  1. Your final approval "Look at me I'm a bad ass" Shadow Stormtrooper photo.
  2. I got tired of over priced, not the right color, or too much to modify to be screen accurate Specialist chest ammo pouches! So .... I'm making my own. If it turns out ok I'll post up my patterns and supplies.
  3. Congrats Chris! Your patience and efforts were worth it. Now the fun starts - post trooping "tweaks" to get it comfortable for those 2-4 hour troops. Give a shout if you need any advice on techniques.
  4. This is where the CRL gets wonky about the Back to Kidney area: Back plate contains a "O II" design with little or no overlap of the kidney plate. [interpretation - there can be a gap between the Back and kidney, ( just little or no overlap)] However, The top of the kidney armor is flush to or under the back armor. (interpretation - there can be NO Gap) There is a minimal gap between the posterior and kidney armor. This is fine for people like me who don't have a long torso. Really the only way to literally meet the CRL for longer torso folks is to add extension pieces to either the kidney or butt piece or both. You could also add hidden extension pieces to the top of the cod and bottom of the abs. Then put Velcro at each joining seam and on the top and bottom of the belt to help hold belt in place and hide the cod and abs extension pieces. This will only work if the GML or CRL allows for a gap between the Back and Kidney. Hope that all made sense. Maybe the Detachment CRL Team can chime in on the "intent" of CRL statements.
  5. Sara, as Mark mentioned you could email Imperial Boots and see if they can make your size http://www.imperialboots.com/product/killer-boots/ Also your question here was also answered in your other post http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/4939-shorttrooper05s-ro-deathtrooper-wip/ Zappos has a Talib women's 5 and 7. You could wear thick socks and sole inserts and the 7 might work.
  6. I agree ... greeblies! Besides they just look cool! I was half-way joking and more over making a point that there are a lot of things on a lot of other suits that we have no clue what they are and/or do. I can see some kid coming up to one of us at a trooping and asking what they are. I did tell a my neighbor's kid who is into Spiderman, that they were Galactic Web-shooters ... LOL the look he gave me was priceless.
  7. Anybody seen any "creditable" info on the three cylinders on our armor left forearms? Some folks over on the DT Buidrs FB page are saying rockets or blaster, most are saying "code cylinders" LOL Lets form a research committee and then have a staff hearing/poll to determine what to put as the "official" function of these things other than catching on my E-11D sling.
  8. Update: I went with a 2x2 Velcro loop patch sewn to the top of the boot spats and a 1.5x4 strip of Velcro hook on the inside from of the shins. Spent 4 hours in armor this past weekend and fitness app said 3.27 miles walked. Shins stayed aligned the whole day! Now on to another armor tweak. Thanks to everyone for your suggestion.
  9. Ahhh prep work! That one step that when done correctly and patiently, yields the best result. Looking good Roger!
  10. Excellent work Lance. I'm glad you tried my suggestion. Can't wait to see how the rest of your build turns out.
  11. Well we strive for screen accuracy ... maybe I shouldn't be worried so much about shifting shins
  12. You could start using plastic waste cans cut up LOL Do suppliers not ship to NZ?
  13. Vendor suggestions: Helmet Fans - Trooper Tronix - https://www.facebook.com/TrooperTronix Belt and components (minus leather goods) - Jim Tripon (Check out his build thread) http://forum.501stsp...-and-armor-wip/ Spead holster / leather pouch - I know Mark (nanotech) was working on a screen accurate set, he has a build on here as well. http://forum.501stsp...-trooper-build/ Good luck with your build, looking forward to hear about your progress
  14. Hey Steve, any more news on how the division will work? Battlefront 2 opens up a whole new realm of variants that Spec Ops should be involved in.
  15. Great news about the BBB shipping! So you used a bolt to attached to two males back to back on the leather ... even better. Thanks for the clarification. I just E6K'd mine and so far they are holding up. Think I'll go back and put a small bolt and nut on mine as well. Mahalo!
  16. Loving the concept and execution. Any more modifications/updates to this? I agree that adding original TK details but scaled down to keep with the feminine theme would look awesome. Glad you went for classy not trashy with this FemTrooper.
  17. Steve, came across this thread today. Haven't had a chance to really give it some thought but for shoulder bells and biceps maybe using a hinged point? Interested to see how this progresses.
  18. Going to do two troopings this weekend. I am going to try two of the above suggestions. I attached Velcro to the top of my spats and a piece in the front of the shin. I also made two foot stirrups to attached to the Velcro in the shins. I'll update which worked best for me so this thread can have some closure.
  19. Did you get this issue fixed? I use the same stirrup system on my Shadow and now with my DT shins as well. Ingenious idea.
  20. How goes your progress Michael? Did you ever decide on an armor source?
  21. Thanks for the update ... sometimes no news is good news. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
