  1. And a bit more... Bund and Pouches now done. Pouches are made from a slightly coarser material and is a touch lighter in shade, to provide some detail contrast across the costume. They're both 'bottle green' on the label.
  2. I'd personally sew it on. Yes it's a ball ache, but less likely to come off unexpectedly. I just sew the elastic on under the edge of the suede. I don't go all the way around the leg.
  3. Well I don't actually get much chance to work on costumes for myself any more... and this is no exception. But I thought I'd share this for your delectation. This one is going to Oz when it's done. Apologies for the pictures, for some reason the colour is well washed out on my phone camera. I think it's the fluorescent lighting in my workshop. Suffice to say the colour is much more 'green'. Chest plate for the armour (all other bits are done). The armour is going out as a kit for Scott to assemble himself Helmet. This is being built up for him. Stage 1 assembly. Making sure everything lines up. The face plate has dropped a few mm as it's not held on by anything yet.
  4. Well done Mel and well done Andrew. It's been a privilege to assist on this and I know Craig will have a grin from ear to ear to see this get cleared. FIRST IN THE LEGION!!! You saw it here kids. RIP Craig... this one's for you.
  5. No red square or flashing LED's....
  6. Get the pictures up chap!
  7. Why is it not finished yet? hehehehe, just kidding. If you've got any questions shout up, but looks like you're off to a good start.
  8. As Jim says, you really need a proper ABS weld glue for the plastic parts to make sure it sticks together. But use it carefully. Lest any distortion or potential disaster.
  9. Keep it under your hat... We don't want everyone doing it!
  10. You and me both buddy. I've done the Scout, Storm Commando, and Snow Scout up to now. Forest trooper is next on my list, followed by Sea Trooper. Swampy will come last. And the Kashyyyk!!! Wash your mouth out with soap young man. That's no Scout, that's a CLONE! Don't forget the black edging around your snout.
  11. Looks like someone got a Rubies bucket and drew from that!
  12. Details on the lid 'should' be as per the standard scout. Snout, grey, details on the lid, grey/black (on the ones where both is present), and the black pin-striping on the back. (basically use the standard scout decals). Knees, also grey.
  13. Within the 501st, they are a different classification. Within Star-Wars they are the same thing. I shall demonstrate below. A well known Storm Commando. (General Weir) A Storm Commando. Some more Storm Commandos The above three go under the guise of "shadow scouts" within the 501st (incorrectly in my opinion). Now, we have below what they take to be 'storm commandos'. Same thing, just different artists impressions of. None which are consistent, and I don't think anyone has attempted one of these references yet.
  14. Interesting... I'd say the Chest plate is indeed a Scout one. The details are pretty much identical, despite it looking flat, and the extra indent on the other side (more of a red square, than an indent) Shoulders look to be the same shape as Scout ones too, but with the modification of the bumps on the lower bit. The rest I concur with. Faceplate could be done with a modded Storm Trooper faceplate, and the boots could be constructed in a similar fashion to the scout ones, based on a Chelsea boot or a black work boot. So Who's going to make it??
  15. To be honest Mike I don't think the Legion has ANY 'Storm Commandos' as per their 501st naming. It's a bit of a misnomer and one of my personal bugbears. The 'Shadow Scout' IS a Storm Commando. You only need look at General Weir and Crix Madine to know that. The term 'Shadow Scout' is a rebel slang term for them, but the correct Imperial designation is Storm Commando. When the 501st talk about 'Storm Commandos' they are referring to the differential artwork that shows them with more armour and slightly different helmets than the source material for Weir etc. No-one as yet (as far as I am aware) has gone for one of these other variants. The name is just because they needed some differentiation.
  16. What Jim said. The SC style lid can be assembled without the need for Bondo. You can minimise the gap around the join at the main dome with some careful trimming. If you do decide to Bondo and paint it, then it's best to get it assembled first. Get everything square and spot on before moving on to the filling and painting part. Run a skim of filler (what you call Bondo over there) around the join at the dome, making sure that you force some down into the gap. Flat this back with something like 120 grit paper. Repeat this process until the join is nice and smooth. Then you'll need to key the entire lid, so the paint sticks properly. Something like 240 grit is fine for this on plastic. Key the whole lid and take the shine off the plastic. Then you are ready to prime and paint. If your armour is unpainted, then I suggest you leave your lid unpainted too and let them weather in together naturally as Jim has done. It'll be difficult (nigh on impossible) to get a painted colour match. If your armour is painted, then it's probably best to paint your lid too to match it up using the same paint you used on your armour.
  17. What... ONLY ONE! You'll need one for the other hand too. Tidy looking gloves.
  18. They aren't required for the Storm Commando, and are a bit uncomfortable. But if you do put it in, then they are attached by and elastic strap that then goes up inside the main bucket.
  19. Yeah, do it... Much cheaper and it's not all that complicated if you can pilot a sewing machine. Measure round the largest bit of your torso, +3" that'll give you your length. Measure from your armpit to your belt line. That'll give you your drop. Belt line to crotch for the cod section, and it's about 8-10" across the top depending on your size.
  20. Check out Jeff's site here... http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/bikerscout/thecumberbund.html It's about the standard scout, but they are the same, just in black. Be advised, some of the dimensions noted on his site are a bit out of date and most things will probably need scaling to your individual frame. Ask before diving in head first.
  21. Hi Clay. Plenty of people leave them in their unpainted state, but the satin paint job does make them look so much better. That's the only reason. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want, that's what we're here for.
  22. Glad to have been of assistance to you on this. You might want to paint your snout aerator black, and paint in the chest indent. Good luck with the submission.
