  1. Chef, Thanks for your feedback. I think the CRL is a little vague, and I dislike feeling like I'm ready for approval only to find out that an overhaul is required. That's why I asked ahead of time. All of the things you suggest are easily done. I am in no way offended and do appreciate your input. Thanks.
  2. Hey everyone, I have this awesome MonCal shadow scout bucket, and before I get too far into this build, I want to ask about the coloring. The CRL states that the helmet detailing can be dark gray or black. What I want to know is if the details on this helmet are acceptable. I really like the contrast, so I hope so. Otherwise, let me know. Thanks.
  3. Ultimately, the approval is up to your Garrison Membership Liaison. If he thinks it is green, then it's green, right? Do you have a troop in upcoming in which you could show it in person? Maybe that would make the difference to the GML. My GML prefers to see costumes in person as photos can deceive. Otherwise, you could try dyeing the whole thing black to see if that darkens the pigment.
  4. Great responses guys. I've altered my order to cotton. Thanks for the input.
  5. For the pouches, is leather or faux leather acceptable? It seems like it would look nice, and certainly be more functional, but will it pass muster? http://i126.photobuc...0712_131133.jpg
  6. I'm glossy. It goes well with the rest of the armor.
  7. I'm now approved to guard Sith burial grounds and attend Steelers' games. Toddo
  8. Yeah, I get out of control.
  9. Still waiting on approval for my Novatrooper, but that hasn't stopped me from working on a Nova Elite conversion. Yesterday I got an assembled black bucket from Scootch and immediately got to work painting. I have yet to install the mic tip screens (anyone have any great methods for doing so? I always screw it up). Also, I need to get some more lens material. After that I just need to outfit my padding and fans. Here's the bucket so far: I also have painted the pauldron:
  10. I believe that chest is actually a CAP or CAP-W
  11. It is a bit of a frankenstein. The core bits are FX. The rest is Cap-W HIPS painted. I had the best luck with Rustoleum automotive enamel and a bunch of clear-coat on top of that. For the gold stuff it is Rustoleum gold metallic, again with clear-coat. For masking I simply used blue painter's tape. The green Frog tape hasn't left the lines clean for me.
  12. Thanks Blackhole. I really struggled with getting that right. I'm happy with it now.
  13. Thanks to some parts from Izzi and Scootch, I've been working on modifying my Shadow Stormtrooper into a Nova. I believe I have completed the build and am awaiting Legion approval. Here are some pics:
  14. nice looking bucket. How long did it take to arrive?
  15. how much was the shipping for the Barnstormers to USA? I emailed them to ask, but have received no response.
  16. That's pretty cool. Nice job. I hope you take Izzi's advice toward approval. T
  17. looking good. can't wait to see more work done. T
  18. I have two squirrel cage fans in my bucket aimed up at the lenses. This prevents fogging. I power both with individual batteries. My com system is Jim's Aker/iComm combination. I tried mounting the Aker in the chest, but I had feedback problems with the bucket on. I've moved the amp to inside the back plate, and now it's as loud as I want it to be. The only disadvantage is that i can't control the volume once I'm suited-up. For heat control I use an UnderArmour coolmax balaclava, and that works like a charm. THe fans mostly just help me with lens fog. -T
  19. Nice work. Now have it airbrushed on the side of your van!
  20. beau travail. J'aimerais voir comment cela a été fait s'il vous plaît. -T
  21. I couldn't find a phone number on their site, and they didn't supply one via email. -T
  22. Based on a couple of recommendations, I ordered a Cushman a month ago. Since then I have had difficulty getting email response from them aside from one email explaining that it would be a minimum of 8 weeks to receive my order. I had read numerous horror stories about Cushman taking 6 months to deliver product, and in some cases never delivering. Knowing that Paypal's dispute period is something like 6 weeks, I find this unacceptable. So currently I am trying to get my money back. After that, I'll be looking at some other options. -T
