Sergeant Kreel WIP. Comic Star Wars (2015) Issue #59&60
RAIDER replied to darthRivera's topic in Sergeant Kreel
@darthRivera ooooo those snaps in the art are tinyeeeee!!! good find. so yea just the pauldron that i see and making sure everything is fitted up good when ya shoot the pics again but really...id hold off till we get into the draft just in case anything else comes up as we compare to references. -
I've sorted the reference pictures thread by issue arc to separate the different versions. I should also have some update pictures shortly on my progress.

Sergeant Kreel WIP. Comic Star Wars (2015) Issue #59&60
RAIDER replied to darthRivera's topic in Sergeant Kreel
Man @darthRivera I'm so pumped to see this! I've been working on my stuff as well for Cav since recovering and only have the ab and belt to finish before I can start strapping. Anyways... Overall I feel like you've nailed it! I only see a 2 things that really stick out to me (though I would want to marinate and review this a couple more times over): 1) The folding/creasing of the pauldron. I really feel like this should be tightened/smoothed. 2) The hanging hip pouch...I don't see any evidence of visible snaps. It looks like you have 2 silver snaps showing on both the front and back part of the strap. If there's a way to connect that or at the very least conceal those snaps (maybe even paint them black if it isn't possible to hide them), then that should probably be done. Other than that, I think the build is good...there might be some things we can examine when we go through the CRL text as far as what should be Level 1 and Level 2 as some ANH TK details aren't necessarily present in the artwork...but that's not anything I think needs adjusting. WELL DONE!!! -
Sergeant Kreel WIP. Comic Star Wars (2015) Issue #59&60
RAIDER replied to darthRivera's topic in Sergeant Kreel
Man I was sick w/ Covid and totally missed this. Let me take a look. On a side note, I added all of the Kreel references across every issue to the reference pictures thread and sorted them by issue arc to separate out the different variants. On my end there's an issue w/ some pictures though @IcyTrooper that I can't get fixed for some reason. -
Awesome! Thanks for sharing!!!

I havent followed the ICAT. im assuming those tunics had no cog? i would only say that as far as “lore” the timeline of solo is a decent ways ahead of the mandalorian...and so im not sure it’s a fair conclusion to say whats on the icat HAS to match we saw the cog in solo. thats our primary reference for the mudtrooper crl, not the mando...and i wouldnt push for a removal of the cog for that reason. my 2 cents

if u could....elaborate please?

TheFireAwakens1807's Deathtrooper WIP

Rock and a hard place lol. I have a feeling it will work out. Looks like @Chaos gave you a few solid work-arounds that could possibly pan out. -
Nice @Chaos!

Sergeant Kreel WIP. Comic Star Wars (2015) Issue #59&60
RAIDER replied to darthRivera's topic in Sergeant Kreel
Yup. That info is a bit dated in that most dets (like ours) will facilitate the NTTL process for you. The statement these days mostly relates to costumes that have no detachment home to build the CRL alongside. You wont have to do much other than help draft the text here and then take pics. CRL peeps will take care of the rest for you -
Sergeant Kreel WIP. Comic Star Wars (2015) Issue #59&60
RAIDER replied to darthRivera's topic in Sergeant Kreel
Im impressed! If I was being extremely critical, I would say that the rectangular area seems too wide and potentially those might be round “lights” in the center instead of square etched details...hard to tell. And then finally the end where the saber would come out seems longer (thicker) than the reference. That silver area seems to not be as long and doesnt have the etched ring around the lip as well...at least from the references I see here. But yea thats about it but Im pretty impressed by the work. Well done! PS I dont know Sith CRLs well. are sabers required or optional pieces? -

Are you using anything underneath the straps to keep them from sliding up and down the arm/leg? -
tat2trooper anovos shadow trooper build
RAIDER replied to Tat2trooper's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
Nice! Way to go Tony @ukswrath!!! -
good question. the details of the crl are anh details and so it’s implied. rogue one armor will have details in most parts that will not align w/ the crl. examples...engraved blue tube stripes on helmet, beveled cover strips, shoulder straps inserting into chest plate etc. you will need to get a traditional tk kit to do a shadow. hope that helps

Ty what was the name of the paing u used for boots? I need to repaint tk boots back to white. Link? Thx!

Updated original post and reference pictures thread (though they may need sorting by issue to separate the different variants).

First picture updates... I started the bondo work on the chest to smooth it out per the references which should give it a more solid mounting area for the knife sheaths. Here are some progress pics. Not quite done yet. Need to put some filler in some spots, then prime and paint. @nanotek If you can assist…I copied links and pasted and hit enter but pics aren't showing. Other than this chest update, here are other general updates. -Cleaned off all of the TD weathering on all parts. Boots, I couldn't get it all off, but this trooper I think will have some weathering to it along with the cuts and battle damage and so will get some feedback later on whether I need to paint boots or can leave as is. -Trimmed out the arm parts a bit more to fit my muscular arms (hahaha). -Constructed thighs (waiting on last cover strip to dry). -Cleaned up the chest trim job as well. -The shins had some weird shim construction to them. Going to need to redo those. -The previous builder also did some ab-to-kidney plate suspender system I have never seen before and so I will need to remove that and restrap. -Ordered replacement shoulder straps and TK knee plate to replace the TD work. When those arrive, can finish off the shin and will need to restrap the chest/back. -Ordered an animated clone belt (which will need some slight modification)…once I have that in hand and can get some measurements on it, I will order a canvas belt to mount it to. -Ordered leather knife sheaths for chest and thigh and 2 medium Spanish pouches (with a custom tab). - @Fivezero has graciously stepped up to help 3D model the unique left shoulder bell and knives. (THANKS!) I think that's it…going to start uploading the primary and secondary references now.

tat2trooper anovos shadow trooper build
RAIDER replied to Tat2trooper's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
Specialist means you build with the extra details found on the CRL (the blue text) in mind. There a variety of things but all of it is found in the CRL Level 2 blue text standards. -
Starting a WIP thread here. This build wont be a start-to-finish project as I picked up a nearly-complete Sandtrooper ATA kit that I will be modifying. Once all of the weathering is cleaned off and I finish building the thighs, I will start posting pics along with some of my research from the comic panels. This will be interesting as I’ve only built 3 costumes that had prior CRLs (Shadow Scout, TK, and TD) and I am doing the groundwork research from a slew of inconsistent comic panels. Helmet/Armor - ATA Armor Works Chest/Abdomen/Shoulders - 3D Printed Clone Belt Armor - Imperial Surplus TK Canvas Belt - Imperial Issue Thermal Detonator - Anovos Boots - Imperial Boots Neck Seal - Trooperbay Undersuit - Dr. Skin (Amazon) Gloves - Dishwasher Gloves/Nomex Flight Gloves (Amazon) Sheaths/Pouches - Darman’s Props (Custom) Knives - 3D Printed @Fivezero E-11 - DoopyDoo EDIT: Cav's armor (along with all of SCAR Squadron) progresses/evolves as the timeline progresses. While some parts maintain consistency throughout, there are some noticeable differences. In particular, Cav has a bionic arm that would be difficult to replicate in a costume. HOWEVER, in Issues #59-61, Cav's arm is covered in standard TK armor, so these panels will be the primary references for my build (and eventual CRL proposal (and will pull details as necessary from secondary references/panels though that will be minimal if at all): Anyways, the goal is Celebration Anaheim ‘22!!! Let the fun begin...
