Imperial Security Trooper - Andor - CRL Discussion

Recommended Posts

I agree, we really do need a model that meets L2 spec.

While the backpack IS optional we dont necessarily need it for the gallery until one is built.

Since the baton is so prevalent we will need that and it looks like @BigJasoni is handling that for us.

Updating Shin text on the first page.  Im ready to see this get pubished!

Ok, lets talk blaster

E 10.5. and or R1 E11.   Not much too it, very little screen time.
has a picatinny rail on the right for the flashlight which is not mounted.

I dont want to get the discussion moved over to the other topic, but there is a seperate topic on the weapon itself with some good discussin.

That said, the CRL discussion needs to happen here:

Yeah this is an interesting one for me, it is such a small detail for a differentiation between the two. I almost want to allow current E-10.5 for both the IAT:A and IST and perhaps we can modify the base CRL to state that it may have the rail and flashlight, or something along those lines? Another route could be using the IAT:A CRL E-10.5 base text and then modifying the L2 requirements to specifically show that it is different from the IAT:A CRL E-10.5?

I know that FISD has a different E-11 CRL for ANH, ROTJ, ESB for example; but I feel like that may be unnecessary for such a small detail change.

just to make sure im on the same track, would that be the guy in the hotel that Cassian takes down? Or did you spot another one?

I think that info looks good on the weaponry, but we'll take the L3 stuff and consolidate it into the L2 requirements. I'm going to look at the first page and see that all that text makes sense. We can get the CRL wiki started on this and loading when that first page gets validated.

@BigJasoni are you our model for this?

Sorry guys, I've been away for a while. Let me finish my pants this weekend and I'm available to model if needed.

Hey everyone. Like Sean, I wasn't receiving notifications that things were moving along again. Sorry for not being involved.

Just an update, my armor's finished, but I have a couple small things I need to finish for the costume. My semester is over, so It should only take me a couple days. I'll finish my pants today or tomorrow, then paint my baton since that's what I was intending on using for my main weapon. I also have the "cattle prod" but have a little more sanding and refinement needed for that piece. I do have an E-10.5 for my Aldhani kit, but I really don't like the idea of a blaster with the Rix Road costume unless we are in fact doing one for the guys wearing soft parts only. I can put together a Rogue One E-11 pretty quick since I have a Sterling Airsoft Gun and all the accessories sitting here, but I need to know if that's how we're proceeding.

I can take pictures in a couple days if someone wants them, but who would I need to send these to?

Thanks

No worries, we got the text drafted and I came to the realization that we didn't fully identify the model for this. I'll provide you with a link via PM (including the rest of the team) for uploading the unedited CRL pictures (we'll do the edits). I do believe that we are planning on using the R1 blaster text for the E-11.

agreed!

were ready to get thsi big show on the road.  The E11 would be a option of the soft costume only without armor since we break out everything into tabbed galleries, we can just add it to only "that" tabbed gallery.

Looking forward to all of it and seeing this complete and out to the Legion for use.

I like the v1.2 text to allow the 3D print option on it for local law compliance and flexibility. We may be able to actually remove the part about "3D printed" text since we have a general requirements disclaimer about 3D prints now. Thanks for your dedication on this! In the home stretch.

Where is the "general requirement" about 3D prints? It might be useful to provide a link to the requirement, so everyone is aware. I know it almost goes without saying, but I've seen way too many poor examples of 3D printed armor and accessories now.

Next, not a major issue, but since the following was included in the Level 2 verbiage, we need to clean it up a little bit.

These are essentially the same thing. Maybe chose one. I think just saying "1943 model is required." We did this because we got a close-up picture of the blaster at D23 after Rogue One that clearly showed the 1943 model. I think we're assuming they used the same cast for Andor.

Again, same thing, just different phraseology. The RO blaster absolutely has the small eagle logo.

Just remove the second one.

Great job again guys. I started taking pics tonight.

It is in the Special Notes, all of our newer CRLs (old ones are getting updated as time allows) and says:

3D Printed parts are permitted but all print lines and other artifacts must be removed.

Perfect! Thanks.
I've probably looked at that a hundred times and just didn't think about it.

Did we ever come to a resolution on the weathering for the boots?  I'm not seeing anything right now.

Also, for the CRL page, are you going to use the fully armored version as the main image?  I would suggest that since Aldhani is not, and the armored version is primarily what we see on Ferrix.  Just my two cents.

Jason has some great armor put together (having seen it in person) and I think he will kill it as the model.  I'm a few months behind him in completion.  This has been an extremely fun build working on it while also providing input on the CRL.

Good morning! Boot weathering will be a requirement for L2 and an option on L1.

As for the CRL image, I believe that the helmeted version is going to be version 1 and any additional versions will be subsequently numbered for if.

We currently have the CRL page being worked on in the background and are making textual corrections as we see them (if needed). The images are almost all uploaded from the model and the editing of the images has been assigned.

Thanks for all the participation!

@BigJasoni I know that we are going to be updating some of the weapon text and we have our DM but do you have additional reference pics of that zap rod?

I uuseually only get just a very few minutes a day to work on this. I never noticed the duplications.  Those are removed in this proposal.

Sorry for my absense, Ive been SLAMMED wth work, our busiest year ever and Im doing all the work in Louisiana and Mississippi. I have employees, they literally do 1/10th the work levels I do because when they are on shift they never get callouts. When Im on shift the phone never stops rining.

I just went through the "archives" and came up with the following pics. Of course, most of the reference photos are on Narkina 5, but as we see in the below photos, it clearly appears a couple times on Rix Road. The issue becomes finding detailed references on Rix Road, but we can compare what we see with the much clearer pics elsewhere.

12PTpYJ.jpeg
First, in the formation, we can see at least two troopers carrying the black Zap Rod.

8Gcqeon.jpeg
The second pic shows it in action. This is the clearest shot we see of it on Rix Road. In this picture, the color looks more gunmetal than black/ anthracite, but we can definitely see what it is along with the details.

t6V5L0T.jpeg
Here it is again. Now you can see that it's more black than anything else. The former picture that made it appear grey/ gunmetal appears to be because of the lighting.

v4FWQPN.jpeg
Earlier in the Narkina 5 episode, we saw the black Zap Rod pop up as Cassian was being transferred to the prison. This is good because we see how the weapon was seemingly used in multiple scenes, but also shows that a black zap rod existed throughout the series.

bq6pyCL.jpeg
And here's a good picture showing the two variations of the Zap Rod. In this picture, we can tell that it's the exact same weapon, but in different colors. Therefore, we should be able to use the clearer pictures from Narkina 5 to build our requirements.

y59Vd4g.jpeg
Here's the first clear picture. Additionally, the upper handle details are shown.

0gO64Z5.jpeg

Here's a good pic of the entire weapon. This is good for showing the details as well as the overall length of the rod.

jhUhjfb.jpeg
Finally, I wanted to post this picture of the riot baton. I'm not sure how I overlooked this previously, but it's a great picture that shows the size and color of the baton and grip. Of note, this is the best picture showing the "density," or thickness of the foam handle.
