  1. I've done it with E6000 and old t-shirt, and so far so good.
  2. Why don't you just paint or Sharpie the pads on the glove? Make it a non-issue.
  3. I cited it as being from FISD Dizz. It's been around a while, but it hasn't made its way onto these boards as far as I can tell. It was helpful for me when I started building my first TK, and I wish I would have worked from this reference with my TX prior to that.
  4. I love your method for reinforcing the aerator wells. My CAP-W buckets all are weakest at that point.
  5. I'd love to see that display. I hope it comes to the states after it's done with you fellows up North. As for the TD clips, that's the size I use for my TK and my TS, and it actually feels really solid, more so than the smaller clips I use on my TX varieties. I set my TKs up to mimic this entire setup, and it works really well.
  6. This is a fantastic gallery of ANH screen-used TK armor courtesy of FISD: http://www.whitearmo...eferenceGallery It's a great way to see how ANH-style armor was put together. This was invaluable to me when assembling my TK, and would be a great guide for anyone wanting to create accurate TX.
  7. you know how snaps fasten and unfasten? Well, rivets definitely don't unfasten. They are permanent. I buy snap packs like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/250583909380?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 I also use the heck out of the snap pliers at Joann. I recommend the heavy-duty rivet tool at Lowes along with small alluminum rivets. It takes some getting used to using the rivet gun. You will need snaps for your strapping along with extra plastic for snap plates. I use For Sale signs and cut up squares for the snaps plates from those. You likely want to use snaps to secure your belt to the abdomen plate. You will rivet the thigh ammo belt to the thigh and will probably use rivets on your helmet as well.
  8. I'm glowing in anticipation! Get it?
  9. Read, read, and read both here and at FISD. If I knew what I know now when building armor, all of my TKs would have been built to Specialist/Centurion standards. I've spent a lot of time and money undoing/redoing things simply because I didn't read enough. Waiting for armor is the perfect time to become an expert researcher.
  10. congratulations on your armor purchase Marcus. Be sure to take a look around the section on blackhole stormtroopers. There's a lot of good information and build threads there. A lot of fellows recommend you start with the biceps. Lucky for you, Peter just posted a great bicep tutorial complete with a supplies list. Check it out. Also, you'll need to order a bunch of snaps, elastic, E6000 glue, clamps, rare earth magnets, etc. That should get you started.
  11. I wish I could wear my specs while trooping. I have seen guys glue lenses to their helmet lens. For me the distance isn't right, and it screws up my prescription. I just have to go without. I have a garrison-mate who wears Rec-Specs under his clone bucket.
  12. Here what I recommend: move your connection point on the back armor closer to the shoulder. That will pull the plastic strap down more. It also will lower the chest. Are you as trapping the chest to the ab plate? I recommend three elastic straps connect the chest to the abdomen. That will likely keep the overlap you need. If all else fails, gently warm up that back plate shoulder appendage so that it conforms to the shoulder more. As for return edge, unless you are doing a ROTJ TK variant, it isn't required anywhere.
  13. Congratulations on your approval status! Everyone tells you that people will call you Darth Vader, but that's only happened to me once. I loved trooping roller derby with the Rat City Rollergirls
  14. yeah, but he directed Rocketeer, so we'll let it slide.
  15. Daetrin on FISD has a nice thread on this guy: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/10164-return-of-the-space-pack/
  16. I do have 501st access on the BF forums.
  17. Well there are the two space pack stormtroopers outside the Death Star when the Falcon is pulled in. Maybe you could do a non-canon version of that?
  18. Man that looks cool. I hope you don't get distracted by throwing discs at the MCP. I must see this finished!
  19. This is an interesting development. I wonder if there are other sources we could find for this costume. Great discovery Ty!
  20. Nice work so far and great photos. the assembly is top-notch. Of course what really matters is how well is fits you. I can't wait to see this on you. I have a feeling it is going to be stellar.
  21. Make sure you drag one foot with every step, and this will rock.
  22. you are looking for curved Lexan scissors:
  23. Nope. I just looked again. Likewise, during the election I searched for "election" and got no results.
