  1. I always have those handing around, Ive used them over the years. The Strapworks price is great, cheaper than buying an old ALICE Harness to strip them off. It was over ten dollars for the cheapest Y strap I could find. Glad I had these already.
  2. Agreed. The current Crl says it would contain a unit motto or unit name etc.
  3. Thank you very much! thats much appreciated, and its going to help several people in the long run.
  4. In discussion with the others in my Garrison that want to do this, we want the tab to go over the patch. We can get tabs made from a dozen places online, in fifty different fonts, but none in Aurbesh. Im going to TRY to embroider them here on my wifes embroidery machine, but we have not had good luck with that in the past since it is not set up to do curved off-center text. I know Aurbesh is used on many of our Legion patches. Would it be prudent to set up a short run of patches with "sapper" or "Engineer" as a basic text ? Here's what I have in mind, incorrect color and language mind you: http://www.militaryc...&ad=76800669149 ===================================================================================== UPDATE 5/6 Here is where I got the font, this site has been useful for years http://davidocchino....y/aurebesh.html My wife has a home embroidery machine and uses a program she purchased online to lay out the designs , alter the stitch, tell the machine in what order to stitch..all VERY important to success. If you try this at home you want the machine to completely stitch the border first, go inside the border and start the text. She opened each characters properties, and rolled and adjusted each character to match the curve of the tab. This all took about three hours for the first successful tab to be created, but now she has the file and can adjust. Your tab will have your own unit motto or name, per the CRL. The first pic is of the first attempt, which was a complete failure. The machine didnt know to finish the tab border first, because she didnt know to tell it to do that. She had to figure that part out. Your machine and your program will be different, thats all I can say, because there are a bunch of programs out there. In these two photos you can see how she is altering the text with a character text box around one, moving, resizing and manipulating it to match the curve of the tab. My very first suit layout the day after I got it all together. The LMO had me remove the tab since its not seen on the characters with no helmets/packs.
  5. Looking through it again, i would like to propose a minor addition to the pioneer verbage . Having been both a GML and Costume Judge and written a bunch of CRLs and Standards, I think this would ward off some issues in future as this moves forward. Currently reads: Imperial Army Pioneer Configuration For 501st approval: Worn: Hat, Flightsuit + Patch, Harness, Belt, Belt Pouches, Boots, Black non-gauntlet gloves My proposal: Imperial Army Pioneer Configuration For 501st approval: Worn: Hat, Flightsuit + Patch , or Patch and Tab combination, Harness, Belt, Belt Pouches, Boots, Black non-gauntlet gloves Reasoning: Maintains Level 2 consistency between both verisons of the uniform with the same flight suit. Discussion: Lets face it, some GMLs are very by the book , or in this case CRL. By going Detachment Level 2 on the coverall for the Engineer with helmet (shown in the original art ) it can and likely will be argued by some GMLs that the tab would not be permitted on the Pioneer version when the photos are submitted to the GML for review. The inclusion of the tab as an option at the outset of the Pioneer allows a person to get that up and running first, while waiting on the more expensive helmet, which some people will not opt for. Most of us old timers have at least two black Officer hats, and with SewingJenny, WampaWear , RunyaJadje and other makers available at the time, the Pioneer is a quicker starting point. The caveat to this is if the art never depicts the soft cap NCOs/ Officers with tabs, which I would realistically find hard to understand from a real world experience perspective of having to earn those tabs early in their career.
  6. if it goes that way Ill use Shade 5 welding shield since I have got plenty of it laying about here. My Hoth goggles are Emgos and they have new lenses, I just traced the original clear lens and stuffed them in.
  7. One change that may need to be made to the supplier list would be the dick blick montana gold paint. The new CRL update says OD and the krylon camouflage line has an OD plus hobby shops will carry several olive drab sprays
  8. To my eye as a back in the day GML they sure look like the art.
  9. ill be watching with great interest! will the standard black flightsuit as seen in the photos be permittd, even at "base" level approval (not Lvl 2 or 3) or will any suit used be requied to have only those four pockets, ad none of the arm pockets?
  10. Niki is my sister by another mother. She put a 1 in front of my TKID. My hat is literally the prototype hat...with her knee replacement coming up soon and all the therapy to follow she wont be accepting new orders intil her knee is well enough to handle the incredibly.long hours she spends on her hats.
  11. Fortunately I do, we used to email back and forth daily when working on the hats that never came about and other uniform items. I really see a potential here for him to make what he wants, which of course is a profit. We have more than forty of his suits just in the Garrison here alone, so he has a good product.
  12. Sebastion you have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into this. I did the same when I was running the vendors for the JRS as the Resource Officer there some years back. This is a lot of work and I applaud your effrorts. On the FB page I mentioned I had a couple of coveralls in mind, I see that the Galls will fit my hide and the color is not terribly off OG 107 straight off the shelf when issued. Today I shot Azman a note since we worked so much together over the years creating the gloves, we worked a couple years on hats (that eventually fell through) and on updating his suits to what he offers now. Having the links is great. I know the goggles will fit my glasses ( i wear the same thing with my BSG knuclkedragger) and shade 5 welding sheild will work fine. Now its just down to getting paid, and ordering parts.
