This is the part that troubles me. I'm going to try and break this down as best as I can. 1. We have some parts where we can clearly see/count how many recessed lines there and there would be little to know deviation on this no matter how big/small you are. Handplates, boots, helmet etc Other parts there may be an overlap, or we cannot get clear references to count. 2. Combine this with the complexity of GML approval, what can be seen and what would be a reasonable expectation for a GML to count all the lines. If L1 is about achieving the 'overall look', but then: 3. Throw the fact that we don't want members replicating the toys. There are clear differences between the toy and costume when it comes to the number of lines. 4. Consistency - I'm not comfortable being prescriptive for some things, then being non-prescriptive on other things. Consistency will help keep the CRL simple. These are the 4 factors that I try to keep in mind while reviewing the L1 and L2. Maybe we can throw this up for discussion once the whole CRL is up and ready for final review?

The modifications look great! Also that was a nice and simple solution to the boots. Well done!

I think there's a couple of things at play here to achieve the basic look of the costume; colour and gloss. The boot is clearly high gloss and the same colour as the rest of the armour, when viewed from any distance. The trick is wording this in a way that we get a perceptible differences, but not an extreme ones. Please let me know if there are issues with the text that is in place currently.

I personally hope the Polish company got permission, it would be great to get the correct finish. We can certainly look at relaxing the rule in the short term if there are no viable options, but would prefer to get the closest match possible. Possible text would be: FO style boot finished in a gloss or semi-gloss red that closely resembles the armor OPTIONAL Level 2: Boot and armour must match in appearance Or something like that

Hi all, I have rewritten the text to separate out what I think is reasonable for L1 and L2. Please review and let's get to the next piece. @gmrhodes13 @JoeShoe @rickyboyblue @ukswrath @Raider -
Echoing congratulations on the approval! Such a great build thread, thanks for sharing!

complete Sithtrooper Helmet - Draft CRL Development Discussion

This has highlighted detail is missing from the text. Can anyone help transcribe to descriptive text? I believe the whole brow is quite complex and requires a bit of thought. It's possible we could make some of these details L2. -

Sorry, I am not sure I understand your question. If you are talking about the costume variation of "Death Trooper Specialist" then that is already a part of the current CRL and is approvable. If you are talking about the SpecOps Specialist Program then currently not. The CRL is being rewritten taking into account what will be the L2 requirements which will for the basis of the Specialist Program requirements. I do not have an ETA on that as of yet, it's a complex costume and there's a lot to cover.

I'll add Altmans to the armour kits based here in Australia, although I believe he takes time and am not ? on whether he's still making them. A friend bought two kits off him around a year ago...

The counting of lines came about as a means to distinguish between the Hot Toy and the costume. I agree that no GML will want to count all the lines but it’s going to be difficult to word in a way that will cover this. Even if you put a range in, GML still has to verify. Judging by some if the talk about town, the BluRay won’t reveal much more than we have already.

Hey Wilson, thanks for reaching out. Personally, I'm not really in a position where I can spend hours looking over files to give advice for someone to make a profit. My focus is trying to get all the details out of the reference material to form the basis of the CRL, which is incredibly time consuming! Initially I was involved providing advice to a host of different projects, but I found that it was too time consuming and often the modellers just don't get it, so I started my own long term project to model the character myself. The time it takes me to explain something is more time than it takes to model it! At a glance the files look good. The best advice I can give you is to go through all of the reference materials and try to match them against the files. A way of doing this is using something like Fusion 360 to import the STL where you can angle the piece to match reference pics using overlay. Where possible use the CRL development threads to get the details. Sorry I cannot be of more help

I am the worst vendor ever LOL! I did a limited run, I'm not doing them anymore. This is the reason why I am sharing how I built them, so I don't have to!

Hi everyone Some of you may know that I used to make a great holster and pouch set. It only got that way because I did my research and found that no-one was making an accurate set and what was available was too pricy. So I decided to embark on the journey that is leather craft. Now while this holster isn't the most accurate (and you can easily modify it to make it more accurate) it's still a highly functional holster that looks great and you can still operate it wearing gloves. I will eventually upload a template for the pouch and how to assemble that, but here is the holster for now. I have created a template so you can make your own Death Trooper Holster! You just need to buy Some belt leather (either pre-dyed black or DIY) Some snaps and a snap setting tool A leather hole punch (for mounting the snaps) A small nut & bolt. (Optional) If you want the ultimate finish you will need a slicker and edge beveller to create nice edges to the leather. You will need a sharp blade to cut the leather With the leather you can buy it already dyed or you can dye it yourself, that's entirely up to you. If you do dye it yourself you will need to get some finisher too. I used a satin finish. The holster is really easy to assemble, you just use the template to mark out your parts including the snap holes. Cut everything out very carefully and then put it all together. I'll update this post with more details later, I just wanted to get this started... although if you check the assembly instructions you should be able to figure it all out! The Template is an ISO A3 size page 1:1. I added a V2 that has all the dimensions on it.
