Thanks! As it turns out I am building this from 90% b-grades Jim, I was just reviewing the CRL again and I see that the helmet details are listed as black, but Chief mentioned to do them grey like the standard scout. Can you confirm what color they should be I also see the knees say to match the snout, which is also listed as needing to be black in the lvl2 section.
-
Yea Jim, I just saw that new CRL link on the GML/GWL section. Its no worries as my vest is now in the states. Will be here soon
-
Adding pictures as I updated my photobucket And a box of goodies showed up today! I have everything for the most part to finish this now. Except 2 parts.... I forgot drop boxes and I gave the shoulders to my fiancee. So I am in need of them now. Now here is a strange question. I have the riding patches on my flight suit but I do not have my vest done yet, will that hold up basic approval?
-
Im still waiting for parts from SC including the helmet....

I cleaned out my photobucket, so the pictures might now show up now. In case they got messed up, here is the new album specific for the Swamp Trooper http://s828.photobucket.com/user/mazdaspeed805/library/501st%20Scout%20Troopers/Swamp%20Scout?sort=3&page=1

Glue on the new boots is almost dry. Then add the holster, make a new bund and then ill get some updated pictures. I will have everything ready for lvl 2 except the vest, that will be a bit still
-
Alrighty Got the suede on the suit! As well as tightened up the arms and legs! Next up, finish boots and new bund
-
Noted and will continue. Should have the rest of everything in the next couple weeks, except the flak vest. That will be a month out Yea I lucked out on the green velcro for the boots and the bund. Its really close in color!

Scott, I am using Krylon Fusion Satin Hunter Green for paint. The vinyl for the boots is something I am getting local. I dont have any numbers or branding on the pieces left over, BUT, I can swing by the store I get it soon and snoop around for anything that can help. Chef, after reviewing your pending CRL information, I still have a couple minor questions. First, is there any requirement on velcro color on the boots and cummerbund? I have a matching green velcro that I am using at the moment, 1 inch for the boots and 2 inch for the bund. Second, for the sake of color matching on the belt, would it be acceptable to use 2 inch cotton for the belt that matches the 1.5 inch for the drop boxes? Third, color of decals for the helmet. I am assuming that the snout and bolts being grey, the decals would follow the standard white scout colors, is this correct? And last, what color visor is required? At the moment, this is the only questions I have, however, as I start really building this, I will be after some more information... I would say it would mostly be about colors, as all the sizes of the straps and elastic are consistent across all scouts.

Im heading out the door for work, but as soon as I am home ill get you the names and whatnot Scott Thanks Chef, ill look it over later today
-
Noted. As it sits right now, the paint, boot vinyl, nylon straps, and my cotton for the cummerbund is almost the same color of green, you would have to really look close in person to see any differences! So I guess I lucked out. Now to find a matching grey for the knees
-
I have a few questions regarding movie standard lvl 2. In the posted CRL on 501st.com it states the use of black straps for the shoulder bridge and the back of the belt. Is this correct? If not I would assume that it would be a matching green. Also, is nylon good for lvl 2, or do I need to find green cotton?

I wanted to get some pictures, but I got home to late last night to get good ones. Its really nice today, so once my Fiancee is awake ill get some.... then go to work...
-
And here is starts! I was able to score a great deal on a almost complete scout, just mismatched colors. So I thought.... why not! During this time. I am also upgrading my existing scout to General Weir and making all the correct changes needed to specialist status. I am currently painting the parts I have on hand, and should have a picture later today. I have also completed my boots to about 80% done. This will be a hybrid build from MC and SC parts... and Chef TD Pics to follow in a few

Ill get them sent to Robert if you want, or I can e-mail them to you and you can send. Let me know what you want to do. I wont be able to do it until 9:30 tonight either way
-
Did you fill out your application?
-
Pictures are taken! Ill get them from my camera and get them to you and/or to our GML
-
If the ice castle shoot doesnt work out, remember ill be at GalaxyFest with my screen and whatnot taking submission pics
-
Ill be there friday and saturday, and its here in the springs if thats the one you are thinking of. Val will have her Bo-Katan for the con now, as SC is not getting back to me.... On that note, if anyone has b-grade SC parts, let me know!
-
Yay..... NOT.... my boots died So another part of my upgrade will be making new boots. I am also working with SC to get a few parts for my fiancee. She wants to make a convention worthy scout... Kinda like the fem scout patch I just hope he gets back to me soon as we hope to have it for a con at the end of next month.

Darn you! Now I want to build one again! Looks great and cannot wait to see it finished
-
PS, get a good look at the pictures. The links might break before you finish your armor. I am cleaning up my photobucket account....

From looking at the specialist approved Blackhole troopers, I can see that either way of fixing the holster to the belt is fine. However, if you mount it with snaps/rivets/screws make sure it is mounted on the left side per CRL. Elastic... I have a bunch on the TK I just finished. Sorry for the blurry pic All the straps you see there are elastic. Now this was built to FISD's centurion level. I am not sure if the specialist level here for troopers is that extreme. If it is not, then disregard my strapping system. Otherwise, I have some small elastic, like micro small, to hold down my shoulder straps in the rear. I would also put a band of elastic around your biceps that attaches to the shoulder bells. See this picture of me with a goofy clone blaster And last on elastic. I feel some that connects the bicep to the forearm would be nice. Attaching leather to your belt. I assume that you have plastic straps that you are using as a belt currently? If so I would recommend to spray the plastic(mask off or detach from belt face/front) with the new e6000 spray. Also use that on the leather material. That should work. Ammo box on the leg. You can put a screw that runs from the inside of the thigh into the ammo box. It does not screw into the ammo box, but acts more like a shelf for it to sit on. Ill dig up a pic if I can. There are other ways I am sure, but before you do what I said, make sure that it will be good for specialist. I know for my TK, I just used split rivets and let it float. It doesnt move because I make the rivets pretty tight, but if I need to adjust it for pictures, I still can. and like your Facebook post.... No flash please
-
Aww man I wanted to do that....... Noted on that as well. Is the SC belt good enough for specialist? If I put it together with glue and not rivets
-
Ill be using a new belt, but ill take a pic of mine and make sure how I have my current one is right, otherwise ill make the correct changes. and noted on the flaps
