when I touch it (sensory issues essentially). Darmans is by no means bad though. I only switched because the method darman uses to connect the belt to the buckle (metal piece sticking out) cut me pretty bad on one of my troops, whereas Wampa's buckle has a rounded section for the peg that I can't hurt myself on. Note you will need a replacement code disc for Wampa's belt, as it has grooves. I got mine from Bailey. -

Question for ya. I was looking at the specialist requirements for this costume. I know the CRL's are currently locked and so can't be updated, but will the "Ferrix" weathering still be required now that we've seen them on Ghorman? I need to wait until I receive my uniform from Jim, but it seems his Andor army trooper meets the requirements, would that be the same for this costume as well? -

You will need to get fabric and print the buckles and rectangles for the pouches. Someone on here posted the buckle awhile ago and the rectangles I modeled myself in tinkercad in about 5 minutes. The fabric I took from a very cheap drawstring back I got with my garment bag that just happened to match the fabric used on the vest. I'd ask Jim if he could include some extra fabric to wrap around the boxes. I'd also be willing to send you the files I used for the vest fillers and whatnot. -

Small update, I had 4 items of feedback. 1: Pillbox should be all black. I was able to paint the small part that was not black. Just an oversight by me. 2: Shoulder pouch needs to have no white stitching and no unfinished edges. I had already done the stitching but didn't know I couldn't have unfinished edges. This has been fixed as well. 3: Need to verify vocoder is a separate piece. Took a few extra pics to show this 4: Need to verify the small round dimple on the right side of the backplate. Took a few extra pics to show this as well. Overall the fixes I needed were minor, so I should get my official approval any day now! -

I know they don't have the corrects shoulder bells for this costume, so I plan to get those separately.
