  1. Hi Chris ive had a chance to review the files and compare to the images that were using to build the CRL, a series of good screengrabs. Likely the same you used. You seem to have the new shin correct. The only thing that catches me and its very minor is the sweep angle of the bicep cut out. It may be the way they rotate when you wear them, and how it was filmed.
  2. Matt I laugh but man, i know the struggle. Sebastian thank you for pulling this file together for us, this is necessary!
  3. Catching up on all the topics. Love the look and the fact its a real castle nut ( we hear castellated nut in the field a lot). Really enjoying watching the progress on this.
  4. thanks for posting that , it brings up a question. I saw Kevin Weir is casting his in something flexible for his kits. And of course differnt boots will be different sizes. When you walk how well do these move with you? Any issues with popping off? Im gonna go out on a ledge and make the assumption you are doing these in PETG, my only concern is the way they are printed the stress may cause seperation along the X axis over time. I figure Ill have to print mine too , but ill print them at an angle.
  5. @Deamos @Diet_Evil I want to say thank you not only for the collaboration and candor with which you guys are tackling this. I know ntohing about creating files, im the guy that buys them then prints. Seeing this work itself out , and seeing the challenges makes for some very interesting reading! Ill be the guy writing the CRL and eventually building Sgt Gharial, so im watching this one closely. Im also pricing MP40s. I would love to find one broke on Ebay! For the side support struts metal flashing or even thin bar stock from the hardware store and socket head screws to mount them would be my frist inclination. Especially if a nut or nut insert could be modeled in for mounting.
  6. Ive been working the Del crl mod and my mind is freid from that, I need to clear it. From black, to white. Its been a couple of days. is there any further input on the proposal above? its our existing armor, painted all white with slopped on wash.
  7. after we clear the tactical vest proposal above, ill gladly move to the overbelt, underbelt, thermal and rear pouches.
  8. yeah, otherwise the differeces page would require a crl of its own. I have seen that declaration in the past. Ill swing back to the helmet section, make that change, add that to the L2 remarks, and annotae the edit date line at the bottom remarking that this change was made.
  9. heres the next change log for our vest. Clearly one of the more complcated parts for Del. Change log 2.2 Tactical Vest The tactical vest and its pouches are made of black fabric similar to the flight suit material. Heavy black canvas is recommended. There are three M4 / M16 style magazine pouches fitted to the front of the vest, each filled by a rectangular package covered in the same fabric as the tactical vest. The packages fill the pouches completely, and extend above the pouch. Each package has a black gloss strip mounted to the front at the top, which should appear to be constructed from a similar material to the costume's hard armour parts. There is a black block on the right side of the vest matching references, held in place by one of the webbing straps described below There are a total of fourteen wide horizontal black webbing straps sewn onto the front of the tactical vest, with four stacked horizontally on either side of the pouches, and two at the front of each pouch. Straps are approximately 1" (25mm) wide and sewn to match reference images. The main shoulder straps are made from leather or leather-like material, which cross at the back and attach to the top edge of the vest on both sides. The front shoulder straps are attached to triglide buckles, which in turn attach to the top front edge of the vest with a shorter strap. The shoulder straps cross near the top of the back armor box. Each shoulder strap runs through a tri-glide at the rear before feeding into approximately 1" (25mm) wide side release buckles which attach to the top edge of the vest. There is a leather or leather-like waist strap (approximately 1" or 25mm wide) present at the back of the tactical vest, and it is attached to the vest with one quick release buckle on the right or left side of the vest at the wearer's option. This quick release buckle is hidden under the scout pouch, and is not seen when worn. A single adjusting tri-glide is centered on the back waist strap. There is a specific buckle greeblie mounted above the front tri-glide buckles on each side, matching reference images. There is a horizontal strip mounted to each front shoulder strap, several inches above the buckle greeblie. The strips should be made from the same material as the shoulder straps. The Flyye tactical vest is not accurate and will not be approved for use. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): The vest is proportional to the wearer. See reference images and the Costume Gallery for placement of specific components. There are two vertical stitches near the inner edge of the horizontal webbing straps. This may be topstitched. All shoulder and waist straps are made of black leather or leather-like material. Vest front tri-glides are made with reference to the games 3D model, and are attached to the vest with straps that are approximately 1.37" x 1.37" (35mm x 35mm) wide. Buckle style greeblies made with reference to the 3D models are attached to the shoulder straps above the tri-glides. The front shoulder straps which go over the shoulder and continue to the back are made of 3 layers which are glued, sewed or bonded together. Stitching is permitted as long as the stitches are small and do not detract from the overall appearance. The first (bottom) layer is approximately 1.37" (35mm) The middle layer shall be approximately 1" (25mm) wide. The final layer is approximately 9/16" (15mm) wide. The layered part of the leather shoulder straps runs up over the shoulders and stops below the rear of the collar. It then continues on as an approximately 1" (25mm) wide black strap, passing through tri-glides and into side release buckles, which are held to the vest with straps that are approximately 1" (25mm) wide. The three magazine pouches fall below the bottom edge of the vest. The top of the pouch is in line with the bottom edge of the upper webbing strap. The bottom edge of the pouch may come close to but not touch the top edge of the overbelt.
  10. Paul your patch workup is interesting. Do we have any other views of the comic scans that would support it being any different than the standard patch. My thought this morning would be the medic logo on the side of the box with the tubes and wires coming out. i can cut those all day on my cricut and vinyl. We dont generally get too far off with what we dont know, the one case where we did was with the sappers and my wife embroidered the sapper tabs on her machine with a standard aurbesh typface converted to a SVG file that her machine reads. Now I would do it in vinyl and heat press it saving a step. There we departed from the "this is known" Im goign out in the weeds here myself but what Im thinking is something like this ------------------------------- % MEDIC --------------------------------- Anway Id love to get more input. Personally I see no reason not to include a somewat simpler variant of the Army trooper, Im sure CO dont exist in the lore but someone had to be trained to keep a trooper alive. We already have the medic mudtrooper CRL established and the comics predate that as precedent. hell a bunch of us have the Eduardo Groult inspired Medic Trooper armor, we dont have any markigns other than the green stripe up and over the top and back down, but we do wear green coveralls under the TK armor. If you havent seen them, they are different for sure. Paul would you mind punching up a CRL proposal using what we already have for the soft / cap version of the IAT as a reply to this topic? we have a lot of proposals being posted now, and Id want to keep things streamlined.
  11. Thanks Paul. Thsee are great scans. lets keep this open. This is someting we had not previousl discussed, and it would give us literally an option, should the LMO allow it. It owuld also remove the annoying suspenders that alway fall down. Ive made leather SER14 holsters and I made one backwards one time because I put the pattern down wrong on the leather. That gives you that crossdraw. Seeing the rectangle, we can only make the surmise that you already have regarding this technical trooper. What are your thoughts? The word MEDIC in Aurbesh on the patch? We dont see rank bars on anyone in the coveralls, including Lt. Sunber, so my surmise is this is not a rank. None of our IATs or Engineers have a pocket to hold code cylinders, and things like cap greeblies seem to be hit or miss. I personall dont wear them becaues I wear my hat flipped around backwards under my helmet the way I did in the Army. I agree with the pouch layout assessment and the hip mounted pouch may be a medic pouch or modern MOLLE IFAK pouch. We know officers usually carry M-S power 5 or DL-44 but we are seeing the SER14 series more commonly now for NCOs. the medic box is literally just that, a cheap ammo can with tubes and wires. Easy half hour prop as far as Im concerned. Further thoughts and discussion welcome.
  12. before moving on to any other discussion, i want to clear and lock this text. Once this is agreed upon , we will move forward. final text proposal. Chest Armor Chest armor matches visual references being accurate in shape and design. Chest armor is painted gloss white to match visual references. Light to moderate weathering consistent with reference images is permitted. The join between the chest and back armor are created by an angled sweep starting at the bottom of the chest armor and finishing at the bottom of the back armor. This may be held closed with magnets, Velcro, or another hidden fastener. There is an indented area around the outer edge of the center flat section. Buckles attach to upper chest plate and are painted gunmetal or dark silver. Shoulder straps are affixed to the chest plate at the buckle. The shoulder strap is white. It is permitted to be made of cast flexible urethane or other flexible material. To the lower left side of the center flat panel is a recessed area angled inward from bottom to top with a raised rectangle greeblie and a recessed horizontal elongated oval. Left of the recessed area is a raised square that extends from the center to the curved side of the armor. On the top left side of the raised area is a raised oblong detail that protrudes outwards. Chest shall be painted to match helmet and back armor. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Buckles have black recess on upper narrow section and the lower recess shall expose the chest armor. Moderate weathering consistent with reference images is required. Back armor Back plate is painted to match the chest armor, shin and arm armor. Back plate has a collar that extends upwards and tapers to the chest plate. Chest and back plate meet at the sides. There are 2 hose connectors located at the top of the back plate approximately centered above each rectangular cut out/greeblie. Back has two large cut out recesses with vent details and greeblies inside, all painted the same white as the armor. The vents at the top of the boxes may have the openings darkened with weathering. Four raised bars approximately .375" (10mm) long aligned to the top of the recessed box opening may be present. Each recess has different and specific set of boxes inside that are painted to match the recessed box color. Light weathering is preferred inside of the recesses. Bottom left features a smaller rectangle cut out with the left side stepped. Half circle indent detail beneath the backpack section must be present. There is a long thin raised greeblie positioned central and below the 2 large recesses. There is a small raised circle greeblie positioned central and below the above named greeblie. There is a raised slot on each shoulder for the straps to fit into. Shoulder straps are white and are affixed to the chest plate at the buckle. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): The hose fittings are angled forward. There is a raised step on the bottom of the main back box. There is a recessed hole approximately .31" (7.8mm) above the top left corner of the left recessed box. There are two indented squares approximately 1⁄4" x 1⁄4" (5mm x 5mm) aligned vertically above the right upper corner of the left recessed box.
  13. troopers we are off track. While the discussion IS necessary, we need to focus back to the CRL text dicussion. We are now officially off in the weeds. This is why we go one item at atime. One item, once bullet point, one discussion.
  14. i saw the file and i wanted to see someone actually PRINT it. Thanks Antonio!! I hate getting burned on a file that looks great on Etsy and turns out to be hot garbage when its printed. Now I can actually print it I have not taken the time to look at the helmet since were not quite there yet on the new CRL, it will be an optional part since only a few of the greenies actually wore them, and not for long, but once we are there and if we have Shayan's reference photos we can do a comparison. Id love to see a coule of other view to make sure this file matches our shape correctly.
  15. we are working on the CRL for Ghorman and Season 2. That would be the appropriate place to discuss any changes/ modification since it will be a new CRL.
  16. it goes to the front and there is a slot the keyway fits into. Warning- they all break. I dont know what the long term fix is, i keep gluing mine back together. mine has a small piece of webbing that feeds through the slot on the chest first, and conncts to a snap. I saw a shoretrooper this past weekend and both of his neck pieces were snapped right at the thinnest part where the keyway is. https://databank.501st.com/databank/File:TX_IST_Chest_Armor.jpg
  17. I had it put in as an L1, but as you say its gone un-noticed and not commented on in the original discussion at any point, nor does the line//seam appear in any of the 3d model renders. Given its appearance as both a butt seam AND a topstich, Im inclned to allow both, even on the same vest.
  18. Same here ive been out a week plus. I have been blocked off of the JRS website for months , I know Tristan fixed the issue, but now Im blocked again . frustrating. Thanks for the breakdown, and not everyone has a JRS account. My ear cutouts on the o2 bayonet are cut different than my Laws TIE helmet. This trims almost all the plastic off. My laws had big gaps, there are no gaps on the Del helmet. [Note: the round raised area on the back of the APH helmet is where the grommet was where the comm wire exited the helmet. The comm cord is on the pilots right in the aircraft so it routes down there, so when you yanked the big black and yellow handle over your head (this was a US Navy A6 Intruder pilot helmet, so the E handle was overhead on top of your helmet) the cord yanked directly off as you ejected. Helicopters often cross, not the case here.]
  19. thanks Antonio!! And yes Del is not the easiest build. The parts are based on other parts but yeah, they are different. Even the end caps on the hose of the scout det are filled, unlike regular scouts and the greeblie is different than the regular scout greeblie. Ive not found a STL for that so Ill make mine in the time honored tradition. Im donating /giving up one of my black MP40 Sapper pouches for the Del built. The scout style belt is certainly different, its actually smaller, and the in game references differ on the location of the 8 rivets/ snaps/ silver domes.
  20. I have an older set of Jimi armor and it has the typical Jimi neck--broken. I read one of of the WIPs or one of the non-wips that someone had a printed neck piece, maybe in flexible TPU. This is the kind of thing a lot of of need since the neck ring is the weakest point of the entire rig, and Im more than willing to pay for files. My google-fu has failed me. Help me Detachment, you're my only hope.
  21. Good call Jarred thanks for posting that! Ill make that change. So, without rewriting all the text, a simple removal and change here and on the chest and back armor text will suffice: Chest Plate: Chest shall be painted gloss white to match helmet and back armor. Back Plate: Back plate is painted to match the chest, armor and helmet arms and shin armor.
  22. aha so thats something we would love your commentary on when we get to that part of the CRL were developing.
  23. its been a couple of days. Any input so we can move forward?
  24. same here and im waiting for files to become avaialbe. I never have luck wth Evike sales or finding broken airsofts at "less than new" prices.
  25. As with all things, some will model them over time while others will wait and release files after they feel they are correct. Im waiong on that best of a piece that Gharial carries to be able to be downloaded. I havent looked, but i know its a matter of time. I do know some people are modding MP40s. however as far as the standard blaster goes, we will dive into that in the CRL once we clear and lock all the other required components.
