Blackwatch Imperial Army Engineer Build
Blackwatch replied to Blackwatch's topic in Imperial Army Engineer
The first tab is done!!!!! There Take a look at the trials; there were two total failures, and one that almost made it. This is almost four complete hours of work on my wifes part, using her home embroidery machine that she normally uses for her business. this is on the "Army Green " fabric from Joanns. I am VERY happy to see this happen!!!!!! -
Two hours in, my wife is on the third test. So far the third test has made it further than the other two have. My wife learns from each test, but its clear that a home embroidery machine with the program CAN do it....with considerable operator effort. UPDATE! NOW were moving along! this is black embroidery on Army Green fabric (as they call it) from Joanns.

Blackwatch Imperial Army Engineer Build
Blackwatch replied to Blackwatch's topic in Imperial Army Engineer
The last of the pouches arrived today and I need to make one adjustment to my harness for better fit. Currently waiting on the green patches. -
Thanks, I have worked on a lot of CRLs and Standards over the years and I know that things get left in when copied from the original source text. I know all too well the work and effort that goes into creating these. On the purple suits I have always taken that to be either dark grey or black , but should charcoal be chosen for the coveralls Automotive Workwear has a set of charcoal coveralls in their CT10 line.

Imperial Army Trooper Belt Question
Blackwatch replied to JamesFraser83's topic in Imperial Army Trooper
im a big guy so I got two of those, figured out where it had to be cut, and stitched them together to make my belt. -
get a black coverall, take the back pockets off the back with a seam ripper,. and put them on the front. Look at the recommended USMC vintage green coverall for the Army trooper, it will be the same for the black. Take a piece off the cuff at the bottom of the leg and make a collar extension. I had to learn to sew out of necessity. I watched youtube videos and read sewing forums. Im a firm believer in actively gaining new skills.

Solo Movie: Rangetrooper
Blackwatch replied to kievanmereel's topic in TX Research & Development Bay
early speculation usually leads to both wrong information, or incorrect CRLs which get changed soon after a movie drops. I feel this wilbe the same case. -
im glad you said that. I was planning on spice brown llke the current patches. black it is!
-
my wife is doing her best to make my tabs now. I plan to go whole hog as well.

i just made commentary on the propoosed CRL. The CRL only describes the four pockets, and the images that will be approved will bear that out. We will need to wait and see about approving the eight pocket variant. Definitely talk to your GML since he or she will be making the call based on the published CRL. I was pretty by the book , what I see in the CRL picture and what is in the CRL text when I was a GML.

Imperial Army Engineer CRL (Archived)
Blackwatch replied to Tarrif's topic in Imperial Army Engineer
Checking it out now, Ill have comments in that topic thread. THANK YOU for movign this forward! -
I would think that that the backpack version would be a different named costume. When I was building mine several years ago, I took that to be a demolitions expert carrying Mengalore torpedoes, and that is how I was intended to build it. Olivier used Thermal Detonators on his orignal build, simliar to what can be interpreted on the art. Question: Has the Pioneer (soft cap, shortie gloves) been removed, or will it be integrated as a option? The main reason I ask is that there is no differentiation in the gloves, like in the original CRL proposal. Engineers had the ganutlets like TIs and Pioneers had short search gloves like Officers. I have both. Only the Trooper near the top has a mention of the guantlets, indicated for level 3. It would be confusing to have the same description, but photos indicating one without guantlets. Originally the only Tab present was on the Pioneer, but to me it makes sense to add it to both uniforms since it is a distinction that would be earned early in a troopers career. CRL Proposal Observations: Imperial Army [DH1] I believe this should read Imperial Engineer Trooper Web Harness For 501st approval: Black colored, double strap “H†harness which travels from the lower back, and up over the shoulders. The harness system attaches to the belt. Harness is made of 2 inch olive green nylon webbing CCP from the Army Trooper, should read black webbing. Belt For 501st approval: Belt is a nylon military style quick release web belt. Belt is olive green in color. CCP from the Army Trooper, should read black Belt Pouches For 501st approval: Belt pouches are black in color and should be made of nylon or similar material. MA47 double handcuff MOLLE PALS belt pouches should be on either side of the belt buckle where the harness meets the belt. A tactical triple magazine PALS belt pouch should be on the rear of the belt where the left harness strap meets the belt. Any additional OD black MOLLE style pouches are encouraged to fill out the belt, but are not required. Strike OD Boots are discussed twice in seperate areas, once under belt, again where you would normally find boots in a typical CRL.

Johnnycab's Imperial Army Trooper/Officer WIP build
Blackwatch replied to JohnnyCab's topic in Imperial Army Trooper
definitely the best image of the shape of the coveralls I have seen so far. I cant wear the marine coveralls but I have a set in mind I want to get that is very close to that color. are you finding that your straps want to fall off your shoulders? Mine are..I see velcro in their future to keep them in place. -
Update 1: My webbing just came in. I will have my straps done in thirty minutes. Update 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6: I have all the parts ready, and have taken photos of everything we have. Update 7 8 9 10 and 11: UPDATE 12: With the change to the crl proposal I scrapped mine harness rig and started from scratch. I ordered more pouches for the crl and I will be building up the snaps that will go on to the pouches. It may take a day or two for the pouches to come in. I finished my harness with triglides last night. Update 13 CHANGE LOG 5 I remade the harness AGAIN so that it would fit my shoulders, and follow them vs poking up like Commander Spock shoulders. This time I proportioned the curve to fit ME better, and moved the front of the belt up, moving the horizontal strap down to my mid shoulderblades. I consider this a complete redo. I took yet another set of photos, one WITH and one WITHOUT goggles, in case the LMO decides against the use of goggles. With Goggles Without goggles goggles as worn in the comics ====================================================================================== Change 4 log photos, dated 15 APRIL , the latest and greatest per the CRL proposals Change 4.1 added photo of modified puoches and gloves for comparisoon Goggles on, per the original art Change 4 log: Added padded hand backs to the gloves, I found a set in the UK but he would only ship locally, they were on Ebay and quite literally perfect! I also added the snaps and little straps to the pouches. I am waiting on another big pouch to arrive to put on my belt at the back. Original art for comparison. You can see the snaps and the big glove blocks. i need to paint the snaps tomorrow. Change 3 log: I have changed the coveralls per the new CRL, and added a couple more pouches to the belt. The coveralls are changed to reflect the new CRL proposal with leg cargo pockets with flaps, stuffed to appear full, I took off the lower leg patch pockets and took off the SAPPER tabs. I added a notched greeblie to my old Gina hat Ive had for years. No other changes made other than whats listed above. Change 3 photos: End of Change log. ===================================================================================== My Imperial Engineer & Pioneer are underway. As you can see from my status bar, I have my hat and boots and suit done. I ordered three pairs of the recommended glove (they were on sale! ) Part of my harness is complete, my two inch webbing will be here soon and I can knock that out in an hour. Ill need a black web belt. Im also awaiting the patches which I ordered from the WTF page. I need to tweak this suit suit for better fit. I am making my own tabs for this project. Until I can get a proper source for these, I am working with dimensional fabric paint and embroidered edges. Im flipping the channel back to 2008 when we didnt buy, we made (cause we didnt have vendors making stuff like we do now).

Imperial Army Trooper Parts List & Resource
Blackwatch replied to Tarrif's topic in Imperial Army Trooper
here's my list of links from the JRS, I just copied it directly from there. Ill have time this weekend to check all the links. *updated July 2016 Edited as required. I will consolidate my list of boot links here, using newly found, and previously available and still "live" boot vendors. If you are like me and have really big feet, look to motorcyle boots, as European boots will not usually be made in your size. They top out at US 13. Wide calf ladies boots. Other than the upper strap not being there, these are very close to Sportsmans Guide's Engineer boots. A bit tall, you may need to trim the top down. http://www.roamans.com/clothing/Peggy-w ... n4wR_msiSq http://soviet-power.com/detail.php?pid=163 http://www.epicmilitaria.com/section.ph ... rman-boots http://www.militarytour.com/military-pr ... orms/boots http://www.tridentmilitary.com/Boots.htm Call Prior to purchase http://www.hessenantique.com/Footwear_s/96.htm http://militaryharbor.com/Product.aspx?MID=483 Ebay auction for boots http://tinyurl.com/d7q8vm4 (unknown how much in inventory) http://www.Sportmansguide.com often has vintage, surplus boots from around the world. check thier website as well. Also check for the Size Zip engineer boot at that site. Available in wide sizes. Leatherup .com has served many here over the years. http://www.leatherup.com/mp/Mens-Engine ... 41626.html if you have big (or small) feet this may be your ticket. Make sure to check with your local GML prior to purchase since approval is up to them. *This engineer box toe boot is not approvable due to the toe and the wellington top.* -
