Hey folks! I just found something neat while doing research for my R1 TIE costume. Turns out, the Death Trooper appears to use the same style of Webbing as on the TIE! This popped into my eyes while looking through this blog post: https://www.originalprop.com/blog/2019/07/18/san-diego-comic-con-2019-imperial-stormtrooper-costume-exhibit/ Webbing on the TIE: And on the Death Trooper! Note the direction of weave, the five vertical lines and overall texture on the webbing. After doing tons of digging I believe to have found the source for this webbing. However, it appears to be available for bulk buy from China only. It is available in 1.5, 1.25 and 1 inch widths. I believe the 1 inch version also gets use on the TIE and Imperial Ground Crew. If the Webbing on the Death Trooper Chest rig is 1.5 or 1.25 I can't say for sure. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/stock-1-3mm-thickness-2-5cm_1600288222288.html I don't know about you lot, but I don't think I'll need 45 yards of this - maybe you can however? Hope this info helps you to get that extra mile of accuracy!

I think it was just punching "British belt hook" into ebay and buying the first set that was painted black -

On the topic of Belt Hooks: My girlfriend found these lovely hooks for her Dedra Meero. They're replicas of British wartime belt hooks and imo have a nice shape + length to match the uniforms on the show. I feel like these are a bit nicer shape over the German ones. -
I've only worn in the apartment for a short time, but it is not very breathable I'd say. Maybe I'm just not used to Denim jackets, but it's a bit stiff for now. I hope it loosens up over time. Feels like a walk in the park next to my R1 TIE though It's more comfortable than padded nylon for sure.

I'm not sure if just a few washes will do the trick, as I want to get this out the door by Celebration. However, I'll look right into RIT color remover, thanks for the tip! Jim's uniform is a denim fabric, so hopefully I shouldn't have too many issues with finding good tutorials online

Hey folks! Quick look at my current build: Hat + Uniform: Jim Tripon Belt: Philoprops Belt Boxes: Philoprops Boots: Crowprops Gloves: RavelGloves Headset: Racal Aviation Headset Current plans/left to do: - Lighten the color of the uniform and/or dye it greener. Contemplating if I may have to subtly bleach the uniform for this. - Take in the sleeves on the jacket. Right now it's a bit too long and a bit too wide for what I'd like - Iron it all nice and flat of course - Add metal greeblies to the headset - Paint Belt boxes/replace boxes with updated size If I upgrade to armor version down the line, I would generally like Imperial Surplus, but frankly I'm too big to fit em. Maybe a 3D printed set would be more appropriate to size for me. Blaster currently used is a placeholder.

Unfortunately not, even the included documentation didn't have a serial. The serial number on the ears was shaved out with electro pencil. -

Clearly there seems to be confusion regarding the soft parts only version. I too was previously under the impression - based on the discussion people had in the thread here - that it was going to be a separate CRL. -

Bingo. This is the right piece. It needs a couple of greeblies, but nothing too bad. Now the question is: Are these greeblies found parts too? Looks like Aluminum for sure. Note how one of the above screenshots has white paint chips in the headset! -

Considering how bashed together most of the costumes look on the show, I don't think it should matter too much at the end of the day. I personally prefer the somewhat browner uniforms. -

Honestly, looking at behind the scenes photos (gotta consider just how heavy the color grade on the show is!), I think that's a pretty good color . -

Ordered one of those Racal Headsets for Kimzi to see what I can cook up with it. I'll keep you posted. -

I agree, that headset with some additional greeblies on top is probably the best we can get. *BUT* If the plan is still to make the soft parts only costume a separate CRL (I think that's what I had read earlier on the thread), rather than a variant on the same CRL, I think it should only be included with that, as it's clearly not seen on any of the armored characters. In addition to Kimzi, it looks like the same style of headset is used on the two gray-flightsuit technicians within the base. -

So, I went and took the screenshots from 4K source. Here's what I find: Two troopers in close up have the texture visible *for sure*. Others in less close up don't seem to have it. Other shots are too dark to effectively tel. Here is an album with multiple frames from the same shots. The slight movement in the shot (actors turning head) should show how the light reflects said texture. https://imgur.com/a/jU5qYkV The screenshots are almost a thousand pixels tall, so please right click and open in new tab so you can see the images all the way. Now, I doubt I'd say every helmet has it and I think the wording of "may have" is perfect, as it gives costumers the option to choose! cc: @TeaJay @BigJasoni -

Forgive me if I misunderstood something, but I was under the impression that Aldhani was shot *after* Ferrix. The Ferrix troopers having the shins, which had been too busted by the time Aldhani came around. https://www.fanthatracks.com/interviews/tony-gilroy-on-star-wars-andor-being-shot-out-of-sequence-we-shot-out-everything-in-ferrix-first/ I'll dig through the 4k of the episodes later on too, just so I can double check what's seen on screen. Do some pixel peeking I think relying on set experience is great, but it shouldn't be our only thing to look at, right? Ultimately, I think it's fair to say that this "orange peel" texture should not be mandatory either way. -

I can see that be a very plausible answer! There is just one question that springs to my mind: I was under the impression that most "new era" productions use Urethane Castings for armor and gear? Can something like that even happen with a pressure casting? Either way, I agree, this does not seem to align with the other helmets we've seen and for now we should probably ignore it. If a new style of trooper with this armor shows up, we'll be able to go from there -

I personally doubt the texture was there on the Aldhani troopers too, but I figured it'd be best to ask Maybe it just flew under the radar. -

This picture was posted by Season 2 director Janus Metz, so consider this a minor spoiler. However, there is something I found interesting: It looks like the Army helmet has a rougher texture. Is this something new for this Season 2 photo? Or is this something that we might not have considered before that's always been there? @fb501 Do you maybe have any insight on this? -

Yep! The question is just in which order scenes were filmed. IIRC everything on Ferrix was filmed first, as far as outdoors stuff goes. Where the ISB scenes fit in the production timeline, I do not know. Where the boxes silver, gray, and then silver again? First dark and then silver? I think unless somebody gets a shooting schedule, just a point to speculate over -

You know, that's a really good question! Here's my take on it: Gorn has the pill, Partagaz has the pill. While they are *not* the Aldhani Trooper costumes, I think it's fair to presume they use the same belt boxes, since there is so much parts reuse on the Aldhani costumes as it is. Partagaz's belt boxes have darker chipping on their edges, which could be a good indicator of them being painted. This is a photo of Taramyn's belt box: It's not super easy to see due to the low lighting conditions, but I think it's fair too say you can make out a dark spot there that could well be pill shaped I've not been able to find anything clearer than that, sorry! -
