Jeditid's Flametrooper Build WIP

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on making the join for the rubber belt at the side and hide it all behind the pouch loop, possibly with snaps on elastic or just using snaps to clip together - haven't worked that out yet. It could also be riveted to the rear of the waist band as that's hidden under the tank bracket.

At the front I think I will be using rivets to hold the front boxes on to the belt and also put them through the waist band too. That way it's all connected and less fussy to kit up with. Once complete the Ab plate and waist band will almost be as one piece then and easier to handle.

If it helps any, I used chicago screws for the front boxes. Rivets tend to want to pull through that belt (I learned that when I first built the FO TK). I then put sticky velcro in various spots around the waist armor and glued velcro to the webbing. Lastly, I have my belt closure behind the white pouch. The whole waist assembly goes on very quick and easy and I don't have to adjust anything so I'm very happy with it. It also doesn't matter much every time that belt buckle loosens itself up because it's attached all the way around. I'd take pics, but I'm out of town for 5 more days. :)

Getting close man!

Cheers for the heads up Clint, I'll look at that issue with rivets, I've learned the hard way myself with that, so do tend to use washers under the rivets now - that helps stopping things pulling through but good tip though. I'm with you regarding attaching the belt, Velcro and or glue is a good bet, and yes to have it all joined behind the pouch makes sense and you can hide a multitude of sins ;)

Getting closer - wont have my gaskets for 2 weeks - so will make up as much of the calves, forearms and thighs as I can and then properly join when I have them, dont want it too tight or too loose.

Need to sort attaching the shoulder bells and have them sitting at the right height with that "ledge" and then I can tidy up and remake the harness straps as I know it all works and then I can prime and paint the chest and back piece along with the rest .

Closer each day :)

so did the spats last night with 6" elastic, works well. Refitted the quick connect hose to the tanks and flamethrower. Used Rare Earth magnets to connect to the flamethrower - with 2 superglued to the spigot on the thrower and 2 more glued on the end of my hose.

Seems to work really well and should take most of the strain too. Also got a quick release the other end - so easy storage.

Mocked up the biceps and trimmed, now off to my seamstress to get the gaskets done so I can fit everything else properly to allow for the gaskets.

Finding painting a nightmare though ! got some cracking the other day on the chest. may end up taking it all in to a body shop and asking a pro to do it !

Next job is to attach rubber belt, boxes and crotch and butt plate and get everything else fitted except legs and arms. All the photos i see say that it's overlap construction on thighs and shins, probably velcro on the insides. Then flush seams on outside shins and over lap outside thighs.

Get some photos up later.

So just a few test fittings, shins on the way and the suit in for painting this week.

Then to repaint lines, add butt plates and then I'm done! Ready for clearance

So I'm sending the suit in for its paint job now, then I'll add the speaker cloth to the holes, and the thigh strap with the bullets. Other than that I do believe I'm done ! So just been to MCM Comic Con in Birmingham, UK and a few of the guys wanted to take some pictures. It would be rude not to let them do it - so here's a few. There's a couple more I am waiting on for true legendary status - but I'm stoke with these !!

So after a few years of having this costume and as more accurate Lids have become available - I've found my "forever lid" lol !

Really happy with the sculpt on this and so updated from old (Left) to new (Right) this week.

Thought I'd better kit up and show it now with the new lid.
