Darman
Hi, No update on the CRL (on 501st website) about the pauldron, chest rig, grenade, etc ? Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
The specialist version was just waiting on photos. We now have them as of yesterday, so just need to do the write up. If referring to level 2 stuff, that will go into the spec ops specialist section. 1 Link to comment
nanotek[CMD-DWM]
So for Specialist the requirement for the boots is that they HAVE to be the Dr Martens "Jered"? To me it's a little unclear as it is being referred to as a "base" in that something I could base the shoe off? Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
So. The term specialist gets a little confusing. Are you referring to the specialist variant of the costume or level 2 requirements which are not fully defined at this point? Link to comment
nanotek[CMD-DWM]
Yeah. L2 clearance - although I would assume level 2 is a baseline for specialist as well? When I get to building this costume I would like to aim as high as possible. So if having original Dr Martens Jared boots is a prerequisite- I would like to start the nigh on impossible search for them. I think the only possible way to get them now is through second hand! Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
Got it. Definitely get the Jared's. That, or an exact match will be an LET requirement, what we call specialist...Hence the confusion. Link to comment
nanotek[CMD-DWM]
Roger roger. Thanks for the clarification. I am picking that I will either have to find an original pair, or use a Dr Martens base equivalent with some leather work done by a cobbler Link to comment
Darth Emphatic[CMD-DWM]
Ya, that sounds like a good plan. Link to comment

Woodo007[TX]
Mark I started to think Jereds would be impossible, but lucked out on ebay. I had a search notification saved with ebay so if any auctions started with "Dr Marten Jered" came up I got an email. I got my pair this way. Link to comment

I have also contacted Dr Martens. Gone through their end of run suppliers/discount warehouse partners. Extensive Google searching. Social Media reach and even visited vintage clothing and secondhand clothing/shoe shops. Not even close to finding a pair. At this stage I reckon the best bet is to find a similar base boot and have it altered. Still crossing my fingers and toes though Link to comment

Still crossing my fingers and toes though did u see what imperial boots are offering? They have made a jered style boot. Looks very similar. What size are you? I still have my search set up so if any appears I will let u know Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Link to comment
nanotek[CMD-DWM]
Hah I forgot about imperial boots. I wouldn't mind the docs because I know they are hard wearing and comfortable. I don't know much about quality of Imperial Boots Thanks for the support too! 1 Link to comment
rogerwyatt[501st]
I picked up Dr. Marten Talib boots. They need to have the lace covers attached, but other than that they are a match. 1 Link to comment
Chaos[CMD-DCA]
Soooo how many are following the poop storm about the CRL and 15 verses 16 cogs over on the FB DT Builder's page? Link to comment
nanotek[CMD-DWM]
Not really a poop storm. Great discussion IMO. All perspectives need to be considered. 1 Link to comment
feliz[TX]
I certainly am. It's an issue which should certainly be seriously discussed. Given the amount of people it could potentially effect and money which could be involved for people, it's important to look into. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Link to comment

feliz[TX]
I believe it's certainly an issue which should be addressed. Keeping in mind many appreciate the work which went into the CRL, we also really understand the need to have a less restrictive base CRL. The idea behind this is that it benefits all who want to be a part of this particular costume, not just the perfectionist but also the less picky who still want a great, accurate costume but do not either want or have the ability to get it right down the the mm in each rib or count or slots in a back piece cog or lines in the sole of a shoe. Being less restrictive retains the fun for all but still keeps the basic shape and accuracy of the suit for all. And in the end, that's all we are all here for is fun, to troop together , celebrate Star Wars and give back to those in need. So let's not take that opportunity away from people. feliz[TX]
It looks like it has! Great news! Truly great news! Many thanks so those involved and more importantly, leadership for being open to everyone's concerns. This says volumes about your willingness to work with members and be open to all who want to be involved with the organization! Kudos to you! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Link to comment
