  1. I'd imagine if we stick with the wording as "may" rather than "must" it can fit where you all as staff deem it appropriate; since the way it is worded is more of a guidance line item rather than a requirement... I can see it in L1 or L2, but if you think it makes most sense in L2, I'd say go for what you feel is right.
  2. Thanks for the photos. Yea, if you really zoom in on them, you can see it here and there. So seems worth including the "may have" language, at least in my opinion. Still interested in hearing from @fb501. Thoughts on the revised text from above @Blackwatch?
  3. Two schools of thought: do we state as it 'may' be present or do we not include it in the helmet writeup since it isnt a requirement? Have we specifically seen the texture on any of the troopers in Aldhani? I do want to lean on @fb501 's on-set experience as a background performer. He also had a helmet on, he would know. 😂 If we feel it's warranted to be included in the helmet portion of the writeup, then only a slight modification of @Blackwatch's original text should be needed. Something like: The helmet's outer surface may have a mild "orange peel" effect from paint stippling. If present, it shall not be overly done. A smooth outer surface is also acceptable.
  4. Oh yea, you're right with the shot order. I don't know where my brain is today. That being said, maybe since there weren't many with helmets on in the Aldhani scenes perhaps they picked the best looking ones that remained undamaged from the Ferrix scene or perhaps they had to make all new ones.
  5. Grabbing a still digitally rather than a photo of the television seems like a safer approach for the subtle details. Even looking at this photo, I really don't see the texture as described above. Also keep in mind that if they re-painted the helmets from greenblack (Aldhani) to black for Ferrix, they may have rushed when re-painting them (possibly in not ideal ambient temperatures / direct sunlight) leading to that slight orange peel effect on Ferrix. It also makes me wonder if they were brush painted for Ferrix depending on the helmet. In the Ferrix scenes, some select helmets do appear to have a texture present.... however... Someone previously mentioned that it's important for us to focus on the Aldhani scenes for this specific CRL rather than both Aldhani and Ferrix. I was also guilty of providing examples of both in my prior discussions. For the Aldhani version of the helmet I struggle to see the texture.
  6. Give us a shout when you have these in resin form. I'd be interested in purchasing them unpainted (saves you a bit of time).
  7. I have some photos submitted to @Blackwatch and I think @sonfieldhad some submitted as well. Mine without the rank on the shoulderbell and @sonfieldhas his with it. We'll need someone willing to suit up with the helmet and one with all soft parts only. Here's the album, I have it set for view for anyone who has the link (parts already pre-photoshopped with transparency -- armor color is the SW6994 custom ordered spray paint) : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1rCI9_phNdunZo9prwVgo3kVRJm7bERgx?usp=share_link My Full Suit up (no rank on shoulder): https://imgur.com/a/CxmbHjQ --- Lighting is a tad hard with the florescent, can retake them if needed. Detail photos that were requested by @Blackwatch: Justin's post of photos: Justin suited up (rank on shoulder) Who has a helmet?
  8. The Imperial Surplus collar is made out of a flexible material which makes it easy to get in and out. I can't imagine the difficulty if it was not flexible.
  9. Here's my initial video discussing strapping:
  10. Here are some additional detail shots. For the placement of the hose connectors, there is a template that Kevin (Imperial Surplus) gives you if you buy his kit. If you need additional shots let me know. Just realized the armor has some slight dust on it from laying in our utility space air drying from clear coat and touch ups. If you need the original source images shared on a Google Drive, let me know... otherwise I'll upload them to imgur for easier delivery.
  11. No problem. I will take a bunch of detail photos for you this afternoon/evening and post up here.
  12. Here's the album, I have it set for view for anyone who has the link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1rCI9_phNdunZo9prwVgo3kVRJm7bERgx?usp=share_link for individual armor components. Worth getting belt from @fb501since he has screen-used belt boxes, but I have images in there for you for now. Here are my initial full suit up, if you want to consider these for CRL images. All meets L2 except for the recent updates to the beltboxes being smaller than non-saga. I've flat clear coated everything which reduced more of the shine...these photos are pre-clear coat. https://imgur.com/a/CxmbHjQ With regards to weapons, I'll defer to other builders. I do not plan on building any weapons.
  13. It's a combination of vac-formed ABS and Resin cast parts. The strapping and collar are a firm but flexible rubber material. It's just as sturdy as other ABS kits. I do not know the exact thickness of the sheets Kevin uses. You'd have to contact him on his Imperial Surplus website.
  14. Sounds good; just wanted to seek clarification on the plan. Just for the record, the smaller box info was originally provided by @fb501, I do not want to take any credit there; I was just organizing the info from previous convos on this thread and don't want anything to get lost in the fray. Hopefully folks are willing to provide print files for these different belt boxes.
  15. Just for clarification, is the plan to fully enforce the smaller size 8mm x 5mm reduction for L2 and not allow for a range up to the R1/Mando/Obi/Solo (non-saga) option at that L2 option? Should we not provide a range or is the preference the exact size down to the mm? The way it is now written, it must be the exact mm of the smaller than non-saga boxes. Is that what is desired from detachment staff?
  16. This question is best answered by Detachment staff, but from reviewing the other CRLs and costume level structure of the detachment, they do not have a L3 program at the moment and one would assume that anything approved by the detachment at L2 would be considered part of Specialist program unless they reserve that specific title for specific costumes. From above discussions noted by @Blackwatch, he will be placing all the L3 text into L2 for the blaster. The original writeup was from another existing writeup, so please ignore the L3 component. This sparks a question that I have for detachment staff; are members who are applying for L2 required to have a blaster? I know some detachments require specific combinations that include weapons and other do not. I'm hoping we do not have to have a weapon to achieve level 2.
  17. It's denim, so it's heavier than a traditional cotton shirts. It seems to breathe well. I haven't trooped in it yet, so time will tell... I do not need to wear an additional belt to hold up my trousers even though the ImperialBoots trousers do have belt loops in case people need it.
  18. It's comfortable to wear and its about as tedious to lock yourself in as a tank trooper... or anything with that collar style. I will do a video of the strapping system and discuss some modifications that I'll likely change to make it more comfortable to troop in. The straps do hold everything together for the upper portion of the back and front. I do have velcro on the lower portion to keep the bottom of the chest and backplate flush with one another.
  19. Here's some different lighting that isn't as harsh... I still think it will look even better in natural light...
  20. Likely the lighting, this is the low luster option, so the shine is low. Lower than Satin, Semi-Gloss, and Gloss. 🤷‍♂️ I'm going to be spraying everything down with a flat clear coat to protect everything. That may also dull things more. I was standing under direct ceiling lighting, not the best lighting to compare to the natural light scenes throughout the episode. Some of the indoor lighting has an extremely similar effect to the reflection:
  21. Didn't do any photoshopping to remove backgrounds yet, in case we want to use them for the CRL; I don't want to get too ahead of myself without getting some initial feedback... I've lost the tunic hooks in my frantic migration of costumes to another room where our flood damage didn't occur... I will eventually find them and add them to this costume, but since they are not required, I'm not beating myself up about it. I'm a fairly thin guy, so I had to make some modifications to the stock Imperial Surplus shoulder straps, simply trimming down the rear of the straps to reduce the overall length so that they didn't bulge upwards above the armor... it was significant for me initially... I still have plans to use a flat clear coat on all of the armor to keep the SW6994 paint from chipping away. I started having minor chipping during suit-up where the tops of the biceps were rubbing the bottoms of the shoulder bells, thankfully not noticeable in these photos but when suiting down notice some minor scuffing. Going to be cleaning those up the next day it isn't slated to rain... My front belt buckle is a tad crooked in these shots if you want to get picky... I noticed it after my wife was done taking photos. Here's how things turned out, had take these in the basement with ceiling lighting; I'd prefer to take some outside with natural light at some point. Full Album: https://imgur.com/a/CxmbHjQ
  22. From the earlier discussion... R1/Mando/Solo/Obi: 75mm tall, 50mm wide and 25mm deep Andor: 67mm tall, 45mm wide and 25mm deep The difference being 8mm X 5mm. Would we want to enforce that small of a difference for L2, making everyone get unique belt boxes that are less than 1cm on each side compared to the HD era films/shows (R1/Mando/Solo/Obi)? I'm curious if the belt boxes are the same for the background performers and the main cast? They are likely the same... For CRL photo purposes, it would be wise for @fb501to provide photos since his are screen used, but I personally don't feel strongly that the CRL should be updated to strictly enforce for the belt boxes to be reduced by 8mm X 5mm unless the detachment would consider a L3 tier. If no L3 program exists, it would be worth updating the description to at least include the range of the unique size that @fb501listed up to the maximum of the HD era films/shows. I'm not opposed to the idea and am okay with it for the pure sake of on-screen accuracy, if that's where Detachment staff wishes to take it. If the Detachment staff doesn't have an L3 program that adds a lot of overhead... so at the end of the day up to them. Is 8mm X 5mm noticeable visually compared to the other boxes from talking distance (6-ish feet)?
  23. @Blackwatch -- I've taken photos of the various components of my kit and photoshopped out the backgrounds. I did not do my boots as they are currently buried in a sea of costumes in our guestroom due to home repairs from the pipe burst back in Dec... I plan on digging those out tomorrow and fully suiting up in the evening, assuming I can get my wife to take photos. We will still need photos of the helmet/goggles once someone completes those and the rank-bar shoulder bell; perhaps we can use Justin's that he recently posted... And of course the weapons and other optional accessories. Here's the album, I have it set for view for anyone who has the link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1rCI9_phNdunZo9prwVgo3kVRJm7bERgx?usp=share_link If you or any other Detachment staff need any revisions to these photos, feel free to let me know. We'll definitely need others contributions to fully flesh out the different variations to this one. Quick clarification point. I added an additional backplate photo with transparent grills. I have mine cut out to provide shadow/darkness depth when wearing it similar to my tanktrooper. When using a white sheet to take photos, you can see the white coloration between the grill gaps. So use whichever you feel is best.
  24. Cleaned up the edges of the backplate back panels. In the show, the edges are not perfectly square and they need to stay below the highest recess. This looks much better than earlier... Got the other silver details painted. Chest plate greeblies now painted. Silver and Humbrol #19 red. Time to finish up strapping and snapping. Feeling that finishline.
  25. As mentioned in my previous post I have some detail painting I need to do to greeblies, get certain components back to silver, I'm extremely happy with this color. This is what was used: https://www.myperfectcolor.com/paint/26911-sherwin-williams-sw6994-greenblack
