  1. Looking good so far! Tackled that helmet nicely.
  2. To me gloss is totally related to shine alone and if you can see somewhat of a picture (clarity is totally dependent on the shine) then it is good. Looking at the RS prop one, even though it is a lot more flat black compared to the others you can still see some reflection of surrounding stuff in it. It isn't perfect in clarity but it is still there. The reason I bring that up is on the hand plates it states they can be latex or latex-like material or glossy which is often a more dull finish but still glosses with light. I think the fact that we are based off some book descriptions and such we definitely have that in our favor amongst all the different makers.
  3. Haha true, there is always another day too! I have been meaning to ask you, how is the weight with all of those power banks? You have them within each armor piece or do you have them running wires to another spot? Like rigged to a belt or suspenders?
  4. Saw the stuff on Instagram, great work! Down to the wire with 05/04
  5. For the Shadow I did mine like TK because a lot of the L2 Specialist stuff requires them to paint match or at least be close with gloss black. However, I don't have the next level ab/kidney rivets on my TK so the only rivets I have painted on both my TK and Shadow is the thigh ammo pack. I didn't do the lower part of the ab area around the groin area because it can't be seen.
  6. I did not because my kit is ABS and acetone melts it, so I didn't want to risk the chance of causing a big mess. I suppose that I could spill a little CA glue on a scrap piece and then use some acetone in a small amount and scrap off in light motions as suggested above. If I get some free time I could experiment that.
  7. Tom, the sanding and Novus didn't really do much so I just kind of left it since it was on the back. I had some gloss black testors paint that seemed to kind of hide some of the smaller spots, so I'd recommend that. I'll try and find the paint code for it but I got it at Hobby Lobby.
  8. The is interesting and a great note for anyone doing future work. I never knew that some of those had an auto-off for too low a draw, but rather for not drawing period (with on/off switches). I'll have to take a look at my power banks and see if they are the same.
  9. Another idea would be put the LED's higher just inside the eye up and something behind it so that they don't shine through any thin plastic around the eye too between the helmet and the lenses. If done that way it shouldn't be showing on the outside of the helmet, at least from the way I'm thinking. That cloth mesh method in the video is pretty legit as well, and probably the best route now that I've seen it.
  10. Looking good! Also, I second Izzi on that, maybe can get them just above the eye cut-outs? That way they reflect off the lenses, hmmm.
  11. Glad to see you join the ranks! Great work! You'll be making adjustments here and there until it fits just right and no more pinches
  12. Looks like it is back up again. I wonder if that was a glitch of sorts?
  13. Yeah I noticed that this morning when I did my normal "no life" check on CRLs ...let's see what happens!
  14. Hmmm, I'm trying to think who is the closest in shine to Anovos (which is who my costume is by). May get in touch with Walt at Walt's Trooper Factory to see what he has.
  15. Who was the original maker of your armor? That may influence which ones match the closest.
  16. Ahhh okay now I know what you mean. Yeah mine on my cod and lower ab are silver. If you want to go level 2 with specialist then all those rivets and snaps are painted black. For basic approval there isn't much in terms of that. Here are the specialist requirements: http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/1445-blackhole-shadow-stormtrooper-crl-and-specialist-requirements/
