Good news Dorothy. I've wanted to do this one myself, but it's been on the back burner for quite a while. I look forward to seeing what you do with it.

I just snap the front.

Some folks use a belt harness to attach their thighs like they did in ROTJ. I did that with my first suit but found it too complicated. I later changed it to just snap to the bottom inside of my abdomen. All of my suits are that way now.

I wouldn't expect that your GML would have a problem with the size of those strips. Good job.

Welcome David. I agree with DE in that Florida is full of great costumers. Be sure to introduce yourself on the Florida Garrison's boards. SC is good shadow scout stuff, so that will be a good choice. If you haven't already, study the CRL for Shadow Scout: http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TX_shadow_scout

I'll keep an eye on the LMO thread to support it. Then go ahead and send the kit to me for "up-close inspection"
-
Yep. I do every single troop.

Yeah, the straps are a bit loose on the pack, but it wouldn't take much to tighten them once more. If you need it, you can try adding a horizontal strap across the chest to keep the main two straps pulled-snug.

Looking great Ron! Say hello to Domz for me.

According to the CRL, Traps (trapezoids on dome of helmet) and tears (area beneath the corners of eye lenses) may be: hand painted, decals. Acceptable colors are: black or gray. Rear traps and tears may have vertical black lines. but I personally think matte black looks best.

That's a good start Jason Do you have an olive drab uniform in the works to go with that Veers jazz?
-
I wouldn't really go beyond the bend you skinny fellow. Instead I would trim down the the flat edges to a minimum and just go with a skinny cover strip. What do you think Steve?

Detonator looks good. The photos of the arm are too close-up for me to have any real perspective. Maybe take a picture of you wearing the forearm in the mirror.

Where you cut the frown depends on the look you are going for. There is anything from low-brow to the Move Along look. I think your lines look fine. As for mesh to cover the frown, winyl window screen works fine, and Trooperbay sells mesh as well; however, in the films there is nothing covering the frown believe it or not. When I make helmets now I put nothing behind the teeth.

Let's see the pics. If you can show them on your arm that's even better.

I don't think ATA advertises it, but I think he may have it in stock.
-
The other thing about Cal's kits are that he doens't have enough plastic on the sides of his abdomen molds. ATA and all of the others have enough that you can trim to fit whereas Cal's kits are meant for Anthony Daniels it seems
-
You can't re-use the strips you have and just trim them down? If for some reason you can't, get some sign material from Home Depot. Look for the thicket stuff they have. I would just try to trim down the current strips though if you can.
-
Why don't you go ahead and submit it? In my opinion, your suit is not nearly as weathered as the sideshow version. Your GML might pass you bit doesn't hurt to test the waters while we deliberate further. Even once we decide it will take a bit to update the CRL.

It's always great to see more Magmas. ATA and T/MC should really be about the same size.
-
The thing to remember is the 501st is not about what's noticeable at a distance. We are about looking as good as we can, and most of our troops you will be up close with the public as well as your peers. If the GML asks you to narrow the strips, frustrating as it may be I would narrow the strips. Pete is correct about rounding the edges as well. You're almost there man
