  1. Looking very nice! To me the thigh shim looks just fine.
  2. I can't wait to see the approval post, you worked hard on this one! It will be nice to see the completed CRL with images, as well.
  3. That can make sense, different paints may have different setup times and reapplication/coating times as well. They can all react to the primer and/or materials as well, as everyone knows. Glad that it is working for you now!!
  4. I'm not a paint pro either and it has been awhile since I have painted anything (car parts was the last), but I think wrinkling can happen if you apply too many coats too fast or it is thick.
  5. Hello! Just curious, where is the helmet from? Reasonably priced and already assembled (commissioned) generally aren't synonymous with each other from what I've seen, as you are paying for the labor to put it together. I know that Crookknight (https://www.facebook.com/groups/679029939155041/) is now offering armor assembly services with measurements, but I'm not sure who else may do so. Walt's Trooper Factory has a great shadow stormtrooper set which is unassembled and Crookknight should be able to assemble with a cost. I think that RS Propmasters is still selling the fully commissioned shadow stormtrooper from the UK (http://www.rspropmasters.com/product/complete-shadowtrooper-commission/). I assembled mine myself, it came from Anovos, so I'm not too familiar with commission services. Let us know if you have any other questions!
  6. Sounds like a mighty fine challenge to me!
  7. Yep, what was mentioned above. Black isn't required for L2 either, but it definitely adds a nice touch!
  8. Looking awesome man! I wish I was close to you, I'd help you take pics.
  9. I would say those black boots should be fine. The CRL pic actually looks a little on the pointier side as well. Stirrups would work to keep down or some velcro, either or.
  10. Looking good so far! Tackled that helmet nicely.
  11. To me gloss is totally related to shine alone and if you can see somewhat of a picture (clarity is totally dependent on the shine) then it is good. Looking at the RS prop one, even though it is a lot more flat black compared to the others you can still see some reflection of surrounding stuff in it. It isn't perfect in clarity but it is still there. The reason I bring that up is on the hand plates it states they can be latex or latex-like material or glossy which is often a more dull finish but still glosses with light. I think the fact that we are based off some book descriptions and such we definitely have that in our favor amongst all the different makers.
  12. Haha true, there is always another day too! I have been meaning to ask you, how is the weight with all of those power banks? You have them within each armor piece or do you have them running wires to another spot? Like rigged to a belt or suspenders?
  13. Saw the stuff on Instagram, great work! Down to the wire with 05/04
  14. For the Shadow I did mine like TK because a lot of the L2 Specialist stuff requires them to paint match or at least be close with gloss black. However, I don't have the next level ab/kidney rivets on my TK so the only rivets I have painted on both my TK and Shadow is the thigh ammo pack. I didn't do the lower part of the ab area around the groin area because it can't be seen.
  15. I did not because my kit is ABS and acetone melts it, so I didn't want to risk the chance of causing a big mess. I suppose that I could spill a little CA glue on a scrap piece and then use some acetone in a small amount and scrap off in light motions as suggested above. If I get some free time I could experiment that.
  16. Tom, the sanding and Novus didn't really do much so I just kind of left it since it was on the back. I had some gloss black testors paint that seemed to kind of hide some of the smaller spots, so I'd recommend that. I'll try and find the paint code for it but I got it at Hobby Lobby.
