ATA/CAP Magma Trooper (Cancelled - see pg. 7)
DeathMOS30 replied to mikedwelle94's topic in Crimson Stormtrooper
I must say reading all this I find rather bizarre you are having these issues. I purchased my magma trooper kit from ata and have not encountered any of the issues you are describing. I got mine back in May June of this year. I've trooped twice with no issues. Have you considered speaking with them to see what the deal is? -
Good luck it looks great. I had to repurchase my helmet cause I screwed up the first one but you are doing great, keep it up.
-
Yay more magmas good luck with your build.

If you bring your attention to the top right and lower left you can see the two fans hiding in front of the ear padding. I want to possibly place two mini fans below the eye insets where the grill is. here is another picture but its darker Hopefully you can see what i am talking about here is the picture of the mini fans so yeah thats the plan

Hello thank you it was a great first troop cant wait to be official Well I must say inside it was fine but it was just really hot outside so while walking i couldnt feel much air but other then that they worked good. What I am thinking is getting a small fan to add to the larger ones. Once I get home i will take a picture of the inside of my bucket so you can see my set up. I really dont have much room as my head is rather large apparently lol. Yeah but without them for sure. I hope it cools down we are coming up on parade season here Thank you I am very stoked about how it came out and cant wait to do some other projects as well.

Had my first troop I am the red one. I just need to trim down my butt plate as noted by my fellow troopers then i can take pictures and get approved so excited.
-
Cool those are tiny. The technology we have makes things a lot smaller so it makes sense. I want to do the evo shadowtrooper that has a few pieces that light up as well. Probably be a lot less complex since this one has so many pieces that light up. I cant wait to see the finished product it looks really good the bits and pieces you have shown thus far. I hope we can get some kits available sometime in the future and get 501st approval. This is all very exciting I love to see all the different costumes and work that gets put into them.
-
Ah I see so there is no way to eliminate the battery all together. Its just the extra weight with the costume just trying to save on that. Makes sense though, since they make batteries much more efficient.
-
Question about the LED is there such a thing as rechargeable LED strips? so you just plug them into the wall they charge then you can have them all juiced up instead of worrying and repurchasing batteries? I am not so sure if the tech is out for that yet but I wonder if its possible to just make it, using the principles of other charge and use things. Just a thought, but it looks great and its a really neat costume would be epic for night time parades.

I need some advice about the chest piece. If I take off about a 1/2" to 3/4" of inc from the top swoop it would be enough to pull up so it wont cover the ab buttons. The option is to cut the chest about an inch of the bottom? which would be better to do?
-
I would definitely be interested in making one of these so cool
-
OK fantastic that's great news
-
congrats yay
-
Awesome I actually got mine today and it matches perfectly. I am wondering If I could qualify for the specialist program using the belt though? I also am having a bit of trouble finding the 7/16" buttons

looks good yay for being almost finished. -
Thanks I think it should be fine I will try that once I get my canvas belt. Awesome yay we have more magmas
-
Sorry I kind of made it a statement. I was just concerned about the canvas belt and dismantling the red abs I have to use the materials from. I think it should be OK but as a back up do you think ata would sell like extra red abs?
-
Quick question I am considering ordering a red canvas belt since I need the ABS material to fix my thighs and shins (they need to be widened) I was able to get feedback from my local squad folks so I have some things to fix and need more red abs material.
-
Awesome thank you please let me know how it works out
-
Any more info about the canvas belt? I'm thinking of using the abs I have for the belt to widen my shins since I have none left
-
I tried your idea and it worked like a charm. I will have to look into the clamshell so it wouldn't have a gap but for now it doesn't show so I can do the pictures and application. Thank you so much

so I thought about it yesterday I think a better option would be to shorten the body by cutting an inch off the body which seems to be a normal thing to do while I was doing research. I do have a rather important question regarding the back of the thighs and shins. I velcroed my shins and thighs together using this method, http://www.whitearmo.../Tutorials-legs The only problem is the velcro shows slightly on the back of the shin edge and thigh edge once I put them on only if you look from the side but not looking directly behind and I was wondering how much of an issue is that? Thigh on the left is my solution and the thigh on the right you can see the black velcro. Shins Also on the shins I used this method the only problem I am having is with the left shin as it does not want to close around the boot. http://forum.501stsp...hins-not-shift/ Left you see how it is bunching up the boot Right no issues So is it possible to just have the shins sitting on top of the boot instead of around or do you think that would not work. I just want to make sure when I do the pictures I can get approved.
-
Actually the chest plate is unattached so I may have to make it a bit smaller or move down the body part not so sure which I will fiddle with it and see about a solution. Thank you for letting me know I wasnt so sure if it was covering up too much of the buttons.
-
Thank you I am happy with it. Ok well since its not to big of a deal why not. Oh here are some test run pictures. I am having some thigh sliding problems that I am trying to come up with a solution.
-
So the screws should be painted red? I was wondering that myself as there wasn't much info. I must say I do like the gold color. Thank you I took my time putting it together and did better research. I am so glad it came out good. I even finished installing the fans last night had to switch the 4AA to two 9v per fan so now it is good to go. I am so excited we have a troop this upcoming Saturday so hopefully I can make my debut. You guys helmets look great to me so no worries
