  1. I was in a Starbucks' drive-thru yesterday when I noticed this bumper post sleeve. Evidently they are made of plastic so they would be light-weight and come in a variety of sizes including 6 inches.
  2. Thanks! I love those photos and I'm sure they will serve as superb reference not only for troopers' future builds, but also how to properly submit photos to GMLs.
  3. What I have done is attach the soft side of Velcro to the part of my pack frame that touches my armor. That prevents scratching.
  4. Overall this is close Phillip. I do think your pack is oversized, even on you. It protrudes too far back. That might be altered by changing your mounting system to bring it closer to your body. The thing that needs the most re-working is the width of the pack. It is just too wide for your frame. Also, as much as I like the cog logo on the bottom of your det tube, it isn't accurate. The other thing that would hold-up approval would be the ammo pouch. It appears too centered on your chest. It should be more to your left.
  5. This is a remarkable achievement in scratch building at your age or any age for that matter, especially considering that you are employing pep/fiberglass methods rather than sculpting/vac-forming as this armor is traditionally made. That said, there is an overall roughness to your edges and seams that reveals your methods. I would continue to work to smooth those out. Some of the other details are actually too sharp for the look you are trying to achieve. For instance, the ear bumps are quite crisp; however, the reference bumps are much less defined due to the vac-forming process. I would work to emulate that a bit more in your build if you are seeking approval. So to recap: 1. soften your angles 2. smooth your edges and seams Amazing start. -Todd
  6. I'm afraid I don't have time to watch a walkthrough. Try to find an image please. Sounds intriguing.
  7. Unfortunately, there is no reference for such a trooper. Being that it is a custom costume, it will not be able to be approved. Looks cool though. Nice job. You look great, and I'm sure it will be a hit at cons.
  8. You already received my feedback in the GML forum, but I'm looking forward to seeing pic with the details blackened and the neck seal straightened-out. You're looking good!
  9. The gold looks great. That's not a bad scratch-built radio pack either.
  10. $57 each before shipping. http://www.regaldisplay.com/scuba-displays/scuba-tank-black
  11. I agree. They look very much like scuba tanks to me, but I would think they can't be anywhere near as heavy. I've been trying to find an affordable replica plastic scuba tank to use as a base. There is one out there designed for show room mannequins, but the tanks are still pricey.
  12. That's a valid point. I'm not sure if it is the way things are being worn or if there is an additional piece from CVII. The figures I have show a smaller piece on the back of the upper thigh similar to the display at CVII FWIW.
  13. Wow! It would be great if we could see a visual representation compared to an average sized male. Are we sure that the pressure gauge is 2"?
  14. While there is some overlap, from the front the tanks don't protrude into the shoulder bell area. That's actually fairly narrow IMHO.
  15. I have no idea really on the size of the tanks. Mock-ups would help, but when I measured-out 6" tanks on my own back it was too wide seemingly.
  16. I don't have the stature for Vader either, but I have two versions now
  17. Pictures or it didn't happen! Seriously when you have a moment at home, can you show us your tanks so far?
  18. It looks like you won't be able to see well, but it is remarkable how well you can see.
  19. I'm not so sure that the photo I posted on the other thread is a nicely head-on like that though. Thanks!
  20. If fits great and looks like it will be perfectly proportionate. I still have to secure my lens and add padding, but there is plenty of room without being bobble-headed.
  21. You do want them to hang vertical, so I would replace the diagonal strapping. I riveted new straps in place of them. That was pretty simple to do. I also recommend removing the superfluous strap and ring. You can probably just cut it off with a good pair of scissors.
