Hi Eddie. We do not have an official “preapproval thread” here. GMLs have final say on your approval and so we wont overstep that. That said, if you would just like feedback on your build and things to make note of, just create your own thread and we can look at it. I only see one side shot here though unless my page isnt loading properly

yea...canvas pillow (same material as the flightsuit). why is he carrying a pillow though? lol. i don't get it.

hmmm...on the up close it does look like a "pillow" but on that shot where you see most of his body from the side, there does appear to be a fold-over flap.

True...but even still that doesnt necessarily mean it should be the way to go. For a basic approval how would a GML verify that? If its visible on standard approval pics keep it L1 for sure, but if not and the armor would need to be removed with additional pics to verify...well thats L2 material all day Id say and sounds like what we would require for a Specialist app. For me with that switch, these should be all set. Lookin good.

Thx!!! Double check with vendor that the bolts are concave. I bought a pack similar to that and they werent. thonwith some dremel work u might be able to make the concave. Our recent Swamp Trooper crl model did something like that

@tgreen0626 are you referring to the warping in the indentation? If so, I don't think that will be an issue because you will be cutting a slit in there and inserting a strap which will/should cover that area entirely. Can you provide the vendor info for the 22mm bolts?

Here, we just try to make any higher level requirements Level 2 and call it a day...because yea...some of our more recent Disney-canon costumes here at Spec Ops are among the toughest, most detailed builds indeed. Cool thanks! Is the vertical zipper hidden anyways by the armor? L2 if so I think as a GML wouldnt see it.

And with any CRL update, I should note that those that have already been approved are not affected by the update nor required to meet the new standards. The new standards apply to new trooper submissions following the publishing of the update (usually we ask GMLs to give a month or so grace period for those that may be mid-build), any troopers wishing to achieve Level 2 Specialist (this includes troopers approved prior to the update), and to any troopers who go to "retired" status in their garrison and have to submit for re-approval.

@Chaos can answer better...but if the corset style is an unseen (not including any unintentional "gotcha" costume zoom ups on super HD) construction method it won't be mentioned here. You could do it...but the CRL covers visible components not the underworkings persay (at least most of the time). But again, I defer to Chaos here.

@nanotek Can you draft up what L1/L2 would look like when you get a chance? I'd like to see how it splits. Thx!

If the boot is high gloss, I don't think you are out of bounds requiring it as such for Level 2. Level 2 doesn't block any basic approvals...it's a representation of higher visual accuracy. Normally I'm in lock step with @Blackwatch but this is a point I may disagree in (don't get mad at me man lol). So for what it's worth, I'd say you can require that at L2 regardless of whether the boots are readily available or not. Either builders will find ways to meet that requirement or the the demand by builders will cause vendors to produce the product. Right? That's my opinion anyways...as I always say, feel free to out-vote me ?

My kit (purchased from Chef's Creations) came with the bolts...but they are resin cast replicas that he does.

i can see the strap buckles...but these dont seem to be there. that collar is a part of the backplate tho...so they removed it?

mudtrooper (wink) at least for legion purposes lol. it seems that way...it is possible that because it is a range trooper chest a range trooper specific back plate is used?

I think all the under-brow details are Level 2. A GML will not be able to see those from standard submission pics.

Reading the original post, I think determining L1/L2 is the primary task.
