ROTJ Shadowtrooper - SW Battlefront (2015)
toddo replied to mikedwelle94's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
There has been some debate as to whether or not this should be a variant or a separate costume. Personally I think there are enough differences to warrant a new costume. I think the helmet is more ANH-style and think the bells look ROTJ. What are you seeing that makes them the opposite Mike? -
Yep. That's the body of the shadow stormtrooper from Battlefront.
-
Glad to hear you are working on the weight. Looking very good Mardon.
-
You guys don't want to see my place.
-
Good luck with the weight loss. If you find a junkfood wrapper in the trash, just know that the Warriors did it.
-
Looking really good Dan. The only thing I see is that at least in these shots, the helmet lacks the gloss of the armor.

I've never cracked ABS while trimming before, and I've done a handful of costumes. Just use the score/snap method, and you'll be fine.
-
Honestly, I thought your previous ones looked fine, so these should be acceptable. You might want to ask your GML for his opinion before proceeding though given the track record.
-
I always get so excited with your updates Kevin. Keep them coming.
-
What a great way to start a build thread. Keep it coming and have fun.
-
Thanks for satisfying my curiosity Dan. Looking good.
-
Good find Kevin. The green lights will be awesome. The idea reminds me of the Sardakuar from Lynch's Dune.
-
Some of those items are true such as the thighs being too large, but many of these things are nit-picky for basic approval. I'm sorry to hear about this and wonder if your differences with the GML might be coloring the perception.

Thanks Jim for getting Dan's access straightened-out. This is looks terrific so far Dan. Is this one of Kevin B's kits? I'm wondering what you are using for boots too. I have a set of Wyatt's gaskets as well, and they are top notch. How is the sign shop going to perform the striping work? Paint, vinyl, something else?
-
Yuck, that looks like garbage. Just kidding as I'm loving how close those waste bins look. Nice work on the central band so far too.
-
That's looking pretty good! Keep going on that as this is the closest real-life manifestation of the pack I've seen so far.

We don't have accurate measurements for the tanks. Given that fact, I'm sure the CRL will not be specific when it comes to size. It will be more about making sure that they are present and matching the reference material visually as closely as possible. In other words, we aren't doing prop replication in that exactness isn't our goal. Our goal is to represent that costume elements so that they look right.

Walt is the man these days.

Imperial boots are good quality and good service. Francois, who runs it, is a stand-up guy. The magma boots have a slight orange tint to them compared to the armor, but I think it looks fine.
-
That makes as much sense as anything else so far Ty. I agree that there is a harness underneath the armor, and that the tanks attach to the harness at the waist. I've thought that the waist bracket then runs up the back to attach in the middle, but your point about those bolts in the shoulders makes sense. I noticed in Anaheim that one of the major differences between flamey's back armor and the TFO stormtrooper's armor is the inclusion of those bolts. Your theory makes sense. One could even just have straps attached to that like a backpack running beneath the armor and attaching to the waist harness. Your diagram is likely spot-on.

GattiRenata's Shadow Scout build - advice much appreciated
toddo replied to gattirenata's topic in Spec Ops Scout Armory
The last pair is the only one that I would go for. If you want extra height, you can always buy a size or two larger and insert lifts like we short Vaders do sometimes. WampaWear gloves are great and require nothing except your hot little hands. -
You're making rapid-fore work of this Ty, and it is fun to watch. It's good that you aren't offering a live feed, or I'd never leave my laptop.
-
Take your time, and it will all work out. I look forward to seeing updates.

You worked hard on your Nova even going back to the drawing board when needed. You should be proud of it, and I'm sure you will be able to achieve approval soon.
