Thanks Izzi, I'll see what I can do.

Your kit is too awesome for my IPhone. It refuses to load the pictures lol.
-
With my gear on I would lol. But I am standing a few steps in front of it so I look bigger than the door.

So here is my first official Test Fit. I am not done yet, still have a short list of things to do, but here's where I am at: My neck seal shipped today, so it should be here Thursday. My BFG should arrive tomorrow. My back pack is about 25% complete. I am getting bitten by the armor at the inside of both elbows and on my inner right thigh. I also have to sew my belt. and paint a couple rivets black. Once those things are done, I should be ready to submit for approval.

Does this mean the Dark Trooper is officially scrapped?

Be safe brother.

Yeah... I learned that the hard way. I painted mine last week and thought it was dry. So I put it under the sheet I keep my armor covered with yesterday. I go to take it out today and its marked from the sheet. After a week!

Do you still play SWG? Has there been any expansions since Mustafar four years ago? I might have to come back. I have an Elder Jedi or what ever they were called pre nerf.

Decided to go Nova after all Cole? You have to get a pauldron and paint it yourself. Use the same paint you use for the striping so it all matches. Rustoleum metalic gold paint.

To Voice Amp Or Not To Voice Amp?
bscheff replied to Agustus Griffin's topic in Spec Ops Scout Armory
@Izzi You still using the hovi mic tips? Those are speakers that look like the aerators right? How do they work? -
I would prefer not to use the abs for the back half of the belt. Did any of you make a patent leather one? Or buy one? Where did you get it?

I ended up using hot glue on the chin, ear screw covers and button box; worked like a charm. On the boots, I am trying Velcro. I put a half inch tall by about three inches wide hook on the tongue of my boot and loop on the inside of the shin. I left the back free floating and so far it seems to be working. I was gonna do a snap, but the problem is the shin is too tight front to back and I am not sure how well a snap on the elastic part of the boot would hold up. I really just need to finish the backpack and maybe tweak a few things and I should be ready for submission.

I need some advice for my finishing touches: What is the best way to attach the chin thing-a-mabob to the helmet? Not the chin strap, but the grooved plastic piece between the aerators. What is the best way to attach the button box? Both these pieces have only a thin edge that touches the armor and not a large surface good for gluing. What's the best way to attach the shins to the boots? My shoes keep working their way out of the armor when I walk.

The Nova certainly seems to be the flavor of the month. It is a bit more expensive then the BH as you'll need paint and a full backpack for approval, but well worth it IMO.

Izzi, how did you keep the black outline on your pauldron, and the leather around the rivets, so crisp? How did you keep them from getting gold on them? I assumed tape, but it's hard to get the right angles. Did you pull out the rivets, remove the velcro/leather snaps and then reattach after painting? Also I am considering not keeping the outline and just having the gold part gold and the neck part black. While yours looks awesome, I haven't seen any references with the black outline. Do you think it would be a problem to not have the black border around the gold portion?
-
Your making great progress Nova-brother. If you have any questions just ask. Cheers,

I just noticed your teeth are silver, I am pretty sure they have to be black. The blackhole troopers have silver teeth, but we need black.
-
I also see that as a problem. The AM is really wide but not deep. The "tongue" of my boot doesn't want to go under but there is space by my ankles. Is that your issue?
-
Looks nice. Any way to avoid the re-paint? My only other observation is that your thighs look big around the knees. Might want to consider tightening that up a tad. Suit looks great though man.
-
Yeah, I didn't notice how sharp that one was until I looked at the picture. I'll see what I can do.
-
update: Bucket is 90% done. Need to attach a few of the goodies, otherwise it is all set. Got the sniper plate painted and attached Got the shoulder bells painted and rigged
-
Are you going to trim the sides of the chest and back plate to be more screen accurate or join them?
-
Have you already added the battle damage? If not just shine it up nicely and get approved, then add the damage as BH recommends. If your asking how to get approved, I don't know I haven't crossed that bridge yet. Izzi or Crazas or one of the other vets should be able to tell you.

I had to cut off the return edge on the top of the inner bicept piece so that it would fit into the outter piece. You can see it in my build thread if you have questions. I also cut my forearms at an angle.
