Were you able to find black tube stripe decals? I'm sure you could contact Trooperbay and ask them to do them in black. When I've ordered shadow scout decals, he normally prints them in matte...but has done them up in gloss for me when I've requested it.

To date, the standard (unwritten standard?) has been that the red should be consistent. I don't think we can nail it down to much. Gloss red and leave it at that with a note that the color should be consistent throughout the armor?

There are as of yet no references that depict that...and it's ANH TK counterpart that we could potentially align off of do not allow for those either...so unfortunately no.

In the pic above, Weir is using a DLT-20a to hit the Sullustan it would appear. Would there be any opposition to add the DLT-20a option?

Addressed by @Tarrif in conversation. Proposing adding SE-14r blaster based on references. I would be ok w/ adding DLT-20a as well. Thoughts?

Indeed. That sounds more like option 2 though. We wont be creating a separate CRL If option 2 wins out we will do tabs. Option 1...one CRL. Just to clarify, the differentiation between other CRLs would be a byproduct of the name change (added bonus), not the driving factor. The main reason is, “Magma Trooper” isnt what the original reference refers to them as...the Hasbro while not the primary reference, is more aligned with that original reference.

@Brandt8442136 I have used the snaps/popper method before. Id recommend that. Regarding the CRL, you can build your costume to the current CRL if you plan on being done in the very near future. HOWEVER... If you plan on taking a bit of time, you may want to build following the CRL update proposal here: This addresses both the Level 1 and Level 2 requirements that should go into effect sometime early 2020.

Following the release of EA Games Star Wars Battlefront, Disney's canon "Magma Troopers" were introduced. White armor troopers with a pack and breather. The use of Magma Troopers in this format was continued in the Disney canon comics (via Marvel Comics) in issues of Darth Vader. The primary reference for RED CLAD stormtroopers is from Lumiya: Dark Star of the Empire published in 1995 via Topps (I've uploaded a PDF file for review) which contains one front image of red TK-style troopers. Within the text they are never referred to as "Magma Troopers"...they are instead referred to as "Crimson-clad Stormtroopers." The text later goes on to state that these red stormtroopers were assigned to Lumiya and selected from the Emperor's Royal Guardsmen. The application of the term "Magma Trooper" to red TKs was initiated by Gentle Giant in 2009 when they created a statue (pre-Disney). This reference was used primarily to build the current Magma CRL, but it appears to be misnamed by Gentle Giant (the "legend" is that they saw a red stormtrooper at an event, liked the costume and created the statue...naming it themselves). In 2015, Hasbro (at this point under license by Disney) appeared to correct the naming of the red Stormtrooper when releasing their Black Series 4-pack which included the "Crimson Stormtrooper" (this has been added to our references thread) which calls back to the original 1995 reference. This no longer conflicted w/ the Disney canon Magma Trooper which does not use red armor whatsoever. The proposal here is to correct the naming of our Spec Ops version to "Crimson Stormtrooper." It is possible to add it as an alternate name (which I will add as a voting option), but the preference would be to correct the name altogether based on the original 1995 reference and the current Disney canon (disregarding the misnaming by Gentle Giant) to avoid confusion and conflict with the Disney-canon white armor Magma Trooper currently hosted by MEPD. The name change (if accepted) would be put into effect with the CRL proposal update when processed. I do understand that some may have attachment to the old name, but CRLs are ever-evolving documents...never meant to be static...based on references available. Feedback and input is welcome. If you can get it built to match the references we can get it added to the Battlefront Shadow CRL...I kno thats not exactly what your kit is but regardless it would be good for that CRL (and heck maybe another costume project for ya).

You stated you will be building to the proposed CRL changes correct? Not the current CRL. I referenced the proposed changes. Note...holster will need to be moved to optional.

Frown can be black or gray. Black would be more in line w the comic reference. Belt holster should be attached using standard ANH TK method HOWEVER going without the holster would again be more in line w the comic reference from what we can see.

Welcome back! Sounds great! We discussed all the points you brought up...some were bypassed (with reasoning based on the accepted usage of figs as references). But thats a convo for another day. Still doing the IAT?

I agree with @Devolver Id get rid of the print lines as much as possible and add weathering (silver scuffing) afterwards to gice it the used look.

If you build to this I will keep you on standby for pics most certainly. Ah...the holster. I personally am ok w making it optional OR on the left hip if present (those are what can be seen in the references). Didnt change it just yet in case anyone wanted to voice a contrary opinion w reasoning. Name...I believe we will need to setup a poll n try to all-call as many approved Magmas in here to get feedback. At minimum, Crimson Stormtrooper will be added to the name...at most it would replace entirely. I have already spoken w LMO @ionicdesign and we are in agreement something should be done...the one option we would like to avoid is splitting into 2 different CRLs. In any case I will post the poll after Thanksgiving

Not sure. I checked Specialist text (which is being moved into the CRl w update) and dont see it there. Text calls for a consistent gloss red. Thats about it. Magmas (misnamed?) are essentially Royal Stormtroopers. Id imagine they would be pristine like their Royal Guard cousins. Question...are you going for base approval or Specialist? If Specialist, I recommend going by the incoming proposal.
