Haha beginning to look like it is time to start the dance of the droid ?
-
Hey there! Can't wait for the project updates and pics!
-
Sent you a PM. I'm a nerd for CRL stuff, so I'd like to check it out.
-
I think it looks great! Should be fine. ?
-
From the looks of it I'd say that black is good on that helmet, because it does have that sheen. @Evilshadow @Blackwatch totally agree there, the weathering in my opinion is definitely better with the satin.
-
I just checked and the armor has to be gloss or semi-gloss, so I guess semi-gloss is going to be the closest to the matte.
-
^I concur with the matte, the only thing it'll show more of is fingerprint and oils but easier to get rid of than scratches. My gloss shadow stormtrooper looked beat to hell about after the 4th trooper ?
-
They have some interesting shoulder bells and knee guards haha...helmet looks fantastic!
-
That helmet bag looks awesome! I love the progress on this and seeing it come along. A lot more complex project then I'd ever dare to try to complete. I totally agree with the slow and steady method that you are aiming for, this is going to turn out great. ?

I have leather ones from Trooperbay which look pretty nice for my heavy weapons trooper. Another HWT in my squad has the canvas ones and it looks just as good. I think it'll all come down to which you like the best. His also has that little extra pouch off his and mine doesn't.
-
This is awesome!
-
Any more progress on this? ?
-
Yeah just ever so slightly a little bit at a time so you get the right contour. Will feel a lot better.
-
I'd definitely say that is sitting a bit better, you may want to curve on the insides a little bit just so that they aren't rubbing up against the cod piece so much. Here are a few pics to try and explain it: You can see it more on the white TK but you can somewhat see the curve around the cod piece on my shadow: Here it is with me (with pauldron) and a buddy: One of me that you may be able to see as well: Either way don't need to take off any more from top or bottom from what I see, since you have been able to move it up and bring it higher up so the pieces are above the knees.
-
The only was I could see it getting narrower would be to split it and taper it off from what'd I'd say. If that won't work I'd shorten it at the top and follow along the curves until it is a little further off your knee. I'd honestly go with the second option I'd say just gradually taking a bit at a time. It honestly doesn't look bad, just a little on the long side.

CRL Development - Imperial Army Sapper (Complete)
IcyTrooper replied to Blackwatch's topic in Imperial Army Sapper
That is weird that he was hard to communicate. I have a heavy weapons trooper pack from him and he pretty much met it on time, he is a great guy. Mine got lost temporarily when he moved but things happen. Hopefully it shows up in the next few weeks! -
My vocoder, traps, and stripes on mine are flat black. My frown is silver with my silver lenses and it looks great!
-
That's neat!
-
@Raider haha yep I figured it would have to be broken up some more because I felt like I got a little wordy! L2 and no L3 actually makes it a heck of a lot easier so that is cool. ? I like the description by @Blackwatch too. That overlap method is pretty neat once you see it in action and the pieces are designed for it. That tank trooper I did which is pretty much a combo between shoretrooper and death trooper was my first time doing overlap. I can see how it wouldn't work on other kits if the mold wasn't designed to produce plastic with the ability to overlap.
-
I know that the following do from FISD: TK - Stormtrooper: ANH Hero (at basic, not for L3) TK - Stormtrooper: ANH Stunt (at basic, not for L3) TK - Stormtrooper: ESB (at basic, not for L3) TK - Stormtrooper: ROTJ (at basic, not for L3) TK - Stormtrooper: Incinerator Trooper (required for L3) TK - Stormtrooper: Shock Trooper (required for L2) TK - Stormtrooper: Sky Trooper (required for L2) TK - Stormtrooper: Death Trooper - TK (required for L3 on some) They removed it from L3 if I remember right on the TK Commander on the updates.

^best advice. The CRL's are there for a reason, it is pretty black and white with this one.
-
While it is not common I don't understand why it cannot be used, as you have shown it says so in the CRL. Is the GML saying it is wrong getting consensus from another GML in the Garrison or is it just his/her decision? I think I've seen a black ABS belt once before. FYI your kit looks good from what I can see!
-
@Raider Yep I agree with what you said ? I have added a few details below but I feel like I may have gone to crazy. I think some of the crazier stuff we could move to L2 or L3 (like LED's and smoke, etc.) Styled after the pack as seen in the Battlefront II video game. A loose interpretation is allowed, but screen accuracy is encouraged. Comprised of main box and fuel tank at the top of the pack that creates the look of a "T" and exhaust sections on the left and right bottom of the pack. Main box which is the base of the T will have a recessed section with 3 indents/strips of the same size and width followed by 3 black circles below the lowest of 3 idents/strips. There will also be 3 indents/strips that are black at the bottom of this main box with a silver rectangle offset to the right of the middle-most black indent/strip. The fuel tank at the top will have a raised center section with lips on each end and a seam in the middle that goes through recessed elongated slots that are illuminated or painted orange. Connecting to this center section are two identical caps on each end with evenly spaced recessed elongated slots around each end cap (8 should be visible when looking from the back) follow by a silver/grey circular lip at the end facing outwards. On the inside of each circular end cap there are 3 separate raised circular greeblies that are silver and arranged as per the reference photos. The left and right exhaust sections are similar with visible seams where the edges join. There is a black/silver stripe at the bottom of each section port in the center just before the actual exhaust ports themselves. At the bottom of the exhaust section is an actual exhaust port greeblie that is black and recessed inside each exhaust section. A silver rectangle is present on left exhaust section only and goes the length of the flat section before the curves and slants of the exhaust section. Pack attaches to the O II portion of the back armor via a raised section.

@Raider Glad it made sense! I guess I could have put in there with the overlap it looks like the lip/cover is molded into the armor. With the pack I'm on the fence on that one as I see where the pack verbiage is being derived from. I know we had some issues with heavy weapons troopers (HWT) on the FISD side with the CRL image being considerably different than what was being approved. The ones getting approved though looked exactly like the game ones and everyone on their own built to the likeness of the video game with very little variation which was awesome! The original CRL image looked like a cross between the new image and a sandtrooper backpack and it confused a lot of people (but was probably good enough at the time it first was released). I think we could add a few more details but also leave the verbiage in there about likeness of the game as to not limit individuals in what it takes to build the pack globally. I know some kits can get a little wordy and specific with details using products that may not be available to everyone or hard to achieve. There is a happy medium in it all I'm sure to keep things consistent.
