  1. Had a few moments today so I decided to rig a bit of this. Not much left to do here. I just need to rig the Ab plate and legs and I'll be set to go. -iz
  2. Still working on this... Pounded some snaps and am going to start gluing them in place between to night and tomorrow. Then it's just a matter of cutting the rigging and polishing it all up. -iz
  3. Still working on this. Slowly but steadily. Took apart and rebuilt the thermal to repaint the gray and add some custom clips instead of using velcro. Any other future Magmas making progress? -iz
  4. Okay, I did a bit. Glue, velcro, cut the butt from the kidney and the cod from the ab plate. Also cut the leather I'm going to use for the belt. And now the reason i need to cut a belt. The thighs were way to small, so I had to cut up the belt and make something to extend the back. -iz
  5. Did a little work on this. Still needs tube stripes which weren't in the box so I have some on the way. -iz
  6. My build thread brought over from the old boards. My Favorite line in the old thread was: Isn't that the only way to get red?-------------------------------------------------------------- I haven't had time to do much lately. I did get a chance to slap a new coat of paint on the Nova earlier today, so I'll post pics up of that later. 138 wanted me to keep everyone posted on my Magma now that I've finally paid it off and have it, I guess I'd better start posting. Here are all the LFL references I can find on the board. What I can't discern from these I'll have to reference the current Magmas that have been accepted in the Legion. Now this armor actually looks pretty rough. I guess being kept in a box and moved around can cause some wear. Luckily it looks like all it'll need is a little bit of novus and it should polish up nicely. The helmet. (Duh!) This was pretty much put together already. I did have to drill out and file the teeth. It's just waiting to get the chin, lenses and mouth mesh. Armor came with this. It like it cause it's red! But... It's only normal velcro, so that's going away quick and being replaced by black industrial hopefully that will work without showing up to hard. The actual armor. Guess this was partially assembled because that silly red velcro was super-glued all over it. So that was the first thing to go. Now I just have to take some goo gone to it to get the remainder of the adhesive off then it's industrial velcro on some parts and E-6000 on the others. I'm very happy it had the plastic belt pieces because the thighs on this seem a bit small. They may have been trimmed, or all those squats are paying off! I'll make a leather belt and dye it red to replace the plastic. Boots! They're red already so I'm going to keep these and it'll save me some trouble. They're long enough, but not quite wide enough, so I'm hoping they will stretch. So here's the start of another TX. -iz
  7. This pic turned out nice: -iz
  8. Brought over from the old boards... Unfortunately I didn't have the patience to bring over all the banter about splattum selling my kidney ------------------------------------------------------------- Okay, so the armor has changed hands, and has been trimmed, adjusted, heated and shaped to fit the new owner. Lighting isn't the best but it works for now. Meet: MAGMA-SPLAT! It's been submitted and current sitting in the line awaiting review by our LMO. -iz
  9. So I finished this up. Thought some people might want to see the end result. I tore the old Capt midnight lenses out of my FX bucket and used them here. Still the best lenses I've ever worn. It's another nice CAP-W, in my opinion. -iz
  10. Brought these over from the other boards as well. Please bring your armor project threads over to help others learn and gather ideas. ----------------------------------------------------- Okay, I've had this painted for awhile but I didn't actually start working on the details until yesterday. It's my 3rd CAP-W helmet. I really like the fit of these things. I wanted to do a "classic" Blackhole Trooper. Everything black except some blue highlights (which were used for shading the black). I have some midnight navy underarmour on it's way so I'm going to snap some pics on the 11th to use in our garrison trading card run. I wonder if we can find some flat navy tube stripes. The gloss navy reflects the light and makes the lens capture it as lighter than it is. -iz
  11. The basic Novatrooper has been given the LMO stamp of approval on the condition that I change the shoulder bells to look more like the striping pattern in the game, which doesn't have as sharp of a curve in it. So he comes another set of Bells to paint! :-/ Also Thomas has clarified that blasters are not required for costume approval. It's considered a prop or accessory and is optional. This is due to laws in some areas and "no weapon" clauses that are put in place at conventions. The CRLs will be updated to reflect that eventually. Our Fearless Leader has some other surprises in store for the Detachment first. Then I'll get around to re-drafting the CRLs again. -iz
  12. Okay, I sent this in to my GML so it'll get passed on to the LMO. Then we can have some sort of official example of the standard Novatrooper in our database. -iz
  13. Little helmet update: Looks like I got a coat of future shine on there right! Just need to add the mesh, lenses and suspension and this will be ready to go. -iz
  14. Was experimenting with future shine and HIPS to see if I could avoid painting things, and here are the results: (Without Future Shine / With Future Shine) I dunno may work with a bit of practice, and let us skip the whole painting part of HIPS armor. I also figured it was about time I completed this, and the weather was cooperating today, so I used it. I figured I might as well make the basic bucket and see if I can't get it approved to pave the way for others. Honestly, it seems to look better in person than it did from the screen caps. Gotta wait for it to dry a day or two then clean it up and attach the innards. -iz
  15. Okay! Fun stuff arrived yesterday! 2 pairs of TIE pilot gloves. One for me, one for my friend at CV. 1 pair of Shadow Scout Gloves and a funny little amp for my Nova helmet. So I'm actually going to do a review this time around. I picked this little Amp set up off eBay for way more than anyone should ever spend on an Amp. It caught my attention because almost everyone new that I talk to says how they want to have the whole mic in the helmet thing. First thing to note is how awesome the speakers are. They seem to be a hard rubber mold of accurate Hovi mic tips. They look really sharp when installed. The amp itself is a nice, slim amp that is connected to a separate 9-volt battery pack by a long thick wire. That wire kind of gets in the way when put in an accurate bucket. Same can be said for the wire leads from the speakers. They're long! Then you stack that with the wire from the mic, which works nicely as far as I can tell. These wires can be a blessing and a curse and a mess, as I try to shove it all in the bucket. The amp is thin, but so is a gutted Radio Shack amp with electrical tape wrapped around it. It has a nice green LED on the side to show that it's on... but it's going to be behind your head anyway, so It's really more to check for power before you put on your bucket. There is an off/on switch on both the amp and the battery pack. I would suggest leaving the amp switch to on, then using the battery pack's switch to toggle on/off for the unit. Honestly all the wires make this better suited to an FX kit, and what you get probably isn't worth the final cost. I would say however that getting accurate mini speakers in the hovi casing is worth the price you would be for them alone (And they are sold separately). So I'm thinking I'll be grabbbing a second pair of those later on for my Shadow Stormtrooper helmets. Then I can just swap out the amp and mic to attach it to the set of speakers in each bucket. -iz
  16. I decided my Nova deserved a non-messed up pauldron for the Pics on the 11th. I had bought a nice gray pauldron for my Blackhole, but now that the Black ones are approved, I decided to grab one of those. The gray one was bought to match the color sceme on my old FX helmet anyway. -iz
  17. Fixed up my helmet last week, and just got it finished last night. I wanted to move the gold bar closer to the top of the tube so it would match closer to the reference pics. Another thanks to Scootch for hooking me up with some decals so I didn't have to hand paint the tube stripes again. (apparently my hand isn't that steady.) -iz Here's the new paint job.
  18. Here we go! I just need to know how I submit this for approval. -iz Star Wars Galaxies (TCG Game) Star Wars RPG: Rebellion Era Campaign Guide (WotC) Star Wars Galaxies (PC game)
  19. Just a little teaser. This was a test shot to make sure you couldn't see through the lenses. And I have my ANGRY! brow on... Have to fix that so it stays more serious. -iz
  20. Okay, so here's my enconomy pack. The MEPD says that the 501st allows for a loose interpretation on TD Backpacks, and I've seen worse that this, so I hope this does alright. Most of this stuff I already had around my home anyway. I so wanted to put a flask where the boxy-pipey thing is (technical term), But in the interest of getting this approved, I skipped it. :'( Tomorrow the helmet! -iz
  21. I hear ya! I hear ya! No pleasing some people... Okay so I have everything waxed and am just glueing the snaps to get it to work with my current rigging system for my Stealthy. Got the knee plate mounted and interchangeable with my stealthy knee plate too! And I believe the wrap-around for the upper stripe does a pretty good job at looking like it's not a separate piece from the armor. So I'm on to my helmet and a radio mock up. -iz
  22. A pic of the nearly finished prototype backpack. I used a small tackle box for the "tool kit" figured I could stick an emergency armor repair kit inside. with glue, Velcro, tape, etc. I still need to add straps, the radio and do the touch up painting and we'll see how that works. -iz
  23. And glueing the mock-shin band to the knee plate. That'll be my last up date until probably tomorrow night. I need to buy snaps, PVC and find a way to make the helmet all comfy on my head. Til I post again... -iz
  24. Finished all the detailing I'm going to do for now. I may go back after some practice and try and fix the tube stripes. First time I've hand painted them and my strokes weren't as steady as I thought they'd be. -iz
