  1. These days, there are so many outlets that you can purchase blasters from. There are several reputable 3D printed vendors (on sites such as Etsy..though beware...not all are good). I use a DLT-20a (3D printed by Premiere Props)...my friend has a DLT-19 (which he can conver to a DLT-19x) from the same maker. I used to have a full resin DLT-20a from ProCoPrints (modeled from his 3D printed version). I also have an E-11 (Doopy Doos) which has a bit of weight to it.
  2. Ive seen GMLs approve alot of things...obvious things...thats probably not the best standard lol. Theyre gonna do what theyre gonna do. PS I get what youre saying though.
  3. Thank you for the input. I'm leaning towards this build as well and have held off on making any purchasing moves. Just as @Chaos I don't feel comfortable buying something until I know in clear black and white what conditions I need to meet for approval. Anyways, here are a few thoughts I have personally: 1) It's a community discussion. I'm glad to see (today) people leaving the FB arena to participate in the forums...it's a net positive and something that I wish would happen more often quite frankly. Thanks for stopping in...please stay around! 2) I personally agree with the sentiment generally being shared...the seam needs to be minimized and lay flat if it exists. To tier the requirement seems reasonable. I can view this as an accommodation for wearers (not vendors) who might not fit ideal proportions or have larger heads etc. Regarding the material...this can be tiered as well...though it was stated above that to achieve no seam whatsoever would more than likely mean the flex material would have to be used. Both "no seam" and material could be rolled into Level 2...or we can develop Level 3 (which has never been done before at Spec Ops). 3) Everything is still a work in progress and everyone should approach all of this understanding that nothing has been set in stone yet. @nanotek started discussion threads on each piece back in August with @gmrhodes13 assistance in compiling reference pictures. With the movie having come out now and the Blu-Ray release approaching, we are now getting to the nitty gritty of parsing out what needs to be Level 2. That aspect has not been completed yet. For now, I'll leave it at that I think...long post already.
  4. Correct. Though I think we should be ok to make it seamless Level 2...with what material that is achieved with can be open-ended though its more than likely going to require that more flexible material. That's my thought at least.
  5. Right now you have basic member access at these forums. Head here: https://forum.specops501st.com/forum/130-access-requests/ Follow the directions and request Full Spec Ops Access. This will get you access to our merch area as well as our detachment programs. This will establish your full detachment membership and from then on you just need to visit once per year minimum to maintain the access.
  6. If you go that route...and I havent seen ur entire bucket and kit...leave the chest indent gloss (tape off while painting) and replace all decals with gloss solid black decals to contrast the matte finish. Its a stealthy yet classy look...decals will then have a subtle “pop” off the armor. Updated CRL is a good example.
  7. Congrats @stick!!! Well done. Those are some beautiful pics. If you havent done so already dont forget to request your full member access.
  8. Here is my suggestion (note I have a particular personal bias as I prefer the satin/matte finish on Shadow Scouts...see my profile lol)... Use bondo or a filler putty to fill the cracks. Sand smooth and then repaint the entire kit top to bottom...satin would be my choice...but you could finish in gloss as well. I say paint the entire kit as it might prove difficult to get the gloss paint on just the helmet to match the rest of the kit. If they no longer pull their visors in black, you would have to find a white one Id imagine and then paint anyways.
  9. Added black to mic tip interior option for Level 2.
  10. Looking at the primary references (the official comic/card art...not action figure paint applications), I would like to propose that the interior of the mic tips for Level 2 must be white OR black...leaving only the silver option eliminated at Level 2. I am unsure if we need to specify colors for the vocoder for Level 2.
  11. Doing a run through review of this...with pics nearly complete...want to make sure our text aligns to references one final time.
  12. Ok so to move this along... Removing ripstop nylon Nomex verbiage. Canvas (of some sort) will be the only accepted material? Level 2 patch will need to be vinyl w a fabric backing. Still allow embroidered and pvc at level 1? Lastly, compad/pocket orientation. Maybe reword that part a bit, but in essence compad needs to be fully visible correct @MahXPrime? Is this Level 1 or 2?
  13. So what ur saying is you are close to a spot in life where I can finally “hire” you??? Lololol. And yea you are absolutely right. It needs updating And yes you are also right...the forums the forums the forums. Thank you for reiterating that. Anything we can do to make this place a better resource (as it is the place that directly affects what is Legion approved and not) I am for 100%.
  14. Thanks @areilly So the first 2 things I'd like to nail down... 1) Flightsuit fabric/weave. Spec Ops current CRL states "NOMEX ripstop nylon or similar" for Level 1 (no Level 2). JRS states "NOMEX ripstop nylon or similar or Oxford weave canvas" for Level 1 (Level 2 Oxford weave canvas only). It does appear we have a canvas-type material (not ripstop) for the flightsuit. I'm not a professional on fabrics...is this an Oxford weave? What we need to settle on is what will be allowed going forward for Level 1 and what we would like to relegate to Level 2. 2) Patch. Both detachments state "embroidered or PVC vinyl. It does not appear to fully be either. What I see is a textile patch (like a backing) but there is no embroidery on it. The logo itself appears to be a vinyl (marine vinyl) type of material. The patch itself is borderless. (no embroidered edge). Is this type of patch available in any way in the "real world?" Again...what will be allowed at Level 1 and what would be the Level 2 standard?
  15. Just make sure the material is correct. “Vinyl, leather, or leather like material.”
  16. That almost looks to be the same material as the flightsuit no?
  17. I love it @Fivezero! Great to see u on it!
  18. Understandable but as you state comping to CGI clones is quite a bit different from actual costumes. Take ANH TKs...canvas. Thats it. even for Level 1 because thats what it is. That said...Im with @nanotek if there are comparable materials that dont lose look then we can accommodate at base level...but for Level 2 i would expect it to be strictly the one material.
  19. Personally I prefer the ammo pack color. Would the belt work with that is the question?
  20. @Blackwatch before moving on flightsuit...please also move balaclava into required beneath the helmet section. If we need to add a line clarifying it has to be worn when the helmet is on, that's fine. I don't like it the optional as worded...several apps where people use bucket w/out it and the back of their head is showing.
  21. Ok @Blackwatch here are some (I think final) edits to the helmet descrip... 1) Helmet is a specific 3D model to Inferno Squad from Battlefront II. The Rogue One TIE Pilot helmet is allowed for basic approval... Original Trilogy TIE Pilot helmets are not permitted. Trying to abbreviate the opening sentence...yet differentiate the 3 types of helmets...what is accurate, what is allowed, what is not. Does this work you think? 2) Level 1 logo range... Should we keep 2.75 as allowable? So a range like 2.15" - 2.75" for Level 1? Then specify Level 2 as a much smaller range...2.15" - 2.25" Can use verbiage of "approx." and "scaled to wearer"
  22. To make sure I understand...the belt is only piece that is different from the rest of the armor (bucket included)? Then we have fabric belt...and boots if u could give us a pic of those alongside all the stuff as well to see how off we are talking. Currently none of it is painted right?
