  1. Looking at the soft parts, this seems to be identical to the Aldhani Trooper, the fabric even has this brighter staining around the corners on pockets. I think it's fair to say that it's the same thing all around in the soft parts, except the color. 4 Belt Boxes on some of the troopers are a nice touch. My initial thought on the batons is, that it might be the same as the Rogue One TK/Jyn Erso Baton? Looks like the big black rubber tip is absent or painted silver? Maybe somebody has a good screenshot on this? I've been struggling to find clear ones! Looks like there's some kind of D-Rings tucked between the chest armor and the shoulder strap mounts.
  2. I'd be right happy to! I just have to unload the car from the event (I know) as I've been sick. I hope to take care of that over the weekend
  3. Took Aldhani out for a test drive over the weekend and I'm pretty happy with how the color looks so far! Belt Hooks are a godsend, they make wearing an officer belt a lot easier for sure. I'll need to bend that one belt box back into shape once I'm back, but that's a super easy fix
  4. Belt hooks are getting done now - photos to be taken on Friday
  5. Thanks! I wasn't sure at first but I'm starting to really love the look Can't wait to test run at Celebration
  6. There's a D-Ring underneath the stock and there's a D-Ring near the muzzle, the sling is hooked into those
  7. On the topic of helmet surface: I forgot Gorn uses a helmet! It's pretty subtle, and the shot is obscured by movement, but I think you can make out the texture pretty well by looking at this shot. I think this should reinforce what we assumed a few pages before: At least some helmets have the texture for sure. A nice little optional detail
  8. Two packs of Rit Dye remover and I like the look a lot more now in photos. It's still a little browner than green, but I think it's within acceptable range for Celebration - I can always go and change it up further after the event. I didn't realize it has lost this much color, until I saw them side by side (same phone, same room, same light) You may ignore dressing issues, this is just for light reference right now.
  9. Hey folks! I just found something neat while doing research for my R1 TIE costume. Turns out, the Death Trooper appears to use the same style of Webbing as on the TIE! This popped into my eyes while looking through this blog post: https://www.originalprop.com/blog/2019/07/18/san-diego-comic-con-2019-imperial-stormtrooper-costume-exhibit/ Webbing on the TIE: And on the Death Trooper! Note the direction of weave, the five vertical lines and overall texture on the webbing. After doing tons of digging I believe to have found the source for this webbing. However, it appears to be available for bulk buy from China only. It is available in 1.5, 1.25 and 1 inch widths. I believe the 1 inch version also gets use on the TIE and Imperial Ground Crew. If the Webbing on the Death Trooper Chest rig is 1.5 or 1.25 I can't say for sure. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/stock-1-3mm-thickness-2-5cm_1600288222288.html I don't know about you lot, but I don't think I'll need 45 yards of this - maybe you can however? Hope this info helps you to get that extra mile of accuracy!
  10. I think it was just punching "British belt hook" into ebay and buying the first set that was painted black
  11. On the topic of Belt Hooks: My girlfriend found these lovely hooks for her Dedra Meero. They're replicas of British wartime belt hooks and imo have a nice shape + length to match the uniforms on the show. I feel like these are a bit nicer shape over the German ones.
  12. I've only worn in the apartment for a short time, but it is not very breathable I'd say. Maybe I'm just not used to Denim jackets, but it's a bit stiff for now. I hope it loosens up over time. Feels like a walk in the park next to my R1 TIE though It's more comfortable than padded nylon for sure.
  13. I'm not sure if just a few washes will do the trick, as I want to get this out the door by Celebration. However, I'll look right into RIT color remover, thanks for the tip! Jim's uniform is a denim fabric, so hopefully I shouldn't have too many issues with finding good tutorials online
  14. Hey folks! Quick look at my current build: Hat + Uniform: Jim Tripon Belt: Philoprops Belt Boxes: Philoprops Boots: Crowprops Gloves: RavelGloves Headset: Racal Aviation Headset Current plans/left to do: - Lighten the color of the uniform and/or dye it greener. Contemplating if I may have to subtly bleach the uniform for this. - Take in the sleeves on the jacket. Right now it's a bit too long and a bit too wide for what I'd like - Iron it all nice and flat of course - Add metal greeblies to the headset - Paint Belt boxes/replace boxes with updated size If I upgrade to armor version down the line, I would generally like Imperial Surplus, but frankly I'm too big to fit em. Maybe a 3D printed set would be more appropriate to size for me. Blaster currently used is a placeholder.
  15. Unfortunately not, even the included documentation didn't have a serial. The serial number on the ears was shaved out with electro pencil.
  16. I think that's much preferable, glad to have clarification on this Thanks!
  17. Clearly there seems to be confusion regarding the soft parts only version. I too was previously under the impression - based on the discussion people had in the thread here - that it was going to be a separate CRL.
  18. Bingo. This is the right piece. It needs a couple of greeblies, but nothing too bad. Now the question is: Are these greeblies found parts too? Looks like Aluminum for sure. Note how one of the above screenshots has white paint chips in the headset!
  19. Considering how bashed together most of the costumes look on the show, I don't think it should matter too much at the end of the day. I personally prefer the somewhat browner uniforms.
  20. Honestly, looking at behind the scenes photos (gotta consider just how heavy the color grade on the show is!), I think that's a pretty good color .
  21. Awesome! Thank you for the great update. I hope to run into you (with my hopefully done by then Aldhani Trooper) at Celebration
  22. Ordered one of those Racal Headsets for Kimzi to see what I can cook up with it. I'll keep you posted.
  23. I agree, that headset with some additional greeblies on top is probably the best we can get. *BUT* If the plan is still to make the soft parts only costume a separate CRL (I think that's what I had read earlier on the thread), rather than a variant on the same CRL, I think it should only be included with that, as it's clearly not seen on any of the armored characters. In addition to Kimzi, it looks like the same style of headset is used on the two gray-flightsuit technicians within the base.
  24. So, I went and took the screenshots from 4K source. Here's what I find: Two troopers in close up have the texture visible *for sure*. Others in less close up don't seem to have it. Other shots are too dark to effectively tel. Here is an album with multiple frames from the same shots. The slight movement in the shot (actors turning head) should show how the light reflects said texture. https://imgur.com/a/jU5qYkV The screenshots are almost a thousand pixels tall, so please right click and open in new tab so you can see the images all the way. Now, I doubt I'd say every helmet has it and I think the wording of "may have" is perfect, as it gives costumers the option to choose! cc: @TeaJay @BigJasoni
