That was going to be my suggestion as well. Use spare abs from the armor, make a paste using abs glue, apply it to the crack as a fill (especially on the back side). Refinish the front. Then hope and pray.
With leather, i would get it wet, curve it over some cylindrical, and strap it down for 24 hours. You could still do steps 2 and 3, just make sure the item you are curving itvover is big enough, you dont want it curving over itself.
Wow, how think is that pull? You could consider coating the inside with a primer or red paint. Id test it with a spare piece first, but it should do the trick.
