Welcome to Spec Ops! Go with ANH for the base armor and helmet. As for the adjustable shim on the ab/kidney joint, I think it's a great idea. Just make sure that your strapping variation isn't visible from the outside.

The good work continues.

Yeah, take the weird things out of the eyes Seriously, it looks really good from the front.

While you're at it, can you fix my screw-ups too?
-
Yeah, the OII is a great touch. According to the plaque at the exhibit, the armor and tanks are polyurethane.

There are things that can be done to the Efx bucket; however, there are many other options that are better and even more affordable. Do you already have an Efx?

So the flametrooper has a pack with three tanks. From my experience with various costumes such as Boushh and the Skytrooper, tanks can add a lot of weight. With the Skytrooper in particular, this can result in the chest armor pulling-up into one's throat. I'm wondering what the lightest alternative for flametrooper tanks would be. What do you suppose they used for the screen-used costume?

I really enjoy your photos, techniques, and explanations. Keep it up, and your build will become the go-to reference for other builders.

Indeed. I would color the detonator hose. According to the CRL: The back of the belt has a rectangular black box with short black corrugated hose.

Darth Voorhees' Shadow scout build! FINALLY!

Hang in there Lou. -
Chuck makes the best stuff. Way to go Dorothy. I love it!

That's cool that someone is offering the files. I'd love to see what can be done with them.

Welcome. That's a shiny kit you have there. As far as the similarities between AM and FX, both are larger-scale armors, but FX is outdated. The latest AM kits are more accurate than the old, generally unavailable FX. Both have the three-piece helmet design whereas most kits have a two-piece helmet assembly. Tony's build instructions are helpful, but they also are a bit outdated. I recommend looking at build threads here. As for the helmet, I don't have experience personally with building the three piece I'm afraid.

Sherman Williams house paint. I then brushed a clear coat over it.

So after years of taking care of me and my kids during troops, my wife finally asked for a 501st costume and chose the Shadow Scout (I'm so proud!). I picked-up the following: 1. Red Kapp jumpsuit 2. simple convertible balaclava 3. A pair of boots of the interwebs (we've made a couple pairs of these already, but we got lazy on this one as we have a lot of projects going on right now). 4. Cummberbund, pouches, cummerbund made by Chef. 5. Helmet and armor kit from Chef I started work on the helmet first while Tarisa began modifying the jumpsuit. First I trimmed and taped it to test my fittings Then I reinforced the seam and glued it all up. I think I goofed a bit on the trimming as I ended-up with some gnarly gaps. Then for my least favorite part of any build, filler. I dislike Bondo especially. When I built my first droid I learned about Evercoat, so I employed that. Even after filling and sanding I still had traces of seam left. With Chef's encouragement I hit it again with filler and ended-up a bit better. Then I scratched-it up like crazy assembling it and had to fill some spots and primer all over again, because that is how I roll. Aside from some matte decals I'm expecting from Trooperbay, here it is finished-up this morning next to my Moncal bucket.

Your painting is nice and clean. Well-done.

Welcome Mark! -
Good start so far Simon. I haven't heard of RWA before. Who are they?

Great progress. As for the det clips, you can make your own quite easily from some aluminum from the hardware store if you have some tin snips. You can then bend to shape. Otherwise, Evilboy sells them: http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/2177-fs-evilboys-screen-accurate-td-belt-clips/page__hl__%2Bdetonator+%2Bclips__fromsearch__1

Looking good! As for the decals, yes. We recommend that you use decals that contrast to the black that you are using. For instance, if your helmet is gloss, use satin or matte decals. If your helmet is satin, use gloss decals. Trooperbay should be able to supply what you need.

Many make their own, and it isn't too hard to do, but try this link to order a pair of read-made: http://forum.specops501st.com/index.php?/topic/2881-shadow-biker-scout-boots-made-to-order-us-and-ca-only/page__hl__%2Bmxpxrobbie+%2Bboots__fromsearch__1

JK II Shadowtrooper Helmet Sculpt
toddo replied to Fivezero's topic in Shadowtrooper (Jedi Knight II)
Turn those into a pair of shoulder bells -
Good catches there Thomas on the details. The armor sculpts should not make a difference aside from the FX-style helmet which is no longer accepted by the Legion. The differences in sculpts are fine and fall under the general umbrella of the CRL. As far the the name of the character, as the Gentle Giant statue is our best complete source, I think we need to keep the title consistent with that even though the characters originated in the comic as Lumiya's Royal Stormtroopers.
