  1. Small update today, i made my Inferno patches. I used twill cut from an old pair of coveralls, vertically oriented the weave, cut my patch logos from a pattern I bought on Etsy and ironed them to the twill. I doubled up on the twill, so there is a double layer giving it some thickness.
  2. talk to Jim Tripon. Im super happy with mine. it will almost stand up on its own. The way the CRL is written (and currently under rewrite) is to have the canvas heavy and structured. The Tripon suit is both.
  3. ive just had another thought, something to consider. There is a leather or leather-like waist strap (approximately 1" or 25mm wide) present at the back of the tactical vest, and it is attached to the vest with one quick release buckle on the right or left side of the vest at the wearer's option. This quick release buckle is hidden under the scout pouch, and is not seen when worn. A single adjusting tri-glide is centered on the back waist strap. L2 option: The back waist strap has a single quick release buckle mounted to the right side of the vest using a strap that is approximately 1" (25mm) wide. We lose a line of text, and the wearer still gets the option.
  4. looks like we got in the forum at the same time. This is where I really think we CAN make this more accessible. L2 should be harder. and Del isnt easy to begin with. But even when I was between Anton and Maxime there were times I really was trying to get them to ratchet it back since they were demanding that the whole thing be 3d printed as small as possible. Thats not practical, at least not in South Louisiana heat. I know its a lot and I hope for anyone reading this, it makes more sense. The intent is to make it easier to approve, not make it harder than it already is. Are we looking for a specific wedge shape for the pillow block? To me it just looksl ike a pad / pillow thats squished by the strap. Ive had a running convesation with Duckie on her size and her build, and she has had to cut literally everything down to fit her frame. This is the proportion argment I have made for years. Im totally behind writing it to be proportional to actualy FIT you even if you are smaller stature. Yes, Del is intimidating. Looking at the FOTK vest ts literally a dozen lines. We CAN simplify to that level and put the details into L2. Many of us will build to the L2 standard to begin with, while others can get an L1 and be very happy with their kit.
  5. WW is quite soft. It scrunchs badly when worn, and it has an elastic wasitband. The scrunching in back becomes VERY evident, which is not seen in any Del reference images. For comparison, I just saw my first ever Crow flightsuit last weekend. His pockets are WEIRD!!!! I cannot speak to how accurate his Del build is, having not seen one. This was just a regular black TIE suit for a really tall guy, and it wound up quite short on him despite custom measurements.
  6. given that the wampa wear is "soft" "light" and has a waistband that scrunches up the back pretty badly, I would advise against for a Del build. I went to Jim Tripon and got his heaviest canvas, and I had him make it with no elastic waistband in the back. Im happy with it, and considering that Im currently re-writing the CRL, we want a suit that is structured and not soft because Im goign for L2 approval. I have the WW suit here in my Garrison with our Iden, yes its canvas, but its quite soft and the scrunching in back is very plain. There is no scrunching on Del in any of the reference images. here is my Tripon suit.
  7. Full reference image library Here is where I would prefer to make some changes. I've read this ten dozen times over the last few weeks and now I see glaring issues. Im removing redundancy that I saw, fixing typos, clarifying and hopefully making this easier to read and understand. This will be the biggest change overall of the CRL. Looking at our references, the three M16/M14 pouches drop below the bottom edge of the vest. its hard to see in the model, but its visible in the images. It drops about an inch, maybe less. I want to add clarifying language to the straps as well. On this page Arielly compared in-game texures. Canvas and twill / fabric were compared. I believe the pouches are canvas as is the vest itself. I do not see the tight cordura nylon . I suspect that is a holdover from the fact we were using/ accepting Flyye vests to begin with, which are wrong. Im proposing altering the language to include heavy black canvas. The texture of the vest, pouches, filler (with strips attached) and shooters pillowblock under the elastic strap all match. Anton even made the point that with vest, its pouches and fillers were all canvas. Now I am trying to even figure out WHY we retained cordura nylon as the base, when we got rid of ripstop nylon. Now we can recify that. I feel we can keep it if makers are going to continue to use it, but the for L2 we need to be using canvas, HEAVY canvas, not lightwieght stuff. Also im debating the strips configuration. Jim Tripon makes his vests with a single long strip across the top. The strip is not seen because its behind the filler block, but the bottom edge of his pouch is above the bottom edge of the vest. We know the bottom edge of the pouches fall below the vest. Some of the ref images indicate the inner edge of the strips go behind the pouches. Im fine with that, or with them being clearly visible. I just want some level of consistency, as a single long strip at the top would give us 13 webbing strips, not 14. as always healthy discussion of this is welcome! Tactical Vest The tactical vest is made of Cordura nylon and its pouches are made of black fabric similar to the flight suit material. Heavy black canvas is recommended. All straps are black webbing. Nylon or cotton webbing is acceptable. There are a total of fourteen 1" (25mm) wide straps sewn to the tactical vest, with four laying horizontally on either side of the pouches, and two at the front of each pouch. Straps are sewn to match reference images. There are three M4 / M16 magazine pouches, with each filled by a rectangular package covered in the same fabric as the tactical vest. The packages fill the pouches completely, and extend above the pouch. Each packages has a plastic strip mounted at top facing forward. Strip size is 5/32" x 1/2" x 2.63" (4mm x 12mm x 68mm). There is a black canvas-covered block on the right side of the vest matching references, with a 1" (25mm) wide strip of elastic or webbing mounted to the vest, going across the front of the block. The magazine pouches may drop up to one inch below the bottom of the vest matching reference images. The main shoulder straps consist of ribbed leather or leather-like material which cross at the back and attach to the top edge of the vest in the back. The front portion of the ribbed shoulder straps measure 1.38" (35mm). The front shoulder straps may be made of 3 stacked leather or leather-like strips, or may be grooved to simulate this. Stitching is permitted as long as the stitches are small and do not detract from the overall apperance. The front shoulder strap buckles are mounted to the vest tri-glide buckles. The front shoulder straps mount to the vest with triglide buckles. Vest-front tri-glides are attached to the vest with 1.37" x 1.37" (35mm x 35mm) loops. There is an approximately 1.5" x 1" (38mm x 25mm) specific buckle greeblie mounted above the tri-glide buckles on each side matching reference images. Several inches above the top of the greeblie there is a 1" (25mm) horizontal loop mounted to each shoulder strap. The loop is leather or leather-like and is aligned right to left. See Reference Images and the Costume Gallery for correct placement. The quick release buckles on the back of the vest are attached by 1" (25mm) loops. black leather or leather-like strips. The shoulder straps cross near the top of the back armor box. Each shoulder strap has a tri-glide that the end of each strap feeds into, near the back armor box shape. These leather or leather-like straps feed into 1" (25mm) side release buckles which continue on to the top edge of the vest. See costume guide gallery for placement. There is a 1" (25mm) leather or leather-like waist strap present at the back of the tactical vest, and it is attached to the vest with one quick release buckle on the right or left side of the vest at the wearers option. This quick release buckle is hidden under the scout pouch, and is not seen when worn. A single adjusting tri-glide is centered on the back waist strap. The Flyye tactical vest is not accurate and should be avoided. will not be approved for use. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): The vest is fitted proportional to the wearer. All vest shoulder and waist straps are made of black leather. Vest front tri-glides are specific to the games 3D model, and are attached to the vest with 1.37" x 1.37" (35mm x 35mm) leather loops. Game-specific 3D model buckle style greeblies are attached to the leather shoulder straps above the tri-glides. See reference images and the Costume Gallery for placement. Front shoulder straps which go over the shoulder and continue to the back are made of 3 layers of ribbed/ grooved leather strips which are glued/sewed/bonded together. The first (bottom) layer is 1.37" (35mm) with the middle layer added to that. The middle layer shall be 1" (25mm) wide. The final layer is centered on top of the first two layers, and is 9/16" (15mm) wide. The three bonded strips run the length of the forward portion of the shoulder strap assembly. The grooved part of the leather shoulder straps stop just past the wearers shoulders, and continues on as a single 1" (25mm) black leather strap, passing through tri-glides and into specific quick side release buckles, which are held to the vest with 1" (25mm) black leather loops. strips. See Reference Images and the Costume Gallery for placement and construction. The three magazine pouches fall below the bottom edge of the vest. The top of the pouch is in line with the bottom edge of the upper nylon webbing strap. The quick-release buckles on the back of the vest, which hold the shoulder straps, are attached by 1" (25 mm) black leather loops. The back waist strap has a single quick release buckle mounted to the right side of the vest using 1" (25mm) black leather loop. This buckle is hidden under the scout style pouch and is not seen when worn.
  8. rom my experence with Walt sometimes parts get mixed up when he packs
  9. after just having a talk with Duckie and her fit issues I support this as well, since we're all different sizes. I have adjusted my local Iden's armor to fit her better, the shoulder straps are rediculoulsly long and pushing the armor off of her chest and back. I literally cut parts off and modified it to fit inside the wedges with magnets ok so lets have a look at this. it only modifies the L2 part: Armor Armor consists of front and back pieces connected by shoulder bridges anchored by wedge connectors. Armor is glossy black. Chest and back plate meet flush at the sides under the arms. This is done with a third plate that bridges the gap between the front and back armor parts. Molded black, ribbed, rubber shoulder bridges are acceptable. Back plate contains detailed "O II" design. The top of the back plate box may feature a trapezoid shaped depression 4" x 5" (101mm x 127mm) at the top of the box. There is a 5/16" (8mm) circular depression below the right shoulder strap connector on the back plate. Armor may be lightly stained or weathered. Silver is not permitted. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Made from the game's with reference to the game's 3D model and scaled to the wearer. Armor scaling and strapping must fit the wearer accurately. "O II" design shall have 16 points on the "O" design and "II" bars shall have 5 indented slot depressions at the bottom of each bar matching references. Trapezoid shaped depression at the top of the box shall match game refences for size, shape and location. Any visible staining or weathering must be light. Silver is not permitted.
  10. Nichole im answering your PM as well, and addressing your concerns there. Trust me- i get it!
  11. hello and welcome, glad to have you with us here
  12. i look at STLs often for a lot of things and I have not run across that.
  13. Our next topic is the glove itself. The glove was well researched to begin with, and I propose no changes. Gauntlet Gloves Black, leather or leather-like material, enclosed fingered, non-textured, (normal leather grain/texture/lines are acceptable) fitted gauntlet style. No buckles, straps, or decorative stitching. There is a split on the bottom gauntlet portion that runs from the glove opening to the wrist that is bridged with leather or leather-like material. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Gloves are made of leather.
  14. its been several days and we seem to be in agreement. Lets clear and lock the commpad with regular TIE pad for L1 and the Inferno specific pad for L2.
  15. next item: Commpad. We know this is a different pad, its not the typical pad we used for years however we DO allow the standard TIE pad for level 1 approval. Are there any recommendations for changes here? Compad Rectangular communications pad with patterned painted details matching reference photo. Compad is worn with the four large, rectangular buttons pointing towards the wearer’s elbow. Compad is rectangular in shape and fits within the compad pocket window. Details of the compad differ from the standard TIE Pilot compad. Black buttons are smaller than the red and white buttons; the white button located adjacent to the button with multiple dimples may be a single piece, instead of split in two segments. Compad base color is silver, metallic grey, or weathered silver. Compad size is 2.5" x 2" (63.5mm x 50mm). Compad is fully visible above the glove, facing outward on the arm. For basic approval (Level 1) a standard TIE pilot style compad painted and worn to match game references may be accepted for use. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Compad shall be Inferno Squad style with correct button sizes, layout and colors. Two black buttons at the top of the pad are smaller than the white and red buttons. The white button adjacent to the button with holes/dimples is not split. Compad is moderately weathered / stained.
  16. Since there is no futher discussion or input im going to lock the fabric discussion for the suit and post it to the finalized text topic.
  17. i got hard drive magnets to use on mine. ive been using typical nDb magnets for years but hard drive magets are shockingly strong. I like Daniels block of wood idea. Ive yet to sort that outmyself, im not QUITE there yet, i have the parts and the magnets but havent had a chance to work on it.
  18. check the ref pics. trim slowly, tape and check fit as you go. make it match the references as closely as you can.
  19. Thanks Matt thas my plan .to make it removeable. my Visitor rifle got rebuilt before I took it out for Patrol the first time and I make sure that scope came off. it wont fit in my gun case otherwise.
  20. Returning to the helmet proposal above, is there any further discussion on it? I would like to lock this and move on if there is no further discussion.
  21. i said bolt it, orderd new stuff and ive already got the webbing sewed on, leather inhand, and im making the pouches tomorrow.
  22. agree. This is a small scale figure with very few real details present. I see this as a departure from Del, or a stepping stone TO Del.
  23. I can certainly see the reasoning behind this. apparently there is/was one vendor for the aluminum parts. I have messaged this vendor, but as we know single source vendors have real lives and things happen. I do appreciate how the change in text refers to alumimum being ACCEPTABLE but not Required. I could resin print the parts and paint them in the typical scale plastic model buiildng Natural Metal Finish process which is a form of metal effect. its a lot of work but will appear metallic, much more so than just paint. edit--someting just occurred to me My suit came with velcro to mount the patches, which are vinyl and vinyl patches are a known issue to peel. Will velcro be disallowed for L1 or L2? I dont want to write verbiage that velcro IS allowed, like we see on military uniforms, but I want to clarify if it will not be cleared for L2.
  24. it looks like the text on that pocket is universal and part of the wiki. Maybe with the new changes to format we can get that fixed. It used to say forms a broader upslope. Wich wasnt mjch better. how about "clopped off at a 45 degree angle".
  25. it may be something we misinterpreted looking at screenshots. We partly used the shore as a basis since parts are the same.
