Imperial Flametrooper (Jedi Fallen Order)
Blackwatch replied to stevechewbacca's topic in Imperial Flametrooper (JFO)
shoes to me are dirty white/ very light grey. You may be able to paint those shoes you got, or otherwise cover them with vinyl like making a scout boot. -

oustanding work for an outstanding cause trooper -
Yes lets get your Specialist submission in so the Staff can have a look at it for review.

the pair on the right, with the uvex strap look a little more like the CRL . I have and use both. I have the pair on the left on my Army Ground Commander.

Imperial Super Commando - Gar Saxon animated costume
Blackwatch replied to MisterxM's topic in Gar Saxon (Rebels - Animated)
painting fabric like this in my experience never works. you are going from the darket color, black to something else. As soon as it stretches, the paint breaks. Try contacting the seller and see if they can do it in the color you need, they may be open to doing it. If they arent, find someone making something similar, and see if they are open to new work. I went to Sheevs Emporium and they did brand new items for me that had not been done before. -
Great thread! Im glad we got to see your scaling efforts, you are using Armorsmith? I will remember that mesh trick for when I start assembling a helmet I am printing. The two helmet files are clearly different, both in original size and how they are laid out, I have to see, I prefer the GA file over the enlarged CK file, just from the look of it.

Proposed CRL Edit - Inferno Squad: Del Meeko
Blackwatch replied to IcyTrooper's topic in Inferno Squad Del Meeko
I am more in line with the "with visible texture" since thats what we would see. I work at a airport and I see a LOT of handbags, and some are clearly heavy woven canvas, because even at twenty feet I can see the texture. -
nice work there. I have a hasbro DH17 that I cut apart and lengthened with PVC pipe to make it a little closer to the real length.

Imperial Army Vendor List - boots updated
Blackwatch replied to Blackwatch's topic in Imperial Army Units
I just spoke with John at Endor Finders and the IA patch is on order, and should be available for purchase in a few weeks. During that time you can sign up on his Email list from the EF website and get notifications of when they are back in stock. -
I have just spoken to John at Endor Finders and he told me that the patches are on order, and should be available in a month. Given all current situations, from supply chain to horrific mail times, I would add a week or so to that month.

Proposed CRL Edit - Inferno Squad: Del Meeko
Blackwatch replied to IcyTrooper's topic in Inferno Squad Del Meeko
I totally agree, and I dont see it as a case of boxing anyone in, its a case of, "you have chosen this path, and this is the way". Michelle is right, sometimes I look at oxford weave and I have a hard time differentiating it from the backside of duck cloth. I have bought a LOT of duck cloth, and its not always woven the same, but the oxford weave canvas is going to have a much different hand than canvas. You can tell by looking at it when its made into whatever you make it into . Overall its not going to be anywere near as popular as a Reserve Pilot/ crewman, but for those doing this, they need to do it correctly just as any Fett builder has to do it right. -
I would apply a trim, just like you see in my helmet in the Sapper profile pic to the left here. I used rubber edge trim from an industrial supply house but you can use a wide trim like a door trim. Heres the CRL text Helmet - Version 1 Open face helmet whose base consists of a dome with rim and helmet skirt. The helmet skirt is to be smooth all around with no indentations on the rear. A telemetry unit is attached centered to the right or left sides of the dome aligned to the rim. The telemetry unit consists of: Rectangular box with a slight bevel and details on. The box is in the same color as the helmet. Telemetry unit details closely resemble the reference photos. The helmet is to be painted in olive tone with a flat or satin finish. A black trim is covering the edge of the helmet skirt and forehead of the dome. Black chin strap and chin cup.

Force Unleashed Jumptrooper CRL Discussion
Blackwatch replied to Fivezero's topic in TFU Jumptrooper
simple is better. I went through the discussions on the recent proposal to change/update the opspec for CRL verbiage, and it was stated by one person that the CRLS need to be more detailed. Down to the nth degree. I have to completely disagree with that, as did the LMO. CRLs are just a visual and text reference guide, nothing more. Anything else should be directed to our forums where we can but out the micrometers and discuss a build in detail. Ive heard from so many people in the past year that CRLS are getting out of control, and far too involved. -
i can count how many days it has NOT stormed this month on one hand. This is August, Monsoon season here. Everything is total mud and guck here.

Force Unleashed Jumptrooper CRL Discussion
Blackwatch replied to Fivezero's topic in TFU Jumptrooper
Looking at it fresh, neither one of the two above in red are clear to me. So, to me, the original, which is simpler , is easier for me to understand: In this case tubes=cheeks. A recessed channel, painted black, runs around the ears and continues above and across the lower tubes. -
Proposed CRL Edit - Inferno Squad: Del Meeko
Blackwatch replied to IcyTrooper's topic in Inferno Squad Del Meeko
If we leave in "or other similar weave canvas " this will be the case that GMLs will be approving suits that are made of regular twill or duck, which oxford weave is not. Im leery of straying outside of oxford weave canvas as the description, so that we dont suits made of regular fabric being approved. Just in the last couple of years the makers have updated their fabrics based on the research here as well as their own onging research, but makers will make it out of whatever is cheapest if they can sell suits to the unsuspecting who dont know the material differences. -
The gorrilla glue will be fine. Are you going to go for Specialist when you are done? Follow all links in blue, which means the TK ammo belt will be the ROTJ style. Chinstrap looks fine, I had to get a Xwing cup for mine as well. Remember that the Army is in the field, and weathering is encouraged. I love real weathering, IE good old Louisiana mud, while my gear is a combination of painted weathering and mud rubbed over that.

Force Unleashed Jumptrooper CRL Discussion
Blackwatch replied to Fivezero's topic in TFU Jumptrooper
All that is written needs to be clear for both the builder, especially a first time builder, and the GML who can, and has happened, interpret things totally differently than the builder or the SME's in this case us. The descriptions above seem to be clearer. -
Armour Design: TX Shadow Trooper vs ANH TK
Blackwatch replied to Talon's topic in Shadow Stormtrooper
Hello and welcome to Spec Ops Lyndon! Thank you for posting and asking what is actually a great question. We have really worked to line up the TK variants so that (when the parts actually do match) they are worded very closely, if not the same, so there is little to no confusion when building it. Other than lens colors, and any other special adornments like tube stripe colors, the text descriptions should match up. Always double check as your proceed. CRLS are living, breathing documents and change. Anytime there is a question, definitely ask. As you research more here in the forums, youll notice various vendors called out, and in time these will make more sense. Things can be a little overwhelming at first, just take it slow, and check all the references we have. It will make sense pretty quick. Again, welcome to the Spec Ops forums. -
Krzsztof the button on the collar looks fine, no issues there. I can tell that the strap on the right side of the helmet is green, but its still casting towards black on the rear and left side. When you look a the photo group on the previous post, you can see a difference. You may need to brush on some of the green paint you are using he give it the all green effect. On your straps, move them a bit higher on your shoulders, closer to your neck. The back strap should be a continuous line and not be bent, and that will move the strap close to the middle of the pocket. Small detail, but it make a big difference in overall impression.

WOW Those came out great. I Made my three lines by using the threads that a serger makes when you let it run on, and I glued them on the back. The lines here look fine to me for L2 spec.

the goggles look great but the strap looks VERY brown. Like clearly brown. it should appear green. You may need to overpaint it with thinned acrylic paint if you are unable to find a green strap. https://databank.501st.com/databank/File:TX_IAT_Goggles.jpg
