New CRL Proposal - Lieutenant Janek Sunber (SW:E)

Recommended Posts

blousing a jackboot to just above half its height will work, i just prefer to have the actual commuter boot.  We still have Jacks for the Engineer and the Imperial Army trooper for basic approval..however it is my commited belief that since Lt Sunber is in an all green uniform as an Army officer, his boots are green as well, which brings us to the green paint used on the Commuters.
We can say only one thing about the Lt's boots--they are dirty!   In keeping with best practice, allow the jackboot for l1 approval, bloused down to no lower than 8" of the shaft showing.  Rebel pilots do this all the time if they happen to own taller motorcylce style boots, often using "blousing rubbers".    I would strongly support Green Commuters for L2 and specialist.  This keeps Lt. Sunber  aligned with  the IAT.
Would be great to keep the jack option for level 1. Would honestly keep me "in the game" with this costume if that's the case.

The commuter boots I've found here are just horrible quality lol. Bend a certain way they rip.

Engineer and IAT have them so would be great to keep them for Officer.

I think that's acceptable if the look is achieved for Level 1 so long as it's worded into the boot requirements as to how that look should be achieved.

Would we then want to make commuter a Level 2 requirement OR is the consensus that based on the references it could be either commuter or a bloused jack?

Ok, so lets look at rewording this, keeping jacks for an L1 and commuters for an L2.

Additions in cyan and removals in red strikethrough.

L2 requirements are a direct copy of the Sapper boot requirements. L1 requirements are shared from the Army Trooper using its verbage.

I propose black OR green since I believe the intent of the all green uniform is to maintan consistency extending to the boots.

I also added weathering option to both since we cannot tell for certain what color they are because of all the mud.

PROPOSED CHANGE:

Boots

For 501st approval:

  • Mid- Calf high black or olive green leather or leather like material.
  • Jackboot or similar style.
  • Free of laces, decorative stitching, buckles on the instep or any other embellishments.
  • Boots may have a single adjustment strap at the top outside of the boot, with the buckle no wider than 1". This need not be functional
  • Zippers on the inside of the boot are acceptable, so long as they are concealed.
    • If the zipper is not covered by vinyl/ leather, it is painted to match the boot.
  • Trouser leg shall be "bloused" down over boot shaft to show no more than 9" (23cm) of the boot.
  • Tread on the soles and heel are acceptable.
  • Weathering on boots is acceptable.

For level 2 certification (if applicable)

  • "Commuter" style boot 8-9" (20-23cm) in height.
  • Calf high boots such as "jackboots" or "kersey" style are not acceptable.
  • Black leather or leather like material.
  • Free of laces, decorative stitching, buckles or any other embellishments.
  • Normal leather grain/texture/lines are acceptable.
  • Tread on the soles and heels is acceptable
  • Zippers on the inside of the boot are acceptable, so long as they are concealed. If not covered by leather or vinyl, zippers are painted black.
  • Weathering on boots is acceptable.

@Blackwatch I would adjust L1 to say jackboot and commuter.

Then, the "bloused" line you can add "If using jackboot" or some verbiage such as that as, correct me if I'm wrong, a commuter boot would not require blousing right?

Raider,

For the pouch specifics here you go:

2 rectangular pouches with a top flap, and strap from top to bottom securing it shut, sit to the right of the belt buckle where the harness meets the belt: Condor 191044 or MA15

A gas-mask style pouch sits on the right of the above pouches: Condor MA2
* This is a close match due to the actual gas mask pouch is a vertical mount/opening

A tactical triple AK magazine PALS belt pouch should be on the rear of the belt: Condor MA33

An electrobinoculars pouch sits on the left of the belt buckle where the harness meets the belt: Condor 191064 or MA8.
*The actual bino pouch(191064)  is 6" high while the utility pouch (MA8 ) is 4.5" high but would require removal of the molle/pals on the front of the pouch.

2 rectangular pouches with a top flap, and strap from top to bottom securing it shut, sit to the left of the electrobinoculars pouch: Condor 191044 or MA15

Hey guys.  Sorry I mentioned blousing and disappeared.  Unfortunately "real life" stuff has kept me off forums.

I'm still watching this with interest ( although I will likely do a level 1 version after CRL approved) and have a bunch of Janek items to ultimately convert my IAT.

So for blousing it was really simple.  In the army we used these small twisted olive fabric elasticized ties (ends link up with 2 hooks) that we would tie around top of boot and roll up the excess leg fabric / tuck up underneath the elastic strap.

What I've done with my current IAT suit which I find helpful us sew a thick elastic cuff at the bunched bottom of my flightsuit legs.

If you tuck the elastic cuff up beneath the legs it also achieves the blousing effect.  I'll post some pics later.

Cool.  Yea, the approval of the blousing isn't so much a concern...that's a go.  Within the CRL, we have the ability to embed links that direct back to the forums for particular pieces/techniques.  I'm not military...and so for me (and probably most people), "blousing" is a foreign term.  The idea is to embed a link in the CRL that has a small tutorial (I'd prefer our own supplied) w/ pictures and text description hosted here on the forums that the CRL points back to.

If you'd like to create a detailed tutorial for blousing and how to achieve that look, that would be great!

I could get it done in a week or two based on what I have already.  Pretty much have everything ... lol I’d even shave my beard.

Sticking point still is fact I only intend to do Level 1 for it.  Not overly keen on the olive boots, glove squares or the electrobinos.   (Still a little confused about what type of EB pouch will be approvable if no EB present).

If time does become an issue I can move forward with the Lv1 version.  Just let me know

Since this is for a CRL model, the Level 2 would be preferred to show that option.  But Im not saying that level 1 would be rejected by the LMO for a CRL model.

would you be ok if i allowed someone else to step up and finish this up for a model?  possibly @Barons_Crown?

Level 1 would be acceptable.  If @pm07 has no major issue, I would like to move this forward.

Let us move ahead, I would really like to see the Leadership Corps move ahead for the Army, and this will be the frontline of it.
