A Level 2 Specialist app would/could/should be required to show some additional details...even some unseen. The padding is part of the boot...even a replica...and I do agree w/ you that would be a req for L2 approval. That may not have been the original intent but thats definitely how I interpret it and would when our first L2 applicant steps forward understanding how the Specialist application process works. Keep in mind some of the discussion dates back to August and so the responses back then 4 months ago may be slightly dated as well.

@Blackwatch Great! Ok one last question and Im done... Our older convo about belt grommets. L1 says belt IS grommeted...L2 says it isnt. I thought we eventually decided grommets were just as prevalent in the comic panels as non. Is my memory correct on that? If so do u think we can remove the L2 req? Either way I think L1 should say it can be either or that way it doesnt look contradictory.

@Blackwatch looks good. A few minor cleanups for consistency w/ our other CRLs: 1. Helmet TU L2 bullet 4 - Adjust measurement to 1" to 1 1/8" (25-31mm)...also if we can change the 1 1/8" to a decimal plz. 2. Patch. Give mm measurements and match formatting mentioned above. 3. Boots L2 bullet 1 - Add mm measures. 4. TK belt L2 bullet - Adjust formatting of measurements to match point 1 above.

Proposed Imperial Death Trooper CRL Update
RAIDER replied to Chaos's topic in Imperial Death Trooper
Update: This CRL update has been processed and published. We do recommend that GMLs provide a grace period of 2-3 months for builds that had started prior to this update BUT we do encourage all builders to meet the updated standards if possible. Please note that a gallery has been added to the CRL as well showing proper coloring and weathering applications. Additionally, the Imperial Death Trooper is now eligible for our in-house Specialist program for those looking to meet the Level 2 standards. I wanted to give additional thanks to @Chaos for the tremendous amount of work he put into facilitating this update. Getting this update completed was a "Top 3" CRL goal for our team this term. I'd also like to thank @DarkPhoenix and @TommyC1138 for providing updated model pictures distinguishing Version 1 and Version 2 builds. -
PROPOSED CRL MODIFICATION: Crimson Stormtrooper / Magma Trooper
RAIDER replied to RAIDER's topic in Crimson Stormtrooper
Update: The text and pictures for this CRL update have been processed and published. We do recommend GMLs provide a 2 month grace period on builds that had begun prior to this update if necessary but highly encourage any incoming applicants to meet the new standards. Additionally, this costume will be getting a rename to "Crimson Stormtrooper" as was discussed in the members poll here: https://forum.specops501st.com/topic/7153-poll-magma-trooper-rename/ The Legion LMOs and Web Team are working to adjust the URL but it should be noted that the name has changed "unofficially" when viewing the CRL itself. Thank you to everyone for your participation in the process. Special thanks to @IcyTrooper for facilitating the discussions, @rickyboyblue and @SithThundercracker for the photo edits and CRL editing, and finally @Rat for providing our latest round of CRL model pictures using some of the new options available to this costume. -
Getting Started with a WTF Shadow Scout Kit! Please help!
RAIDER replied to Gundark's topic in Shadow Scout
No readily available videos but in truth outside of the helmet there isnt much work to the armor. Its pretty straightforward. One of our most recent build threads by @CrookKnight (also a WTF kit) may be helpful. Start your own build thread as well and we can help along the way. https://forum.specops501st.com/topic/5673-crookknights-shadow-scout-build-thread/ -
Star Wars Battlefront (2004): Phase 0 Dark Trooper CRL Discussion
RAIDER replied to Darth Emphatic's topic in Dark Troopers
No ur good. Was just clarifying the process we work through. No offense taken. No problem at all. Its always good to see life on a thread and in the forums. Oh to have a kit just laying around in a closet lol. In any case, did u say u posted a WIP thread? The color u found seems to be a hit and would be great to see that locked into a build thread. -
Star Wars Battlefront (2004): Phase 0 Dark Trooper CRL Discussion
RAIDER replied to Darth Emphatic's topic in Dark Troopers
@shadowfire Great! Sounds good. Just as an order of process, we typically work the text based on the references (being a lo-res video game graphic there may be some degree of flex), and then builders can match that. As a general best practice, we try not to get overly involved in steering and guiding vendors excessively. Vendors should ultimately do their own research and create a product that meets the CRL standards (via the references). We absolutely welcome vendors certainly (I have good relationships with many) but we do try to keep a clear line between the detachment and those selling products. That said...looking at the references, neither the RC boots or gloves appear to be a match for what is on the Dark Trooper. I will let @IcyTrooper chime in, but the texture details don't seem to match. -

PROPOSED MODIFIED CRL- DEL MEEKO- finalized text. (COMPLETED)
RAIDER replied to Blackwatch's topic in Inferno Squad Del Meeko
@Blackwatch do you need these edits made to the thread i cleaned up for ya? https://forum.specops501st.com/topic/7247-proposed-modified-crl-del-meeko-finalized-text/?do=findComment&comment=95617 -
4 versions even...though I would propose 4 different CRLs as opposed to tabs: Gar Saxon Captain Hark Tristan Wren Grunt
-
sorry didnt see this one. yes the bucket builder
-
None. Until someone presents a completed/semi-completed build we don't typically start drafting the CRL as the builders are typically the ones to present their research of the references alongside their builds. There are exceptions to that but that's normally with costumes where we have seen people making significant and steady progress on their builds in the forums. That hasn't happened here for the Imp Supercommando to this point. That said... @MrShadow did message us just yesterday and believes he has enough progress on his files to start drafting a text and @IcyTrooper has volunteered to help work alongside him to start that process.
-
Good question. Looking at the CRL in its current state, it would need to be hard materials. No way around that at the present. As the costume is a comic book character, we can't really point to screen references for a definitive answer and so we could look to C-3P0 as an example regarding construction. I did some reading after seeing your post and it does seem like a more flexible material (rubber) was used for C-3P0 (stunt costume versions only?) for the ESB and ROTJ. So could an update to the CRL be discussed? It could, but no guarantees that would be done in a time frame that would line up with your build/approval. And no guarantees it would clear. If references (C-3P0) showed that was used then it could fly though, but that's a process.
-
Hey there! Welcome. At this point, the only vendor I am aware of that possibly makes this kit is SkyGunBro (on Facebook), BUT I cannot speak to the quality of the kit compared to the actual references as a build has not been presented here yet for us to review. @MrShadow is developing his own 3D models/files.
-
Hey @Darth Betus just checking in to see how you are progressing.
-
That looks very sharp @Hoda And I see you cleaned up a bit lol.
-
No stress. It happens. Good to see some progress. When you think ur ready we can start draft work on the CRL itself to coincide with the character you are working on.
-
Close indeed!

Sent per your request. Welcome!!!

So making sure i understand... On the proposal we have the belt as “no grommets” at Level 2. If it can be either/or Im suggesting just remove that requirement altogether. Goggles...sounds like black only then for even basic yes?

Star Wars Battlefront (2004): Phase 0 Dark Trooper CRL Discussion
RAIDER replied to Darth Emphatic's topic in Dark Troopers
is it plastic? can it be sanded down? -
Good morning! Pinging here @Blackwatch couple quick notes: 1) Belt. If some of the panels do have the grommets then maybe we should just remove that L2 requirement. 2) Goggles. Do we want to add a strap coloring requirement at either level as we have seen some gray and some black? 3) Pouches. We can add the same line here regarding zippers and pulls.

POLL: Crimson Stormtrooper/Magma Trooper Rename
RAIDER replied to RAIDER's topic in Crimson Stormtrooper
Making note here for those following, model has submitted photos for the update and they are in review. Update and final decision on rename (which will be discussed with LMOs) should not be far off.
