  1. Gadzooks man! I'm a scout guy to be sure but this....this is just wicked and it's making me want to get a set. This is just a sweet build. Nice work! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. The finish on that armor is simply amazing. I would love to have a tutorial of how to get a paint job to look that good. I ask as I am working a shadow and I'll be painting it to get that nice satiny black. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. HI Dan. Goodness that had to be miserable as well as painful. I'm sorry you had to do that. You are absolutely right about the tank rivets. It's only if you are going for Specialist that a rivet is required for the tank.
  4. Nice build Mike! What was the specific color red you used and manufacturer of the paint? Thanks much!
  5. It's looking so nice! Check the CRL though I'm not sure if you need to paint the holster rivets. Did you use the mirror film on your visor? I really like the look of it.
  6. No worries! That should be fine. You should see the gaps on the scouts in ROTJ😀. Check the CRL as I believe that you'll need two rivets here one on the bottom and another on the top through the tank topper. On my white armor I created a tab out of scrap ABS and inserted it through the back of the armor for the upper rivet to connect to. It made the tank connection much stronger. Once I got the top topper installed I gently pushed down on the tank and drilled through both pieces then inserted the rivet. That tank isn't going anywhere. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. Get that armor done trooper the Empire needs you! I'm one to talk I still have mine to finish too!
  8. Your armor is looking great! The cool thing about all you learned is that now you can pass it on to new troopers to help them make their builds sweet. Look forward to seeing you suit up!
  9. Thanks a lot for compliment Jon. It's required for the TB (Biker Scout) so I wanted to check. Actully I was hoping that the red strip was permitted as that would be a touch of color on the tank but that's ok. I plan on doing the armor in satin and setting all the greeblies off with a coat of gloss so it should have some good contrast. Tonight I started to tackle my helmet but cutting out the visor section. I first drilled a series of holes using a 1/2" drillbit This will make trimming out the plastic a touch easier. I can use a bigger pair of snips for this portion then switch to the smaller scissors to clean up the remaining plastic before I sand it smooth. Here's the rough cut with the snips. So from here it's the final trimming and sanding for the visor. More to come on this really nice helmet.
  10. Yay! Spike you found your way here. The lids look great!
  11. That's a great idea with the split rivet method! What's the foam you used on the knee? I'd like to do that for my biker scout and my shadow scout.
  12. No problem Tony there's a HD by my house. I'll just go match the webbing. Thanks for the lead!
  13. Tony may I ask what model # of 3M liner you have in your lid? It looks really comfortable and I'm looking to get one for the Shadow Scout lid I'm building. Thanks for any help.
  14. Thanks Grif! I'll give it a coat of gloss black and call it good.
  15. Quick question. Does a red stripe and white dot need to painted on the tank topper like the TB version or does the entire piece remain black?
  16. That is simply.......amazing! I'm just speechless.
  17. No. They do not overlap. Bring the bicept up to under the vest sleeve and roll it forward. Then roll your forearm over and push it about a quarter of the way over the top of your gauntlet. That part sits on just about the top of your arm. Your armor is looking great! The fitment part is a learning experience and you'll be a pro in no time.
  18. Good point. I was thinking of something like a replacement lens for ski goggles or bmx. That silver reflection really sets the bucket off so dark or not I'm still going to do it:)
  19. I found this over on FISD and I thought it might help. How does this look in comparison? http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_skytrooper http://databank.501st.com/databank/File:Skytrooper_Backpack.jpg
  20. Yeah I got that too but I was a little concerned with adding an extra layer of tint to an already dark lens. I though about evening troops and bonking into things because I couldn't see:)
  21. Maybe because it's the last thing a Rebel sees when they turn a corner...."Awwwww #&@#! (insert volumeous blaster fire here)".
  22. That looks good right there and I wouldn't tinker with it much more. What lens did you decide to go with? I've been searching for a mirrored one to replace the dark green one that came in my kit. I think it makes it that much more cooler:) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. I thought the Clones had a type of jet pack that was close to this? Maybe take a look through the Clone CRLs for the jet trooper. If it's close maybe all you would have to do is add some greeblies or build it up a bit. Just a thought. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  24. Nice work! I'm haven't been all that interested in full armor but this armor is making me rethink that decision:) The scope on the SE-14r looks a little too high to me. Should that be lowered a bit closer to the barrel?
