  1. Looking really great, I don't think there is anything else I can add to the feedback already given.
  2. I forgot the RG's were also using those red tinted lenses at times. Great resource.
  3. Tough all around, and when you do find it, it is not cheap. What I would do is get a lense material that is clear and then buy a limo dark tint and then a red tint. But the limo on the inside of the lense and the red on the outside. Might be hard to see through both though. If you do have tinted lesnses already, you could just apply the red. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Tail-Light-Tint-Vinyl-Sheet/dp/B0057K393S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1347633956&sr=8-2&keywords=red+tint
  4. To be honest, I had the hardest time painting the bucket on my own. After may failed attempts, I went to a number of garages until I found one that would paint it for reasonable enough price. They are using auto paint with the gloss sealer, it looked great. Then I went and ruined the bucket, but that was unrelated to the painting...
  5. To clarify, when you submit your application, you will also submit up to 5 number choices from what's available.
  6. Is that one of Scootch's buckets? I am in a remote sessions so I can't see the pics too well. Lighting looks ridiculous, I want one!
  7. Just follow the link I posted and sign up the same way you did here. You will be able to connect with local troopers in your area that can offer some hand-on help.
  8. Don't worry about the padding, it is easy enough to remove in sections. That's what I did. I will try and get a picture of my bucket posted up, but it is currently still buried in my stanley.
  9. Hi Michael. Welcome to the Spec Ops detachment. Have you been on your Garrison board yet. If not, I highly suggestion you sign-up there as well. http://www.stargarri...ateway/main.php You will be able to find existing troopers in your area that can help you out. I am assuming you are looking to do a Shadow Scout?
  10. Doesn't look bad at all and probably especially from the 5 foot view.
  11. And they will always be Blackhole Troopers to me... I have been keeping up on your posts, but to be honest, with prepping for CVI, CVI itself, and Walt Disney World after, I have not had the opportunity to do additional digging on the details you have indicated. There are two routes you can go and one is obviously the easier one, but perhaps the less accurate in the end. That first route, the safest choice as far approvability, is when something seems fishy, like the hooks (see what I did there?), your best route is to look for existing costumes that share that lineage. In this case, that would be the biker scout and now the Shadow Scout. The less safe route is to forge a path toward existing source accuracy. That route is paved with uncertainty and often requires new sources to truly force its way through. My goal is to give you an honest assessment how what means to be a part of such a rich expanded universe based detachment. It is not always easy. We often are making three-dimensional somethings out of two-dimensional nothings. I applaud your effort and you can truly have a direct affect on the future standards for the swampy. My personal opinion, is that at this time the fish-hook should remain consistent with the Biker and Shadow Scout until more clear references are obtained or created.
  12. We encourage people to get what is approvable and works best for them. AM is both approvable and does work better for many troopers, especially with larger heads. I have 3 different style buckets at home and my buddy with a larger head could only fit in my FX. One of the biggest issues with AM is its size, but that all depends on the troopers proportions. On many troopers it looks perfectly fine.
  13. You can remove your beard? Don't we wish all helmeted characters could also be face characters, would make life so much better.
  14. I have assembled a bucket and bought one a assembled. I will say, assembling can be a bit of a pain compared to having the bucket complete like the one I currently have from Arakyel. If you do buy from Arakyel I would advise that you either get it without padding or you ask for the padding not to be installed. I bought the full padding, but I have shifted and removed so many pieces to make it work for my head I wish I would have just had him send it to me separately. I will say, I believe Art had the padding installed by Arakyel and it fit him like a glove.
  15. It is good advice that someone may want to upgrade from their FX/AM later on, but for some troopers, especially bigger noggin'd ones, the FX/AM is the only bucket that will fit on their head. It is a great, affordable starter kit. When choosing a kit there are a lot of options and factors. Cost, detail, etc. Something cheaper might not carry the same detail, but it still looks great. I have made many mods to my armor, but aside from the bucket, the rest of it is still FX armor and it still looks good when done right. If an old FX suit or a new AM kit is available (which they usually are) no reason to push someone away if it lines up with their budget and desire, but there is also no problem pointing them to the other available kits just in case they are not aware of their options.
  16. Overall, out of the box, it will seem quite big, AM are one of the largest sets, but it also can be trimmed down well with the bucket bring the only exception.
  17. Really, the biceps? They really are very close to the elbow bend. It's funny, because I originally had them higher . Looking at it again, seems like my right one is higher. I should lower that one. I can accommodate that easily since they snap in with straps.
  18. Most mods done. Note, have not polished at all yet. Only other thing I still need to do is re-situate the thighs. I may mod them more later, but for now, I will be happy after I get them lined up the way I want.
  19. Have a few things getting settled and then i am going to do a fitting of all my mods tomorrow night. Pictures to come.
  20. ABS glue isn't totally screwed, but it will require severe sanding. Honestly, super glue is not ideal anywhere in your armor. Stick with E6000 for most things. Holds well and can be xacto'd off if need be. That out of the way, I would try to carefully etch the superglue off carefully. You will likely need to sand back to its original shine. I am assuming this is on a hard part?
  21. That looks like an MLC bucket. If it is, its a good choice, though they are a bit heavy.
  22. Lots of things will weaken/remove the glue bond. GooGone (as long as its the non aceton based one), rubbing alcohol, GoofOff (same note), etc
