Proposal for updates to the Army Engineer
RAIDER replied to ShovelGuy's topic in Imperial Army Engineer
Thx for input. Im not sure the difference between definitions is vastly different (billowed vs full)...but full probably translates a bit better for international members (not that CRLs arent full of technical jargon...they absolutely are). Working a build @SpaceWelder? -
Proposal for updates to the Army Engineer
RAIDER replied to ShovelGuy's topic in Imperial Army Engineer
P.S. Both the Army Trooper and Engineer are undergoing updates. If your intent is to finish your costume soon, then build to the current CRLs...however, if you think it will take longer then build to what you are seeing in this update. Once the update is published, LMOs post a notification to GMLs (that is dated) and there is normally a grace period granted to those that were in mid-build (around a month). Lastly...I forgot to mention...the use of TK belts by these characters is not their standard uniform. In the story, they salvage the belts and other gear from fallen Stormies as they prepare a last stand. We will allow the belts as optional...but there is no link between the belts and the boots in terms of the characters original uniform. -
Proposal for updates to the Army Engineer
RAIDER replied to ShovelGuy's topic in Imperial Army Engineer
@Saifai Let's back track because I don't think I fully understand what you are asking. First...this thread is regarding the Engineer. So you must ONLY look at the Engineer for the references, not cross reference with the other troopers (including the Army Trooper). The current CRL allows for Jackboots (higher boots), but there are no actual comic references that depict this for the Engineer. This is where the discussion for shorter boots is coming from. This picture is the best visual reference for the boot for Engineers: They are up to the calf (but not higher or lower)...this negates Jackboots and TK boots so far as I see. Additionally, there is no indication of white anywhere in this reference. The officer in the same picture has black boots with the same dirty coloring. The next best reference is this picture (middle trooper standing with TK belt): Again...I see no evidence for white in that. A good indicator of this is the difference between the TK/TK belt colors and the boots...not the same, not close. If anything, the boots are a closer color to the Army Trooper with the helmet (green)...but as established in the first picture shown...the boots are dirty (hence the color). Also note, that these boots go to mid shin...a TK boot stops just above the ankle (I have a TK and a TD). So...with all of that established, I hope that answers your questions...again, I'm not exactly sure what your question/goal may be...so hopefully this info helps. -
Proposal for updates to the Army Engineer
RAIDER replied to ShovelGuy's topic in Imperial Army Engineer
The CRL update discussed here hasnt been published yet. When it is published, new photos will be done as needed...but till then, whats in the CRL now is what is allowed. -
hey there! the visor does not need to move (tho a little movement at least helps get your head in the helmet). have u decided on a kit to purchase?
-
Hey Doug! Getting there. I see a couple things to address before submitting. Others may see additional things: - Holster fasteners to belt must be black for Level 1. - The thigh ammo pack on right thigh looks to be sagging in center. - When using ammo packs on belt they must replace the drop boxes and there must be one on each hip. I would suggest removing the ammo pack on hip altogether. - Pauldron cannot have the logo sticker (not sure what it is)...should be black with no markings.

@CrookKnight I told u i was gonna get a pair of those bolts to test lol. They work perfectly...are flat...and they are aluminum and should be more than durable. Also attached pic of specific ones I purchased.

Proposed Imperial Death Trooper CRL Update
RAIDER replied to Chaos's topic in Imperial Death Trooper
indeed. i dont disagree with ya one bit on that its what was used...i still hold that internal strapping systems (and even if we catch minute glimpses of it...i dont think they were ever intended to be visible components) should necessarily be required in a CRL...at most adding the internal strapping as optional optional (meaning put it in Level 2 and even then its optional) would be as far as id recommend because ultimately a GML would never see that system...and it would have no effect on the exterior look of the costume right? Im all for preserving knowledge...and so thats why I say if im ok if its added as an optional optional...but keep in mind even the shoretrooper crl makes no mention of this system that i can see. edited bad grammar lol -
Congrats and welcome to the fam! Look forward to seeing it in person man! p.s. Make sure to request your full member access here: https://forum.specops501st.com/forum/130-access-requests/

4th bullet point on helmet for Level 1...and u are correct my bad no concave requirement for L2
-
22mm is the approx measure u need. I just did a quick google search of 22mm speedglas elevator bolts (these are for welding helmets) and here are a couple examples that may work... The knurled end would go on the interior of ur bucket while the flat thin part is what is visible on the exterior. Those aluminum ones look durable as heck I may grab a set to test as I have resin replicas at the moment which are bit fragile lol...tho for Level 2 they need to be concave. The other set is a plastic one and by the pic looks to be concave. You would use the bolt and the round black piece on the interior. Again just examples...looks to be plenty of sources out there though...so shop around.

There should be holes in the side of ur visor and dome and the bolts just install there. Screwed in. Were bolts sent with the kit?

complete Sithtrooper Belt - CRL Development Discussion
RAIDER replied to nanotek's topic in CRL Discussion Archive
I believe we were discussing the boxes. -
Great! look forward to it and hopefully we can make sure there are no glaring issues before you head into approval...even when vendors have had stuff approved by other members/GMLs it always boils down to the accuracy of the individual build/fit. Tagging our Del experts @TX-20113 and @MahXPrime...and @Blackwatch who is becoming one himself lol.
-
My bucket (same type of split dome build)...I put abs strips inside as you BUT also fiberglassed the interior seam. then did the bondo on the exterior...and with that just be patient with the sanding and making sure its nice and smooth

DHKnecht's Death Trooper Armor Build WIP
RAIDER replied to DHKnecht's topic in Imperial Death Trooper
Looking forward to seeing the progress. Also tagging fellow Spec Ops member from Bast Alpha @Blackwatch -
You are getting into a sensitive discussion that I would advise be held off on for the time being as those discussions need to happen with Legion officers...and really cant be held until an approval has happened (or not), not necessarily here. We offer costume input and guidance at the detachment and manage the CRL. We are not responsible for membership approval. My suggestion is to post pictures of your build so we can address the details you are in question about that you think may be assessed unfairly (unless you are alluding to something apart from the costume which would definitely be outside of the scope of the detachment).

Swamp Trooper belt sizing
RAIDER replied to SkyWonHwa's topic in Armor/Soft Parts and Where to Find Them
Hmmm. Im not sure of any vendors selling different sized belt parts but Im sure u can ask. The first solution that comes to mind is just heating the belt piece a bit (carefully) and forming it to your shape. See how that goes first. Some vendors sell pre-formed belts (which you would have to reform) and others it comes a s a flat piece that requires forming regardless. -
If you are doing a gloss finish...just make sure the decals are matte to contrast. That's what Trooperbay's standard decals are I believe, but best to message them and check. I know I had to special request gloss decals for my satin finish. Ur greeblies...matte will be good w/ the gloss finish.

trooperbay used to carry material for it tho im sure it can be had elsewhere

PROPOSED CRL MODIFICATION: Inferno Squad Del Meeko (COMPLETED)
RAIDER replied to MahXPrime's topic in Inferno Squad Del Meeko
How about the official EA promo images? Just asking. -
What parts of your kit are concerning regarding a basic approval @Jayse01 as incorrect details in the CRL? We are in the process of a major Del Meeko update to correct certain things and/or add Level 2 items. GMLs handle all approvals. What do you mean by "independent review?"
