  1. Welcome to the Spec Ops site John. Good to see you over here too! Here are a few links to get you going -- The Spec Ops Shadow Scout/Storm Commando Costume Reference Library (CRL): http://www.501st.com...TX_shadow_scout I'm currently buildling one, so here's my WIP: http://forum.501stsp...__fromsearch__1
  2. Uh...no. But those guys are cool, really old now, but cool.
  3. I played in a band once that opened for them in 1995. Good times...
  4. Awesome news and find. Post pics when you get 'em done!
  5. 7. Next, I worked on the chest/back and tank. The tank was already attached, so I just worked on the black webbing connections and attaching the tank topper. I still need to cover the chest/back joins with 2" cotton webbing, add the tank stripes, and finalize the fit.
  6. 6. Also worked on the belt, drop boxes, and black cotton webbing. I use the "drill and cut" method for making the webbing slots.
  7. 5. Worked on the TD today, made some clips, attached the back plate, etc. I should have my TD greeblies from DJ sometime next week.
  8. If you do a search on "jodphur boots" or "chelsea boots" you'll find quite a few options. I found mine on eBay for around $50, and in my size (10.5). They are screen accurate, black jodphur boots similar to what was painted white and used in ANH. Also, not sure what size you wear but "ladies" boots work too. http://www.equinenow.com/store-item-31042 http://www.equestriancollections.com/product.asp?groupcode=SB00211&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_source=Shareasale&utm_campaign=SB00211 http://www.equestriancollections.com/product.asp?groupcode=SB00217&utm_medium=Channel&utm_campaign=SB00217&utm_source=googleshopping&CAWELAID=1619719433&cagpspn=pla&gclid=CNnuoZ-JlrYCFTORPAodHF4ArA
  9. I agree with Toddo...the boots are not going to work. Good color but those boots will not pass.
  10. Boots looks pretty good...and that is some shiny armor!
  11. Next... 3. Painted the TD tubing and glued the end caps in place. 4. Sanded the SC helmet seam in the back; will end up painting the bucket gloss black. That's coming next... I've also received my cotton webbing and have my TD bits on order through DJ. My decals are on the way from TB, so I'll be working on the belt assembly this weekend. It's raining now so no painting today...
  12. Okay, okay...you got me Chef. It's been a bit slow going since I have a dislocated L shoulder at the moment. But, here's where I am at: 1. Replaced the SC snout with a DJ snout and built a riser plate. 2. Glued the belt parts in place.
  13. BTW...here's the link I found. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/35MM-Black-Knitting-Elastic-Tape-Elastic-Stretch-Webbing-50-Meters-Roll-for-wholesale-and-retail/656705849.html
  14. Right?! It's a funky size but you'd think it would be available in most stores. Not so much...
  15. Will do...I've found a few places that sell 3.5 CM elastic, but they are in China and require a bulk purchase, like 10 yards or more. Yikes. Maybe I could buy up a role of this and make it available to BSN and Spec Ops scouts?!
  16. I just got my webbing from Jontay.com (black cotton in 2" for the belt and 1.5" for the belt boxes). Pretty much following how I put my biker scout together but doing things a bit better with this one. I've also replaced the snout with an accurate DJ snout and built a riser plate. I'll post up some pics this weekend.
  17. You're doing a fine job Craig. Btw...I've bumped up your profile since you're a 501st member.
  18. Very nice work Drew~!
  19. Ah thanks guys, been a long time in the works. Todd...I hope I can come close to yours man.
  20. Well, thanks to an awesome hookup from Izzi, I'm starting my Shadow Scout. The "big brown box" arrived today, so let the fun begin! This thread will log my work in progress on this new costume.
  21. Very fine work Derek, you have some great painting knowledge and skills.
